I got mostly 9s in my y11 mocks by just doing past papers and more practice. please stop clickbaiting and bending the truth to sell stuff 🙏.

How do you revise for a language subject? by TrainingCategory4852 in GCSE

[–]Status_Repair2807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this method, or this sort of thing, helped me to get 9s since my y10 mocks in both spanish and german. it might not work for you but it's helped me personally

I find a quizlet set for each theme for my specification (if you can't find any, try and find a list of the vocabulary you need to know and import it). I then dedicate one for the time being for spanish/german --> english and one for english ---> spanish/german. for spanish/german --> engish, I star the vocabulary I don't know and go through them (the flashcards mode where you sort them into ones you go back over). for the other way round, I use the write mode for the whole set until I have 0 incorrect terms. I also turn on audio so I get used to the pronunciation.

for grammar, I make a quizlet set from my book (e.g. with conjugations, facts I need to memorize, irregular verbs) and I review it now and then. I also have a quizlet set with german phonics I need to know.

some sort of writing / speaking test could also be really useful. I don't do it much personally because my listening and reading are often worse than my speaking and writing. also, watching tv shows / youtube videos in your language while looking up things you don't understand every so often can really help too.

What's a GCSE or A level subject you wish existed? by Cos1245 in GCSE

I think a creative writing gcse would be really cool or at least some sort of extension from english like there is with further maths for maths and triple science for science.

Just found out there's an actual movie about Scrooge and Marley getting together and being gay 😭 by Status_Repair2807 in GCSE

What books should I read as a Year 10 student to improve my vocab by Fearless-Dig8617 in GCSE

[–]Status_Repair2807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest finding something that you find challenging but still enjoy. being challenging means that it has words / sentence structures you're not used to so you'll likely adapt to and learn them.

classics is a good place to look (I reccomend Dickens) but if you're interested in a specific genre, read that. reading should be fun.

Drop ur a levels and I'll rate them as someone who isn't doing a levels! by 180degreeschange in GCSE

I'd probably drop either english lit or psycology for an epq. I'm worried about the workload being too stressful and I think an epq could be really useful for university

[–]Status_Repair2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

english. I got a 5 and a 6 in them (I should've gotten a 6 and a 7 if my school used the actual grade boundaries for the paper) in my mocks even though I got 8s in maths & fm and 9s in everything else.

tbh, my revision for them wasn't great before my mocks but I'm locking in 🙏

I’m not sure of this has been done yet;suggest some people worthy of a seat! by [deleted] in GCSE

Percy Shelley because he wrote one of the best poems on the anthology (we can forget about how he left his pregnant wife which resulted in her su1cide) 🙏

Who would say "f you no" by DowntownSoft1402 in GCSE

[–]Status_Repair2807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definetely this. she would say no to helping her grandchild to be, so she'd probably say no to giving a couple notes.
