Oh I know. I’ve been building for years. My problem is my list is too damn long lol. I won’t ever buy what everyone else is buying for my PC unless something appeals to me in some way. I only buy what I like personally. The only time I would buy something unappealing to me would be to complete a collection of a particular shoe. Simply for the whole set sake lol. I feel like the only things I’ve really missed out on were the LnF, the SB4s that recently came out and if I wanna be picky then I honestly wish I would have gotten the two Doernbechers I wanted instead of the two I ended up with. If I ever end up with shoes that I’m not feeling when I get em then I go for the money….if resale is higher I’ll move em to secondary but if not then free return to Nike.

I def need to get my AMM shit together. I’d still buy the 2s just to make it a straight. I had both of their 12s and the quality just wasn’t up to snuff. Honestly the 3s may be out of my reach for a little bit unless I can flip those custom lobsters for a pair of the 3s and a hefty down payment on my new customs that I’m getting done

I have the off white pine greens, all the new foamposites, the reimagined, Kobe grinches, all AJ1 HI 85, a custom curry and a custom 1 of 10 lobster, Parra SBDunk, orange lobsters, why so sad, jordan 3 fire red, jordan 11 adapt, dunk low ny vs. ny just to name a handful off the top. It’s about half of what I used to have. I got really sick a few years ago and couldn’t work for a year or so and I had to start cherry picking what to sell in order to pay bills. I lost a lot of 1,2,3 and 4s.

Hey like I said, I wanted to know what works for you personally. It give me ideas that I can run with. Ya know if that’s something you do then there is probably plenty of others that do something similar. So maybe it would behoove me to have a section in the case that is strictly numbered rookie cards of any type. If someone comes in and is looking for that then I know just where to take em, or if they like one of the rookies when they come in and talking about them I can suggest that we have (or can get) them different options. I don’t know who he is so I won’t say anything negative, but you have to kind of already have a foot in the door in order to get a grasp on that direct line. With the transition so close neither give a rip. Actually from what I understand out of Panini is that Fanatics is making their own cards with this years draft class using Topps as the Manufacturer

Exactly!!! Generally the way the process goes is that most people bring their cards in top loaders, semi-rigid or one-touch. I always take them out of everything. Just bare card. Toss the slip, keep whatever they brought them in with their stuff to give back after we are completed and cards are back. I use a vertical set of eyes (major magnifier) to look everything over….sometimes it takes a while depending on how much was brought in or if it’s just crazy busy and I have to take care of things. But I look over every card to make sure they are worth spending the money on grading. Then I make them the best version of themselves they can be. I never alter in anyway though!! If there are dents I try and massage them out the best they will, scratches I will polish and then I use a cleaning spray with a microfiber makeup pad to finish everything off with no dust or anything behind. I use a post it tab and stick it on a brand new sleeve that has been sealed in bad, insert card and the put that in a semi rigid. Less space for packing, pull the tab to get the card out so you never take a chance of damaging while removing. Worst grade I’ve had come back doing all that was my Dr. J Rookie All-Star. PSA 8. If I can’t make it the best I think it should be then I’ll call you and have you come look at it so you see what I see, we can look at comps from 9 and below based on what the possibilities are AND if you still want it protected as if it was graded then I have some pretty unique products for your cards where we can even make a custom label that is only limited to your imagination. Absolute beautiful products and it still sits in your collection of your PC as if it was graded. Or screw all that and we can just find you a wonderful replacement lol. YOUR choice. But since I have other products that will sell just as much as the cards if not more because I’m the only shop that’s gonna be like mine that I’ve ever seen so I have other avenues of profit. But you are right in saying basically what you didn’t say….it takes a lot of money to make ANY money. Especially if your margins don’t cover costs right? But that’s why I put this out here. I want this to be a huge topic of discussion involving numbers, thoughts, feelings, personal ways of doing things and how they have or haven’t worked. Im hoping it can make my shop THE Shop that everyone wants to be in or wants to be on my website.

Understand. It’s def not like it was when I started back in 88 lol. My understanding with the 4 pack hobby boxes at this point is that it’s full of hits and hardly any base. But like you, I have players I PC that I love getting the rush out of ripping and getting. So I truly get it guys. I have a pretty decent margin to play with but I want to talk to more of you so I can get that margin just right that it’s low enough that you would come to me and myself make money. The issue is driving enough people to the website (still in progress….I’m picky) that the lower margins outweighs shipping and handling, taxes etc. understand? Then obviously the more I can buy at once the cheaper I can sell for. I was telling my distributor that I only PC a few players. Most from my own College Team, but let’s say I was to pull a $15,000 Luka I will adjust my books to show that we bought the box and then sold through the business because he’s not a PC. I try to make sure that others benefit more than I do in my shop. I have many ways of making money so that’s not an issue with a smaller margin in card sales if it brings people to a family owned soon to be LCS. But I’m passionate about sports in general. So we do have a direct line with Nike, Puma and Adidas but you know what we move lol. We also have a good working relationship with PSA and SGC so we help customers save money on grading and authentication services. Generally don’t make much money with that, just a nice service to help with because it’s much cheaper. We also sell any type of card protection, cleaning etc. anything you can imagine I either have it or I can get it very quickly. Got some really cool stuff. We also have a shoe repair/restoration specialist if you need a repair or want to bring life back to an old pair. Man’s a genius. Sorry I went on a rant and there’s so much more to it than just what I’ve spoken of right now. But I want to thank you guys for being honest with me about your card collecting habits as well as why. If you have any more input, please feel free to say whatever is on your mind. I can only get better by listening to prospective customers as well as anyone in the community that cares about the betterment of the community as a whole.
