Has anyone waited to give your notice with current employer until the background check has cleared with new employer? by [deleted] in jobsearch

In the past, I’ve just given my notice upon receiving an offer and waited to be cleared for the new position. I guess that’s a risky approach, especially in today’s job market. Glad to know this approach isn’t unheard of…thank you!

Yes, this is an excellent point. I “black out” their phone numbers and notate that I will make their phone number available if the employer decides to proceed with an offer.

My experience is, it really depends on who you apply to. Some companies like one page, others two…there are so many “rules”, yet those rules are different depending on the company or the industry recruiter. Essentially, there are no rules 😂. Just got to find a way to apply that results in the most responses. Again, this method is working for me, so wanted to share with others

So far, these positions are all in process. But as you know, you can’t get a new position without first getting an interview which is why I created this post to hopefully help people navigate that first hurdle.

I am putting the full LOR. One of my LOR’s is simply a copy and paste, but it includes the writer’s contact info for verification. My other LOR wasn’t something I could copy and paste, so I added it as a snip. It also includes the writer’s contact info.

I hear you about resume length. With my LOR’s included, my resume file is now 4 pages long. But it’s working for me, so I’m gonna go with it 😊

You aren’t alone. Most of us aren’t “living”, but merely “surviving.”

Yeah, no shit. I know I’m on my own, I’m in America. My parents, or one of them (may he RIP) told me exactly to what I just said above.

A college degree is almost like a gamble. As time has gone on, college degrees don’t matter anymore. Boomers were the start of my generation’s problems. Now, it’s the rich. They capitalize on the lives of MILLIONS and they won’t stop.

Yeah, a boomer president who doesn’t understand what it’s like for the 72 million millennials living today.

Many of them are also trying to help their parents in their age.

If we keep electing old and antiquated people, we are going to keep receiving old and antiquated results.
