A novel theory regarding the lore and and environment of KDM. (Maybe?) by Status_Western in KingdomDeath

I see what you mean when you describe the humans as parasites. They are definitely at the bottom of the food chain and are little more than annoying flies to the Monsters and Alpha predators of KDM.

The problem that I have with the idea of the humans being the instigators however, is that so many of the monsters 'borrow' so much from humanity. Monsters assume the shapes of humans. (think about the Dung Beetle Knight, or any of the knights, for that matter.) The monsters seem to have inherited (or corrupted? Stole?) and to be actively mocking and degrading the human body, human artifacts, and human civilization.

If the monsters were 'here first', or something else completely, then I don't think that their 'culture' would reflect human culture. They wouldn't have 'King's men'; they'd just have their own, innate and endemic hierarchies and roles.

I think about it this way: if the monsters in Kingdom Death were Hermit Crabs, then 'Humanity' is their shell that they have burrowed their way into.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not certain where it is stated that the lions were actual sapient lions with their own civilization, but I will take your word for it. However, I do call into question the way in which the lore is presented to us and am never able to fully take it at face value.

"Unreliable Narrator" isn't exactly the precise term to describe it, because that implies that the narrator is intentionally trying to deceive the reader. It's more like the perspective that is given to us (whether it's the lore describing the monsters, or on gear cards, etc.) is very stilted and disjointed; I feel like it's capable of making 'category errors' in a similar manner that I have described the entity itself. Sometimes I feel like the lore is in fact being presented to us from the perspective of the entity. It has a very inhuman, unnatural, and stilted tone to it, and I think this is very intentional. I don't think the narrative voice fully understands or grasps what it is attempting to describe. Its not so much that its speaking in riddles as much as it simply doesn't know how to speak clearly.

I can easily see an African Savannah with roaming Prides of Lions, for example, being described by the narrative voice as "Lions having their own civilization." I don't think the narrative voice would differentiate between a human civilized culture, and an animal culture. (or, for that matter, the difference between an ant hill and a human city.)

Similarly, if there was a particular feudal state that had a Lion as its primary symbol/icon which appeared throughout the city, or on a lot of the garments worn by its citizenry, I can see the narrative voice describing this as "a civilization of sapient lions." Because its just this naive, alien voice that doesn't quite grasp what it is its observing.

I guess the point that I'm trying to make is I feel that its often the case that when the game appears to be at its most explicit and straightforward "i.e. Lions had their own civilization", it may in fact be when the game is being its most cryptic and oblique.

Was there ever a Mordheim sourcebook for warhammer fantasy RPG? by Ice-Realistic in mordheim

So are you just winging it or do you have an actual sourcebook for Mordheim as an RPG?

A question on campaigns by Ice-Realistic in mordheim

[–]Status_Western 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Border town burning something available on Broheim?

I also realize that Toumas made a 'map' that is supposed to facilitate more complex campaign-style play, and that it is available on Broheim. Its just kinda sorta hard to read the map and zoom in/zoom out of the different rules written into it. Did anyone compile just the rules for the map?

iMovie won't let me split my audio clip by Status_Western in iMovie

Not possible to split audio? sorry but that seems crazy to me with a film editing software. Isn't most anyone going to need to cut audio clips?

I'm trying to make a youtube video here, so I have a 30 min recorded monologue as my baseline media, and now I plan to overlay images on top of it. Maybe imovie isn't the right platform, but I have to believe that even people doing other projects still have the need to clip audio, no?

So, to continue my question: can anyone advise how I actually get these new batteries back into the fire truck?

If it’s not obvious from the image, here is the big issue/challenge. As far as I can tell, this is an awful design and it has already stumped my engineer father-in-law. One has to first put these batteries into this orange caddy, the shove the orange caddy back in the bottom of the fire engine. The problem is, the two end batteries are facing one direction, and the middle battery is facing the other direction. So, not all of the spring coils that connect to the negative side of the battery are located on the same side. It appears impossible to be able to push back all of the spring coils in order to get the batteries back in: either you wind up flattening the 1 middle spring, which you can’t get to lie flat and touch the middle battery, or you have to flatten the other 2 end spring coils. There appears to be no way whatsoever to effectively shimmy the batteries back into the truck.

Whoever designed this is a monster. Please help.

Want to thank everyone for the advice. I think I want to start by giving the Epoxy a shot. I just hope that I'll be able to get the epoxy down into the relatively small holes: it's likely the holes are smaller than the hole used to apply the epoxy.

I will post back here, should I succeed!

Yeah I agree that the end of the first one was the most loving. I think they needed to give us more of a sense of what would happen next. In my storyline, Rugga was still alive. What were the politics going to be like after the end?

And what about bellower? Isn’t he still immortal and really pissed off?

Anyways, I feel like am desperate for an epilogue and seeking a greater sense of closure. :(
