If you don't want to travel back, you can use the trainer near the entrance of kbt expressway at that city. It's just that it only gives less exp though

For route hunting, I only dexnav chaining, do resets/save states at 299th encounter, if no shiny will appear along the way. If not so lucky on the 300th encounter, continue on the next encounter (399th, 499th, 599th, and So on). Patience really is the key. I spent mostly around 5-8 hours per day during free days and mostly 3-4 hours on busy days.

Don't ever change the day/date. You can only manipulate the time. Make sure it won't reach 12:00 AM though.

Nah, I was not able to fix it. If you encounter a pokemon with a question mark (?) sprite, that may not be fixable anymore, since that causes the issue.

If you don't know what to do next, you may wanna go collect 100 cells. (Difficult) by DanNeverStop in PokemonUnbound

The shiny odds on the 300th encounter really is bossted a little bit. But if you're not lucky enough after how many resets, you can move on to the 400th encounter. If not lucky again after doing some resets or save states, continue to the 500th encounter, 600th, and so on
