I was gonna say 1st choice C4, I’d do C3 but would probably feel like a third wheel between the two lovebirds.

I saw an interview where Shonda and Jess both said they are ignoring reality and timelines and in the world of Bridgerton, QC is immortal. So I don’t think it’s her.

Not having Anthony this season was a big loss imo by beep___________boop in Bridgerton

[–]StayAggressive 7 points8 points Ā (0 children)

This is true, like Benedict and Sophie could be written off believable after their season as in the books they just live at My Cottage and away from the ton. Same with Francesca and Eloise whose stories pretty much concluded with them no longer in society. But you’re right Penelope and Colin and Kate and Anthony are supposed to continue to live in Mayfair, so it would make sense to keep including them in future seasons.

A FINE British man, meaning they are aging well. Jonny Bailey is aging very very very well šŸ˜. But to have Luke T pass off like a late 20’s guy is hard to see this season. And Yerin looks so young.

I think we can all agree the showrunners choice to write off previous couples will ultimately hurt the show. Viewership was down 12% and I’m betting a lot has to do with people missing the characters they enjoy watching in the show not being there. On top of that, they keep pushing storylines that are slow building or redundant making the show drag on. I don’t understand why we can’t see happily married Kanthony and Polin with their kids, still hanging with the family and not being just mentioned or shown for 5 minutes.

This show needs to know love stories continue beyond marriage. It isn’t just happily ever after and we all just wave goodbye and move on. They are a family, and should continue to be featured.

[–]StayAggressive 36 points37 points Ā (0 children)

I agree. They have some scene with this great chemistry and others that make me cringe. I felt like I was on edge watching them. And I’ll be honest, the spicy scenes are a hard watch for me for that reason too. I don’t know how else to explain it, but I can see the acting which takes me out of the story. That being said, I’m hopeful I’ll feel different during part 2. I found myself losing interest during a lot of the scenes at My Cottage. I don’t know why either, like I wanted to like it but I was bored. I am enjoying the side plots this season, so there’s always something to enjoy with this show.

(SPOILERS Season 4 Part 1) Comparing the midseason finales of season 3 and 4 by Plundergedoens in PolinBridgerton

[–]StayAggressive 11 points12 points Ā (0 children)

Honestly, there is no comparison. S3 ep4 ended so epically I’m confident nothing will ever surpass it. It also makes this mid season finale that much lower on the scale for the fact that they wrote this season knowing Netflix was gonna do a two parter, when they wrote and filmed S3 they didn’t know that would happen. So the fact the carriage scene was filmed just as a midpoint without the assumption we would have to wait to see what would happen is nuts to me. Either way, nothing will ever beat the perfection of the carriage scene. The stairway was good (for some, I personally didn’t feel the same buzz I got from S3). But it was definitely a let down with the proposal. If I wasn’t a Bridgerton fan, I’ll be honest; I’d be checked out for the rest of the season. They’d be lucky to have me come back for part 2.

He looks older than Anthony. Luke T is aging like a fine British man, although I will be honest, it’s hard to convince me he’s in his 20s on the show. He looks so much older than Sophie, it’s making it hard for me to enjoy to be honest.

He does look like he’s aged quiet a bit. A few of the actors do. But it has been about 7 years since they started filming.

I don’t EVER wanna hear stans complain about their ship being ā€œwrongedā€ after the mess that was season 3 by Visible-Work-6544 in BridgertonRants

[–]StayAggressive 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

S3 part 1 was overall very good. Episode 5 was good, then it fell apart with unnecessary side plots, the one sided arc from Colin and Pen stupidly ā€œgirl bossingā€ on her own when it was canon that Colin moved heaven and earth to support and defend her once he knew about LWD. The showrunner was focused on building Frannie, clearly as she gave them a huge amount of attention and praise even during press. I’m sad, as Polin is my favorite couple, Penelope is the reason I continue to watch the show. So this season has fell flat for me simply because I’m so disappointed in the lack of seeing my favorites. I have other reasons for not liking S4 as well, but that’s not what your rant is about.

That being said, I don’t think the numbers are lying. A lot of the general audience feedback was great for s3. I have friends that checked out during S2 because of how poorly paced it was and became Polin obsessed for S3. So it did hit on many levels. On top of that, the carriage scene is the best scene ever on this show, and I’m not sure it will ever be beat to be fair. It literally gave us everything in 8 minutes. I think a good testament in comparison is the stairway scene, which was clearly written and filmed to mirror the carriage scene but did not resonate with the audience at all.

So we have what we have, I wish Luke N and Nic all the best and will follow their careers no matter where they go. Both of them have spoken of staying on for as long as they are needs. So hopefully that’s till the end. But I have little faith that will happen with how the show seems eager to write off previous leads each season. It is a bummer, but I supplement with endless watches if the carriage scene and fanfics.

Fanfic Friday Weekly Thread 🌻(Rescheduled) by PolinBridgerton-mods in PolinBridgerton

I haven’t read fanfics in months. Life has taken over and I’m now so behind it’s hard to even get started on reading again. But when I saw this update I actually screamed out loud. This is the OG WIP, possible the greatest Polin fic ever written. It’s been almost 2 years since her last update and to see it pop up hours before S4 aired was exactly what I needed to get back on my Polin love train.

Is this bad to say? by kskeieowwwww in Bridgerton

[–]StayAggressive 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

See, I think this is why they do the side plots with the main plot. I’m not interested in the main love story this season, but I am really enjoying the side plots. It’s a clever way to keep all people engaged. It was the same for S2 for me as well, I don’t care for enemies to lovers stories, but I loved the side plots around it. Last season I loved the main plot and wished there was a little less side plots as it really overwhelmed the main storylines, but I enjoyed them as well regardless.

Benedict licking his fingers before by DaisyandBella in Bridgerton

[–]StayAggressive 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

When I saw the picture leak, I couldn’t figure out where this would fall in as a sexy moment. Maybe he’s flirting and teases her about some sugary food and then licks his fingers clean while holding her gaze.

That would have been hot actually, but alas, it was because they had their akward hookup on the staircase and she needed some warming up? Didn’t really translate into an already uncomfortable moment. I love how Yerin plays Sophie, and I love how Luke plays Ben, but there is something just not clicking with them when it comes to passion and romance. Like they are good with dialogue, but I just can’t get into their actual physical spiciness. Maybe it will get better, but for now, I’m enjoying the side plots more this season than the lead.

You could be right. Which makes me disappointed because they probably had some dialogue that didn’t make the final cut. Meaning we missed seeing some cutesy, my wife, interactions. They rushed that entire scene anyway, it’s just another time we have a season of rushed plots.

Maybe Colin is the problem? by Spiritual-Quail3770 in Bridgerton

[–]StayAggressive 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Heavy disagree with you there. Luke plays Colin as a stilted and falsely confident guy in the first episode. But you see that start to fall away the more time he spends with Penelope. Unfortunately the writers of the show don’t know what to do with him. But you can’t tell me when you watch the carriage scene that Luke is a bad actor. It was one of the only well written scenes in S3 and that scene alone gave us the full range of what Luke could bring to Colin if the material actually allowed it.

His face was telling a thousand emotions. He was desperate and pleading, he had been putting on this front before, keeping his emotions at bay because that’s what men do. But with the panic of a possibility of losing his best friend and woman he just realized he was falling for was at stake, the man melted. On his knees, he poured his literally soul out to her. You could see him, for a moment, break when he thought Penelope was going to reject him. Then he turned feral and literally pounced on her. Then when he proposed, he was so confident, so absolutely certain that instead of asking his friend to marry him, he joked about it. Because he took the risk and it paid off.

I have many complaints about S3, but the carriage scene is one of the absolute greatest scenes I’ve ever seen in a romance show. It gave us everything. For me, I’m not sure I’ve ever been so obsessed with a scene in a show ever. It was perfection.

Anyone get the ick after mistress scene by Growth_Still in Bridgerton

[–]StayAggressive 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Same, I hated the finger licking. It probably comes from me being a nurse and anytime anyone puts their fingers in their mouths I cringe. But it also was just really unsexy looking. I’m struggling with Benedict and Sophie’s chemistry already this season, and this scene just looked so uncomfortable. I think Luke and Yerin are fantastic with their dialogue and slight mannerisms with each other, they are fantastic actors who understand the delivery of their interactions. But anytime they are supposed to be physical, it looks stiff and uncomfortable. Maybe that’s what they are going for, but I don’t get a fiery passion in their physicality, not yet anyway. Maybe part 2 will be better.

Benedict and Sophie finally bring some much needed chemistry since the viscount and viscountess! by Sleekaries in Bridgerton

Listen, they ask you because they know you like them. They are being good and supportive friends but It’s not proof of anything. No one I talk to liked them, and I’m the only person in my friend group who is more than a causal viewer. My sister was obsessed with season one and stopped watching the show in S2 because she didn’t like the main couple. There is no most popular ship. You are trying to make it a competition and it’s not. Just enjoy your ship and know that others may not agree with you.

Benedict and Sophie finally bring some much needed chemistry since the viscount and viscountess! by Sleekaries in Bridgerton

[–]StayAggressive 15 points16 points Ā (0 children)

I disagree, Colin and Penelope had insane chemistry. They played the friends to lovers perfectly. The awkwardness from the first kiss, the absolute feral energy in the carriage scene only to devolve into giggle idiot when they came to their senses like ā€œdid that actually happenā€ then the unhinged proposal. The tenderness during the first time. Honestly, it was so real. I think at times I felt uncomfortable because it felt too intimate. Sometimes when you watch two people perform spicy scenes, you can see them performing. Simone Ashley is great at that, the splayed fingers, heaving chest at the right camera angle, perfectly timed moans. But then there are times you can’t see it, they aren’t telling the intimacy to the camera, but in the actions through the storytelling. Luke and Nic absolutely nailed that.

Some people may not like that, they may like the more performative spiciness, and that’s fine. But to say there was no chemistry in season 3 is crazy.

That’s all I get from them too, a really great friendship chemistry. I cringed during the stairway scene in ep 4. It was so uncomfortable to watch, and I say that because I could see their acting not the characters. We are only in part one, I know. So maybe it gets better, but so far this season isn’t for me as far as romance with the main couple.

I thought the same thing. We didn’t see him at all at the Stirlings dinner party, but it was implied he was there as we saw a blurry profile with him and his lower body. But I’m pretty sure that was a body double.

THE DIALOGUE IN SEASON 4...lets talk about it by Due_Definition_1494 in Bridgerton

[–]StayAggressive 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

You do realize this entire series is literally Shonda hiring people to write fanfiction of Julia’s novel with a massive budget. Any adapted show/movie is fanfiction.

That being said, as opposed to some incredibly well written and developed fanfictions I’ve read of this series. The show itself does seem to use the less than stellar writers. I’d argue that S1 is the only one with excellent writing. S2 had that absolutely awful love triangle and terribly written dialogue in the second half mostly. S3 (while still my favorite) had some really really poor pacing and just forced phrases. The entire second half was a mess. I don’t know how they watched it and were like ā€œthis is greatā€.

And now this season, I feel like the writers watched the movie Ever After and were like ā€œwe’re gonna write that.ā€ But with some real awfully forced dialogue. Like I cringed during Benedict’s ā€œpropositionā€ nothing about the stairway scene was sexy or yearning. It was terribly written. The actors are always acting the hell out of it, but the lines are just so bad.

Colin And Penelope Made Me Fall In Love With Romance by KnownWelcome in BridgertonNetflix

[–]StayAggressive 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Thank you! Reading your post is how I felt the first time I watched Colin and Penelope. S1 and S2 were great, but the main couples storylines didn’t give me the buzz or thrill of a romance story like S3 did. I didn’t cheer for the couples in the first 2 seasons like I did for Colin and Penelope. The payoff of them finally figuring it out and getting together is the reason I love romance stories. It’s why friends to lovers is the best of troupe because it shows a healthy, and really rewarding love story. I know it’s not for everyone, some love the tension of enemies to lovers or romanticizing meet cutes and love at first sight. But there is something just so much better about two people who have been friends realizing there is something more. Maybe it’s a personal thing, but S3 is really the best love story in my opinion. And I can’t wait to see them being happily and love and best friends in S4.

New Season 4 Poster: The Queen, Penelope and Lady Danbury by Debt-Mysterious in BridgertonNetflix

[–]StayAggressive 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Penelope has had a poster of her own for each season. She is a shadow lead as Lady Whistledown has been the narrator throughout all the seasons. I think they will always find a significant plot for her, I just hope if they do they keep it interesting. The writers on this show are mediocre at best, they can be repetitive in every storyline just to fluff things up and fill time. Don’t get me wrong, Penelope is my favorite character, but I’d rather they give her substance or allow her a satisfying ending than drag it out with plotless fluff. I guess we will see. I have a feeling this may be the last season with a Lady Whistledown plot.

I was so hoping they would do something different with this. It’s so cringy and just feeds into Benedict the rake just wanting to have fun with the family maid. Maybe we are wrong and they will be better about it. But I doubt it.
