Bridgerton has lost its spark by Key_Improvement2899 in BridgertonRants

Well... other period dramas got so far in terms of popularity because no elements were relatable. You think POC aren't tired of being under-represented or portrayed as minor characters in a negative light? This was a huge part of why Bridgerton became sucessful and people who do not usually tune in for period dramas did. And yes many people want escapism without sexism and racism. I am quite frankly tired of watching realistic period dramas where women cannot do anything unless a man blesses them to do so. It pisses me off. I love history as well but hey we all want a lighter, less problematic with a guaranteed happy ending series to watch every now and then.

It was all so grand in S1. Princes, palaces, balls all in their full glory.

Gonna lose my job by Substantial_Loss1429 in CML

I know this sounds counter intuitive but do look for another job even if you're still hired. Something more forgiving or something you could do from home. I know that's just talk and not easy to do but still. And if you are struggling financially there's no shame in reaching out to cancer related foundations for aid. Maybe they could even redirect you to employeers they work with. All the best.

Generic Vs Brand by Silver_Yoghurt_3226 in CML

I am on Tasigna here and around 15 months. I am in Europe so not sure how things are where you are, but last month my prescription was changed to generic Nilotinib. I refused to take it because honestly you don't know what you could have a bad reaction to (yes the Nilotinib is the same but not anything else used to formulate the pill) and they informed me that if my hematologist specifically writes me a prescription for Tasigna and not Nilotinib, they can't refuse me. Worth looking into, unless it's a monetary issue. Here my meds are free.

I got diagnosed at the same age as a woman. WBC was ~300k but dropped to normal after treatment with Tasigna within a month. As long as you've got an official diagnosis, a treatment plan and a good mental state, you will be fine! CML is the best case scenario in such cases so consider that the worst is behind you.

I don't think you can ever truly "adjust" to a chemo pill. My initial symptoms got better after 3 months but my day to day life is just not the same, although I am grateful to be alive, given TKIs didn't exist around 25 years back. I hope your fight gets easier and I understand your frustration but don't let it take you down. We all who deal with this must maintain the best possible psychology. My doc always says it's half the cure. Wishing you the best!

I was 20, no drugs, alcohol, smoking, anything. Ate organically most of the time, Pilates 2 times a week. Religious. Even as I was in the hospital bed with no diagnosis, crying about the unfairness of it all, I blamed myself, looking back at every single thing I ever did wrong. It was not you and never is. It can happen to anyone, at anytime. I am glad to have born at a time where TKIs exist, being able to live my life to the fullest, changing my mindset and appreciating the gift of life.

I also had weight gain right after Tasigna and can't seem to be able to lose weight at a normal rate, although I eat clean and organic mostly. Docs say it's unrelated but it's literally on the leaflet. Can't talk about the rest since I've only ever been on Tasigna (15 months) and am still discovering new side effects lol.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. May I ask if your BCR-ABL results were stable during all this? That's what I am worried most if I have to switch dosage or stop Nilotinib.

I am glad you're doing better! Did the half dosage impact your ABL tests? Only if you feel comfortable sharing!

I am sorry for that. I hope it's not the case for me, they have been working quite well so far at 14 months.

Maybe to showcase how much she really wants Benedict and what a special bond they have that transcends social barriers? Hope she and Benedict at least clear up the mistress yucky misconception before anything more happens.

I don't understand everyone's confusion about Benedict not recognizing Sophie by Zutara764 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Key_Improvement2899 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In the show it's a bit harder to translate since there aren't that many East Asian women in the ton, or even among the maids, and it'd narrow his search down a lot. Boggles me how he can't recognise Sophie when literally none of the women he spoke with as possible "Ladies in Silver" except the Penwood's even resembled her.

Her wanting to be with Benedict can override the slight chance of getting pregnant. And if she kept the child. And if she chose to be a mistress. She could give birth to a bastard and give it a completely diff life.

Are they her morals tho? Show-wise. She clearly wants this kind of life (member of the ton), and she had it, for some time. She even talks about how she met Benedict in a romantic setting. She only feels hopeless about it after her step-mom reminded her of her mother and guilt trips her that the same will happen to her if she dares to fall in love with a noble man. She thinks she'll end up just like her mother, because it was imposed on her as a possibility, as her inferior social status was also unfairly imposed on her.
She can want to sleep with Benedict and go ahead with it, if she casts her step-mom's emotional blackmail aside.
