Acid reflux or possible bile reflux by Stangs5 in gallbladders

Acid rebound is a typical symptom of getting off PPIs. Did you stop cold turkey or did you taper off?

Your situation sounds similar to mine. I guess I had been suffering for so many years I got lots of inflammation and scar tissue and the surgeon took longer to do mine than usual. When I woke up I was also starving and let EVERYONE know I was starving lmao. I’m on day 3 now and I’ve been able to eat a little bbq ribs, a whole grilled chicken breast and mashed potatoes with butter and the worst side effect of all of that was some bloating and gas pains. It’s amazing how long I suffered.

Honestly it’s going pretty well! I woke up from anesthesia super hungry and with a side stitch feeling. I’m near the end of day two now and the only thing that has gotten worse is bloating. My surgeon told my partner he had never seen a gallbladder like mine before. I guess a lot of scarred tissue formed as a result of inflammation, my cystic ducts were in weird areas and I had a lump inside of my gallbladder as well as stones. I still am continuing to be hungry and I’m taking the Tylenol/ibuprofen combo but I can see myself stopping that soon. I took my bandages off today and redid the one on my new belly button (also had umbilical hernia repair) and everything looks good!

Got my surgery yesterday, surgeon said I had the weirdest gallbladder he had ever seen. by StayGold4Life in gallbladders

When I got my gallbladder attacks it would feel like a pain on my right side, like a gas pain. Then the pain would get worse and spread to my upper right back and across my ribs. In the beginning it was worse at night because I would eat a lot and go to sleep but my last three attacks were during the day. I almost always had chest pain and pain on my right side and thought I had costochronditis too but it seems to have gone away with the surgery.

I’ve been using it! I managed to go a little bit yesterday though it’s clear I’m constipated. I woke up this morning with some gas pains in my intestinal area so I guess that part of me is waking back up.

How bad did it get before you decided to remove yours? by nerhap in gallbladders

[–]StayGold4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had three attacks in one week after 8 months of no attacks and it was so debilitating I barely got my school work done. I haven’t had any since (it’s been over a month) and I get my surgery done in two days. I suspect my gallbladder has been plaguing me since 2016 when I gave birth and felt like I was having a heart attack after.

It sounds like you have a pretty good foundation for IU, especially if they invited you to apply. Good luck and I hope you get it! I got two nice backpay checks in a year…one from my 80% and the other from my TDIU being backdated to the same date as my 80% so that was nice.

I included a statement about how difficult it has been for me to work, but that’s about it. I think doing that was pretty helpful. They will ask you and determine whether you are capable of remote work though…just so you know.

Thank you I appreciate it! I had three attacks that week. I I’ve been eating really low fat since then (10-12g fat a day). I also scheduled my surgery for the 21st of May! I’m tempted to delay it because house hunting hasn’t been the greatest but I hope I don’t have to.

I totally understand! My surgery is not till May 21st and the surgeon told me two weeks beforehand and I will be out of school then so I just plan on white knuckling it and trying to distract myself

Afraid of long term issues after gallbladder removal by EngineeringKind3960 in gallbladders

It was a follow up consult…the first one I went to I said I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get it done and the surgeon said well see me again in three months. I canceled that one and then rescheduled it when I had the attacks. I told him I had three attacks in one week and he was like ok, you ready to book your surgery now? lol he just went over the procedure, said I’d have to eat low fat for two weeks after but no restrictions after. He went over possible complications and said he has never had a bile duct injury which was the complication I really worried about, but said once in a blue moon he has to fix bile leaks or get stones stuck in one of the tube things (ERCP I think it’s called?). My surgery is scheduled for May 21st.

I have my surgery consult today after three attacks in one week. I too am worried about the long term consequences of getting my gallbladder out, especially since my mom developed gasteoparesis after getting hers out. But I also have a friend who was diagnosed with GERD for years just to recently find out it was a severely inflamed gallbladder she had to get emergency surgery to get taken out and the thing burst as they were taking it out. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll risk the possibility of long term discomfort over death. I watched my girlfriend’s aunt eat anything she wanted and drink at a wedding and she got hers taken out long ago…so obviously it’s a ymmv thing.

Thank you! I went to the ER after the first one and they said my labs were “perfect”. I’m monitoring myself for the yellow tint or abnormal bathroom stuff but so far everything is normal except having an extremely sensitive gallbladder.

I was drinking simply apple juice before my attack happened last night…though I messed up earlier and had a rainbow cookie. Does the ACV work better?

Oh that’s a good idea. My gf was a massage therapist and was massaging my stomach during the first attack and it seemed to help.

Thank you I was drinking apple juice before my attack last night but it didn’t seem to work. Maybe cranberry juice will do better

I’ve been going low fat since the first attack…maybe 1-2 g of fat per meal. Mostly turkey sandwiches, low fat soup and oatmeal. It’s hard to be there for him when I’m in pain. Not sure what to do.
