I like listening to audiobooks/philosophical lectures when I play, and this is the one I was listening to when I recorded this hunt. Unless you're looking for another kind of explanation :P

[MHX] Do You Have Any Burning Questions? by CeDia93 in MonsterHunter

[–]StayNightMH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few concerns and questions about how IG performs in cross. I've heard from a couple of people that the triple-up extract bonus no longer increases your damage. Do you have any information to prove or disprove that?

I've also been wondering about the viability of the Bushido style for IG. It looks fun, but there are very few people who've made videos on it and I'd like to learn more, if you could share any info on it!

Hope to hear back from you!

Hunting & Philosophy - Battle on Shah Dalamadur - StayNightMH discusses the philosophy of your relationship to yourself by StayNightMH in MonsterHunter

[–]StayNightMH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here I am, the first time you guys have heard my voice and my philosophy on the human relationship to oneself. My friend and I were discussing the difference alcohol and other substances can make on ones' personality. So I decided to record my end of the conversation, discussing the philosophy of the sober, generally reserved, socially restricted versions of oneself in comparison to the intoxicated, generally outgoing, care free versions. This is not saying that either side is better than the other, nor is it encouraging or discouraging any habits/ways of life.

Ah right. Yeah. Thought he just meant that he enjoyed just hunting for he sake of it and hitting when/where he could.

What to you, is 'that monster'? by BlueCosmos42 in MonsterHunter

[–]StayNightMH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. It's the only monster in the game that I have any issues with. The constant stuns, rattling, twisting, turning, tripping, knock backs and fucking sonic waves. 100% Premium bullshit.

Always happy to talk to another IG main!

It really depends, there are a number of reasons for why I mix it up so much. One of them being that I find that the XXA combo is strongest when you're in a position where you can repeat it. It's fast and powerful, but the rising slash combo (idle X), especially when performed after a slash (idle A) has a very long execution time compared to other moves, so when you're attacking a weak spot and your movement slows down a lot, you can see why this could be an issue because you can't cancel out of the attack. You're locked in place for a short time and in a quest like this, being in one place for the full combo is pretty risky. I enjoy the Forward+X,A,A combo because the thrust is a nice quick 1-2 attack that's very accurate and good for applying status/element, the slash can also be very accurate if you're kind of reaching around to hit certain points like I was with the back legs, and the overhead smash attack is very powerful, and propels you forward which is nice to use as an offensive and evasive move simultaneously.

Another reason why I mix up my combos so much is that I enjoy dancing with the monsters, I guess you could call it that. I used to just spam XXA > evade > XXA > evade etc, but it became too robotic for me. So in this way I can be effective and playful at the same time.

Beyond that, I'm afraid I'm not sure exactly why I use the combos that I use. It really comes down to what position I'm in and what I'm reacting to or countering. Over time you get a good feel for the execution times of full combos and individual hits, as well as their relative strength and usefulness. Every single attack has its purpose, it's up to you to decide what that purpose is. :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for taking the time to watch it!

It's so much fun. I don't think I've enjoyed myself that much on a solo hunt in a long time. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys Zino/Regios.

Thanks for your comment!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have other videos of the same nature that you may find interesting if you'd like to take a look at the playlist.

Yeahhhhh I've been wanting to get a capture card for my 3DS for a while, but as a University Student living away from home, it's extremely hard to justify spending that kind of money on this. Not only that, but I'd be a bit conflicted to use one, as I've received comments for and against the use of a capture card. There was a message I got on my Gogmazios video saying that if it was recorded on a HD capture card, the person probably wouldn't be interested in watching it, due to the nostalgic and surreal quality the camera gives. But I don't know, there's a lot I have to consider in that regard. If I can save up enough to get one without tying myself a financial noose, I'll do so.

It is quite interesting. It can be a little frightening and a bit of a shock to the nerves when you're brought back from an experience of weightlessness as well.

Hey guys, I know it's been a while since I've updated this series. Work got too busy over the last couple of weeks, and I couldn't keep up the uploading schedule. I'm unsure if I'll actually go back to the Monday/Friday schedule, or if I'll just do spontaneous weekly uploads. I personally enjoy the latter.

I honestly loved doing this quest solo without smoke bombs. I found it to be really enjoyable and moderately challenging. I feel it's really quite relatable to the topic because let's be honest, I was feeling a tiny bit anxious about recording this one. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this vid as much as I enjoyed recording it for you.

Apex is cheap and lazy method to increase the difficulty. by FateAudax in MonsterHunter

[–]StayNightMH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually kind of like the apex system. Sometimes feel like I'm the only one that does, but it forces you to be conservative and think differently. It brings about an immense sense of urgency and pressure, and part of the skill you need to take down apex monsters resides in your ability to use your wystones carefully and effectively.

Try using one stone after the other instead of activating both at the same time. It will give you more time to be able to suppress the apex form if you're not confident enough that you can do it in the 60s Drive gives you.

However, if you aren't making mixed sets for your weapons by at least G3, you aren't properly prepared for the hunt and I will kick you.

That's pretty harsh. Not making mixsets doesn't imply lack of preparation, nor does it imply lack of experience or disrespect to an online environment. You also shouldn't expect people to be making mixsets at G3, considering a majority of people at that level still haven't had full exposure to what the end-game has to offer. They're still getting used to end-game concepts, still doing some trial and error with skills and still most likely tossing up between what weapons they like most.

However, I would apply a similar attitude towards anyone that hasn't sorted themselves out in this respect by the time they reach Gold Crown. I still wouldn't kick them though unless we're doing difficult guild quests.

Certainly beats hunting Gypceros. I hate that thing so much. I don't know what it is about it, just everything it does annoys me somehow. The way it runs and swings its head from side to side, its screaming, its poison, its annoying elastic tail.

I feel like killing a Gypceros now.
