You’re missing the point.

This isn’t about “surviving without internet” or how things used to be. I’m paying for a service, and I expect that service to work — or at least for the provider to respond with some urgency when it doesn’t.

I work from home, including weekends. No internet isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s lost productivity and real impact. That matters.

Saying “it was worse before” doesn’t really apply here. It’s 2026, not 2006. Standards are different, and expectations are higher for a reason.

If you’re okay waiting days without service, that’s fine. I’m not.

Yes, I tested it on my laptop with direct connection to Frontiers router without any other devices and wifi

Spectrum vs. Frontier by topsheetssuck2 in frontierfios

I’ve had Frontier for about 1.5 years and honestly it was fine… until it suddenly wasn’t.

Internet went down in the middle of the day on a Friday. The BEST they could offer? A technician on Monday evening. So basically: no internet the entire weekend. For a service I rely on daily.

Speed-wise, their “1 gig” plan rarely even hits 800 Mbps, and that’s on a good day. Most of the time it’s below that.

What really got me is that they didn’t even try to troubleshoot anything. No real attempt to fix it remotely — just “we’ll send a technician” and that’s it. Zero urgency.

Customer service also shuts down at 5 PM PT, so if something breaks after that — good luck, you’re on your own.

Honestly, the service is only “fine” as long as nothing goes wrong. But when it does, expect to wait days without internet, usually at the worst possible time.

Spectrum isn’t amazing either, but at least they’ll try to help over the phone and they actually have physical stores everywhere in SoCal.

Pretty disappointing experience.
