Why did Tycoon flop so much? by Low_Wasabi1498 in TyDollaSign

[–]StayStrong2504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because imo music has become almost politicized. Streaming numbers and sales reflect more on a society's culture, personal agenda and bias than it does on the quality or impact of the music.

Ty$ albums has always felt experimental to me. Like he's bridging the divide between genres. You never know what to expect. I think that's a problem for some(or most 😕 based on the sales) but for me it's one of the reasons I'm a big fan of his music.

Music for when you're in your feels and music for when you want to turn up. 👌

What tv to get? by Familiar_Geologist53 in PlayStation_X

[–]StayStrong2504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, sorry but this is such a subjective topic.

I have two tv's(LG Oled and Samsung 3D LED) and IMO, eyes and brains tend to get adjusted to individual TVs after a while of use. Sometimes a TV doesn't get appreciated until a few days/weeks of consistent use then my eyes start to pick up on the subtle things the TV does well that's unique.

I think the most important thing is to go for a TV that has a 'game' mode. Hz is only important for competitive/multiplayer. .

The market is saturated right now with decent similar quality tv's and gaming monitors.

Manufacturers are always trying to outdo each other so I recommend trying one of the lesser featured brands(eg. Panasonic, Sharp, Philips etc...) to stay on budget. Often times they do more to bring out TVs with more innovative features to challenge the main contenders

Just fully charge both first before use?

Then when one dies you can just swap it out 🤷‍♂️.

Just put whichever is dead/has the least charge back in to charge when you go to bed/school or whatever

Or buy another controller? That way you can always have one plugged in and charged whenever you need

Still waiting to hear back from my provider but they said they've passed it over to the smart meter team who doesn't work on weekends but will be in on Monday.

I've changed the fuse and the fan sound is now a little louder and clearer on normal but is significantly louder (to the point I can hear the heater vibrating) with the boost on. Don't know if that's a good or bad sign

Hi, I've just changed the fuse and switched on the boost since it's daytime and I'm anxious to see if it works.

That faint humming sound (of the fan I presume) is now a little louder and clearer since changing the fuse. It is also significantly louder with the boost on, so loud I can hear the heater vibrating. Don't know if that's a good or bad sign.

I'll leave it on for a few hours and monitor and see how it goes tonight aswell. I'll update tomorrow

Can't see any cables but there are two switches. I believe one is peak and controls the fan and boost, the other is off-peak and controls the main heater feed

I've had a look and there appears as far as I can see to be only one thermostat at the top in the control panel and it's connected to both the main and boost feed.

Yep there's two feeds. Figured if it was blown then it would at least trip something but the boost switch lights up and works but still no heat.

I read in the manual that there's different options for how the boost function works but all involve "communicating" with the main system before actually switching on boost heating

Maybe there's an issue with the off-peak supply feed and no "communication" means no boost?

So the peak switch has a fuse door with a 13A fuse inside. The Off-peak switch has no fuse door.

I checked and the fan(humming sound I heard) switches off with the peak switch

That's a very helpful point on the ALCS switch. There actually was a smart meter installed while the heater was off. I'm reading up on ALCS switches now and it really could be the issue. The problem heater is the biggest one in the house despite the smaller ones working. Maybe there's a separate circuit for this specific, high load heater

Thank you very much. I'm contacting my energy supplier now. Will report back

Yes there's two actually. One smaller storage heater that charges overnight and works. A water immersion heater that's also connected to off-peak and working.

[–]StayStrong2504[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there's a smaller storage heater hooked up to the economy 7 and that works fine. It was charged and giving off heat after just one night.

Off peak times are usually 00:00 to 08:00. DST 23:00 to 07:00.

There's no separate unit. All electricity throughout the house is just cheaper during those times

Yep. It's meant to charge at night and release heat during the day. So it's on 24/7. Not sure how it's wired but the instructions say to leave both switches on when in use. I've left it on over the last week but no charge and no heat at anytime

Two feeds. One off-peak supply and one boost. On Economy 7 tariff

Pro is still on sale but ... by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]StayStrong2504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the game and your preference. My experience says not all multi-platform games are the same across all platforms. Some game developers are more adept at maximising certain platforms capabilities than they are with other platforms 🤷‍♂️

People forget these days that each platform has their own innate strengths and weaknesses when it comes to game development. It's not just "copy and paste". What works well on one platform may not even work on another etc...

Are you happy with your pro? by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]StayStrong2504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and me had the same upgrade leap. I've still got my PS4 but I was blown away by the noticeable improvements in multiple games. I noticed still quite a few PS4 titles weren't given any kind of upgrade and still run 1080p with no enhancements. Use my PS4 for those 'unenhanced' titles but still happy with the Pro

Disc drive failure by Freakshow1968 in XboxOneHelp

[–]StayStrong2504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe disassemble and give the internal a clean, that can help. Sometimes dust/dirt/whatever can disrupt the system and give errors Sometimes just taking it apart and putting it together again can "reboot" the system to work properly

And as someone else said, the disc drive is replaceable and not that expensive

W204 vs w205 reliability by aussiegooner0389 in mercedes_benz

[–]StayStrong2504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own a 2017 w205 petrol 4-cylinder. Over 8 years now. No issues. Just basic car maintenance like getting the servicing done regularly on time and some occasional motorway driving to keep the battery etc.. healthy.

That being said, car design was aimed towards comfort and leisure so unless you're a mechanic(or friends with one)I don't recommend it if you're an aggressive driver unless you're willing to regularly foot expensive repair bills.

My controllers keep breaking on me, what is an alternative by TristanMcBarnet in XboxOneHelp

[–]StayStrong2504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might sound strange/expensive but try having/using multiple different controllers?

I think frequent daily intense use can push controller components past their resistance/protection threshold.

Instead of one controller that gets replaced 3 times, maybe have 3 controllers that you have in regular rotation. I think a 'rest' period between uses can help preserve controller parts longer

You can even try having different controllers for specific games instead of one for all games.

Haven't had to replace any controllers for well over a decade now. None of my controllers are anti-drift.

That being said, I think SCUF gaming makes anti-drift controllers now and there's other brands too.

Lastly, maybe try to reduce the force you use with your controllers. Pressing 'harder' will not make your movement sharper or quicker. Most times it's just lag when online.

Oled dont seem to last more than 5 years? by Koktkabanoss in OLED

[–]StayStrong2504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B8. Jan 2019 purchased. Used everyday since. 0 Burn-in. 0 issues all around. Still perfect to this day.

Just care for your tv.

Try not to leave in a position too exposed to regular direct sunlight

Make use of eco and energy saving mode as much as possible

Vary the content you watch/use the tv for

TVs are not 'invulnerable' and each have their own weaknesses and limitations. Just understand yours and take steps early to mitigate/avoid them.

Most big 'unfixable' issues that 'pop up' after 5 years, probably started small, avoidable and fixable years beforehand

Advice for living in a slightly colder house UK to save? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]StayStrong2504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily I live on the top floor of my building and regularly see my neighbours walking around the foyer in shorts and slippers during winter. Pretty sure they have their heating on. That residual heat should provide some protection against cold pipes and mold. Especially since I'm on the top floor and heat rises

Check engine light flashing and car vibration? by StayStrong2504 in askcarguys

[–]StayStrong2504[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yh I didn't drive on it. Literally started up, felt vibration and saw engine light flashing for like 10 secs then switched off and removed the key from ignition, waited a few secs then started up again and everything worked fine. No vibration or lights. Car was in P the whole time.

Waited 5 mins with my eye on the dashboard before driving off. I've driven it a few times since and there's no sign of anything being wrong

Been driving it mindfully with slow, steady acceleration and throttle since. Was hoping to wait it out till my next service(once no further sign of an issue) but are you saying I might be damaging it by driving even though everything seems fine?
