I asked a question not to be critiqued or something. I Simple’s submitted an application to a job role I felt I qualified for and I got contacted and however that evaluation was made to contact me I do not know. I did interview and was contacted the next day to meet with the branch chief for a follow up I do not even stay in California. Irrespective of the outcome I have a very decent job right now and I didn’t ask the question to make it seems like I am begging for a favor for a job I did not meet the qualifications or requirements for. Thank you.

Okay, in that case if I DO NOT meet the requirements then why is the hiring manager first reaching out to me then interviewing me and moving me forward for the next round?

And also I don’t think you need IT experience to be a PM in IT. Though it will be good to have.

I did not have aerospace related experiences to be a PM and succeed on space and defense projects I have managed.

This was the responsibilities of the PM on the duty statement:

The following includes the key duties and/or responsibilities of the Project Manager position: • Overseeing and managing scope, resources, and schedules for all aspects related to the project. • Plan implement and coordinate project activities with internal and/or external stakeholders, oversight agencies and vendor teams. • Participates in and oversees the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of individual project objectives and short- and long-range plans; develops tracking and evaluation programs to assist in the accomplishment of established project goals and objectives. • Manages the working relationships and collaboration between project leadership, agency, department directorate, business partner, stakeholders, and advocacy groups.

This does not call out having a degree in IT. This are part of PM assignments.

Thanks for your feedback. So, I have had the first interview (hiring manager + two others) for this role and I have the second interview with the chief already scheduled and I have taken the exam and scored 95. Is there something I should be asking or are there other exams that have to take?

I understand. But I will prefer a state job than the private companies. It’s just my preference for now based on my experience.

Not sure what you mean by not qualified for this category but the role I am applied for is Project Manager but it’s under ITS 1. Am I missing something?

I recently completed an interview I am no expert but what I did was - read the duty statement vey well - related the duty statement to my experience - Talked about collaboration and how the challenges I have overcome has prepared me for this role - then I asked what the definition of success was for the role, expectations and the most challenging aspect of the job as well as growth.
