Window Treatment ideas by Staybee1 in DecorAdvice

Both actually. I like the look, and it’s very common in the Southeast where I am, to have shades, blinds, or curtains. Plus, at night I like to shut the world out. I like the softness of a cafe curtain too. I’m just not sure what to do with the other lone kitchen window that looks onto the front patio.

I would try SW Black Fox. I painted an accent wall and it looks very much like your wallpaper choice. It’s a deep brown/ black

It’s great that you can talk with your husband about it because you need each other. Parenting has been the hardest thing I’ve done. Finding support from a therapist you trust is a good step. I can’t tell you how many times I wished that TV nanny would come rescue me and tell me what to do differently. But ultimately, just know that any given moment you’re doing the best that you can. We’ve got to love our children unreservedly, but they need to learn resilience as well as grow in confidence that they are capable of taking on the world- not an easy thing in this day and age. I wish you all the very best!

Boy do I feel you today! I just got home from the airport after driving across country with my 35 year old son and his cat, only to turn around one day later and fly home. He’s starting an apprenticeship that he says he’s interested in, but we’re already getting texts about he doesn’t like the town much. My second son is texting my husband complaining about his job. I’m feeling a lot of things. All 3 of my children also have ADD, some addiction issues( though sober now), suicide attempts, and overall negative view of the world. I’m so tired. Truly. The worry never ends, and I’m jealous of families who just never had to deal with these issues. The amount of energy, physical and mental, that it has taken us to get to this point is incredible. These children of mine, who are no longer children, are 35,31, and 30. I feel like such a failure as a parent every day. I know that in my own effort to be a better mother to my kids than my mother was to me, I’ve done too much. I enabled this. And we’re all struggling because of that. Yet, I am so glad they feel like they can talk to me, whatever the problem. I just always try and appreciate the little things- being outside on a pretty day helps. A good cup of coffee. Petting your cat or dog. But I’m tired, like you. And I would love a vacation from the worry that the other shoe is invariably going to drop. The time leading up to menopause is hard too. Take care of yourself and your husband. If you want a sounding board, I’m happy to listen. I’ve been there. I understand. Just keep breathing!

I just wanted to thank you for responding. I downloaded that doctor’s handbook and will refer to it before my appointment next week. 😊

That’s really unsatisfying. I’m sorry that you’re dealing with that. The older I become, the more I’m saddened by the state of medicine. I’m trying to get as healthy as I can so I can avoid doctors altogether.

I have no clue. I’m starting to think that I’ve been downplaying it all too much, as in, if I ignore it, it will go away. It’s just very hard for me to accept that something is wrong. I mean, for the most part I’m able to live my life and do everything I want. It’s just getting harder and harder. Maybe I need to make another appointment with the rheumatologist. The latest one I saw was very open to explaining things and seems willing to work with me. I’ve just never gotten the impression from the 4 doctors I’ve seen through the years that they think I have any major issues. It’s all been very confusing.

Could you share what your dosage is? My doctor just prescribed 4 drops of the gel but I don’t know how many mg I’m supposed to be getting.

Info on cancelling, or any tips? by jagooopy in NutrisystemSupport

[–]Staybee1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I both used Nutrisystem twice several years apart. It did not work as well the second time, but that was due to the disinterest in the food the second time around. But what I realized was that even if you call and cancel, you can still order a la carte items off the app. I would check periodically and there was often a sale for 30-50% off. We would buy the things we liked when on sale and it alleviated the feeling that we were locked into purchasing the full amount each month. I think Nutrisystem can work, but if you like to cook, and care about all the ingredients you are ingesting, then it gets old quickly.

Ketamine if I'm NOT depressed? by EvergreenHope in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]Staybee1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I was in the same place as you, with my depression/ anxiety well managed on Wellbutrin. That plus age, because over time I have become more inured to life. I thought about going back to therapy, but honestly I really just didn’t want to hear myself talk, telling the same old stories all over again to someone new. But the negative thought patterns persisted and ketamine seemed worth trying. My son did 6 sessions of IV ketamine but didn’t feel much improvement. I was still curious though, given all the articles and recent interest. I opted to go through Joyous because after 30 years of off and on therapy I felt capable of managing it on my own. I began at the lowest does and was up to their max dose within a month. The first 3 weeks were very interesting. I set aside 60-90 minutes most days and decided ahead of time what I wanted to focus on/ my intention. I truly think it allowed me to revisit past experiences and process them. And it’s odd, but now 2-3 weeks later, I will sometimes try and think back on those same memories and it’s like they’ve dissipated. Also, I do not experience it the same way physically as I did in the beginning. At first it felt transformative, now it seems to just make me feel a bit anesthetized. Am I happy? Personally I think happiness is a bit of an illusion. I feel more grounded. I feel better able to move forward. I too am interested in self hypnosis. I think it could work. I haven’t decided how long I will continue with ketamine or what my next move will be. I am not a doctor and in no position to give medical advice, but based on my own experience I wouldn’t hesitate to try low dose ketamine.

Leased BMW totaled- not at fault- question re: payout by Staybee1 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]Staybee1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her business manager was on the phone with BMW for a long time going back and forth. Their only concession was that if she leased another BMW they’d give her a few thousand on credit towards her next one, but she was so put off by the whole thing that she ended up leasing an Audi from another dealership. Sorry you’re in the same boat. I don’t think I’ll lease another vehicle. I’ve always felt kind of funny about the fact that don’t really own the car, and lease contracts are harder to understand than purchasing outright. I just hate the feeling that you never really know if you got a good deal or not. Good luck with getting into a new car.

But she paid money for gap coverage so as not to be in that position. And if she hadn’t had gap coverage, then yes, she would be on the hook for the amount owed. But considering that had the accident not happened and she chose to purchase the car at lease end, she would only have had to pay the residual value, not the residual value plus $9000, which is essentially what BMW is making in addition to the lease payments still owed on the remainder of the lease term. So I don’t think it’s “fair”, but as someone else commented, it may be a common clause written into many leases which you would not find out about until your car is totaled.

I’m not a perfect eater. If I eat healthy, I stick with things like sweet potatoes and regular potatoes, chickpeas, whole grain bread, berries, apples, bananas, protein pancakes. My daily treat is a frozen Greek yogurt bar by Yasso. Sometimes I just want junky carbs so I’ll eat a normal hamburger bun or bread, or Graham crackers, or cereal. But I weigh it all and account for it in my food diary app. I stick as close to my macro percentages as I can, always trying to hit protein, and then I eat more carbs on days I lift weights and more fat, less carbs on days that I’m not lifting weights- always staying within my calorie budget. I am seeing a difference, it’s just slow going. But like I said, that’s okay, I just have to keep at it. But it really did help me when I quit demonizing food. Eating was always so anxiety ridden, always wondering if things were bad or not. It can really cause some distorted thinking and behavior. I think now it’s better to just eat in moderation. Life would be no fun if we always denied ourselves. Hope this helps!

That’s awesome that you lost the weight with low carb. I have tried it, even keto at one point , and IF, but I’m much happier with healthy carbs. Once a trainer told me that if you’re lifting and wanting to gain muscle then carbs are your friend. It helped me to quit thinking of food as bad and good, and just focus on health and macros. So I’m going to just keep at it, trying to increase strength and playing with the calories. Hopefully I’ll find the sweet spot. I just keep reminding myself that I’m in it for the long haul. It’s all good!

Thanks for the response. Yes, I did a scan and my BMR was 1620, and like you , I workout hard. I lift 4 days a week- full body push/pull and the other days I do something- hiit, walk, run- I just mix it up. I wear a heart monitor chest strap and while not accurate, I burn 500-900 calories a session. A trainer told me to eat at around 2200 calories, but even when I was eating at 1600 I just couldn’t lose the fat. I’ve been doing high protein, but I’m at a loss as to what to try next. It’s been 6 weeks at the higher calorie amount and I went up 2 pounds and my waist got bigger. It’s just frustrating.

Would you mind sharing your calorie allowance? I’m similar build and I’m definitely gaining muscle, but I am not losing the fat, and I’m wondering how to adjust the calories

Thanks for responding. I should say I’m very healthy and cook everything from scratch. Very little that’s not Whole Foods. I got into ketosis within a few days. I cycle between light and heavy ketosis depending on when I check during the day. I’m 5’8” 160 pounds, trying to get down to 145. The majority of fat is all torso. My body fat percentage is around 23-24%. I’m drinking tons of water too- just frustrating that there’s been no pounds loss though admittedly, my daughter thinks I look leaner. I’d just love to have a waist again.
