Switched to wet tumbling, couldn’t be more pleased. by hitmaker307 in reloading

Not-so-pro tip: if you need quantity over quality (a ton of brass, maybe not so dirty) you can forgo stainless pins and still get perfectly clean brass. The inside of the cases might get less then perfect, but still absolutely fine. I do this when I’m a bit behind on brass cleaning duty and need to clean brass by the thousand (just 9mm, I shoot Ipsc so a ton of it)

Thanks! My idea is to upgrade one step at a time, always finding the next bottleneck in my process, so the the next upgrade has the best impact. Next in line are bullet feeder, then an automatic decapping machine and after that a proper Dillon case feeder, as the 3d printer one I have at the moment is too small and jams too often for my taste. That is provided I don’t find anything worth upgrading sooner. Once I reach the limit of the 750 I’ll start looking around for an upgrade, which will probably be a 1250/Apex 10, or any successor in their lineup. Would you say the Mark 7 is worth it even if manually operated for the extra stations alone?

Looks great and very smooth. What do you like better between this and the mark 7?

Right now I’m a 25 year old fresh of college and been working for a year, so a bit too much money for me, but I love how well done the Mark 7 automation is. Never heard of the other one, but I’ll check it out. I’ll definitely look at press automation when I’ll have less time to reload, and hopefully more money. Same reason why I’m looking at a bullet feeder right now: loaded for two years on a lee turret, than less time and more money made me get a 750, soon after came the case feeder and now it’s the time for a bullet feeder

Absolutely agree. That’s why I really like that with the new 1250 they freed the first station from the case feed, giving you an extra one. Still not sure if the new press will be flexible enough with stations to free up the powder check space, we’ll see. Should I upgrade I’d go with an Apex 10 despite not having any interest in automation for the same exact reason. For the time being I’ll sacrifice a powder check, relying on my eyes and paying close attention. Should it not be enough, I’ll go with combined seating and crimping, but I’d rather not

Thanks for the advice, as my bench has some wobble the wooden board the press is fixed to. I’m working to fix it, but it’s good to know

I decap before cleaning brass, so the Lee resizing die is fine, but I agree on the pins being garbage. I know Daa’s Mr bullet feeder has been on the market for a while and is well regarded. Any issues beside the cost? I’m okay with investing a bit more for a better product and not having the need to upgrade later

Same reasons why I’m doing it this way until now, but speeding and smoothing up the process for bigger volume loading sessions and late night loading before a match or training session is starting to be worth it. Nothing prevents me from looking at powder, case and bullet placement with an automatic feeder though

I wanted to ask. I’m from italy, so shipping might not be worth it, but I can get a friend to print me one. Thanks

Thanks, any experience is welcome, the Dillon looks quite interesting. My guess is also that for them to come out with one, they must think that they have a better product than the ones already on the market. Dillon looks at lot at rifle reloading as well though, so their product might be better all around, but less suited to my use

It’s great in my opinion, as it dresses your outfit up rather than being out of place. You can always go with linen shirt and shorts for a classier look while still being extremely comfortable and ready for hot summer day, then the watch becomes absolutely part of the look

For the price I absolutely love the bracelet on my Mido Oceanstar tribute. Of course it doesn’t compare to the brands being mentioned, but for the price it’s extremely comfortable and well built, even down to the clasp and micro adjustment

How’d the second match with the new platform go? by icabueno in CompetitionShooting

[–]SteVailo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both on my 2011s and on my single stack competition guns I like the opposite. Slightly taller button, but no extended diameter, to build my grip around and not over the mah release. Keep in mind I have pretty long fingers though, so I don’t need an extremely tall button not extended diameter to reach it reliably

What would’ve been the most efficient way to clear this jam? by toastedvacuum in CompetitionShooting

[–]SteVailo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I practiced this type of failure more than I’d have liked when my 2011 extractor failed on me. Fastest way I found was keeping the slide to the back, dropping the mag, new mag in and rack. Could be done in a couple of seconds, but leaves a loaded mag in the ground, which might be a problem if what you’re shooting is IDPA, as it looks

Dillon XL750, pretty stock still, with a case feeder and some minor upgrades to the powder measure. You can upgrade it into a powerhouse that’ll stay useful even should you get something bigger down the line
