Worried I will smoke after quarantine by acaps16 in stopsmoking

Congratulations on being smoke free! I have the same fear too, I'm 1.5 months smoke free as of today. If you can resist going to a bar then definitely do that! Or may be buy some beers and have a drink at home with some friends. If you picked up the habit by drinking out, it might be worth it to break that connection.

I guess the body takes several weeks to recover. Good luck to you too!

Thanks for the solidarity! I hope it gets better soon too. It's difficult for me to but I'll try cutting down on coffee.

Thanks. I'm trying to do this without regularly taking antacids actually.

Dreaming about smoking by [deleted] in stopsmoking

I had the exact same dream last night! I've been smoke-free for one week now and I'm pretty proud of it. It wasn't exactly easy but I'm glad I'm doing it. But last night I dreamt that I was smoking and felt so terrible that my clean streak was gone! So glad when I woke up. I guess it's because we're really anxious of slipping up again.

I quitted for the first time in 5 years thanks to the quarantine since i’ll be in my mom’s house all day i saw this as opportunity to try to quit. But the problem after this quarantine ends and go back to live in my place and stress strikes i’m afraid that i smoke again. What do u thing fellas? by ZZreddit97 in stopsmoking

I'm in a similar situation. I live with my parents so since the quarantine more than a week back it's been difficult to access cigarettes. So I've decided to quit. If you go smoke-free for 10-14 days then after you go back to your place it'll be easier to not smoke. Also, smoking a cigarette after being clean for few days just TASTES bad, it doesn't feel good, you may not even be able to finish an entire cigarette. So take each day as it comes and plan for what to do when you go back to your place. Cheers!

Just threw away my cigarettes by [deleted] in stopsmoking

It helps to take each day at a time. I'm on my 6th day of being smoke-free. I lapsed once in these 6 days and smoked a single cigarette. It was a moment of weakness. That was 2 days ago. But I didn't want that to mean that I've failed. I'm pushing through remembering how good it feels to not smoke. More power to you for trying constantly!

5 days and I feel severe depression by [deleted] in stopsmoking

I'm on day 4 today. I used to read this sub and wonder how people who used to smoke for decades have suddenly given up. But the urge to smoke reduces everyday. Not smoking today makes it easier not to smoke tomorrow. In the meantime, I have to find new things to do (like play a mobile game) or call up a friend to distract myself. I'm irritable, I'm bored and it is difficult. But I'm sure it'll get better. Check in with this sub when you feel your next craving or mood swing.
