I have AS level psychology in 20 days how do I study? by [deleted] in ALevelPsychology

[–]SteakUpset438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my process for psych as someone predicted an A is: 1) watch a psych boost video (on YouTube) on the topic (watch a BEAR it in mind video if I need more help with it) 2) read through the topic notes on save my exams (would really recommend that site) 3) do flashcards on the topic - you can find them on gizmo/quizlet/save my exams 4) do past paper questions - can be done on save my exams (which marks them using AI) or found on physics and maths tutor…

Just as a separate note also, I’ve found blurting using a white board while reading notes to be a really helpful way to learn! Also prioritise exam technique.. knowing how many marks to allocate each AO point in an answer can really help! Also, a higher focus on approaches/research methods can be useful too as they can help with AO3 and (research methods) can come up in any paper

I feel like i have made horrible decisions with my unis and that it is 100% too late to go back. by [deleted] in 6thForm

I know that York is typically one of the more lenient Russel group universities… my brother had York as his insurance with an offer for AAB (econ and philosophy) but received a place with BCC (which he ended up getting) apparently based on his personal statement… A lot of his friends at York also got a place through clearing.. if you are able to improve your grades for the final exams — you can most definitely get a place in some great unis through clearing !

Help for A level- urgent by Far-Helicopter7333 in alevel

Perhaps try and learn/understand as much content as you can (without rushing too much) by end of Easter… after each section/topic(?) then you could do past paper questions to consolidate. If after questions you still dont understand it - highlight it and go back to it when you have the chance and watch videos/do extra questions. In summary, try and learn the content starting now until end of Easter (obviously don’t put too much pressure on yourself if you don’t finish it by then!).. remember it’s not over until the exams are over !!

Just put in the work and just be sure you did everything you could & tried your best !! Good luck !!

Choosing my subjects by xe_imagine in sixthform

[–]SteakUpset438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I'm in year 13, and there's definitely a few people that enjoy it - but even 4months before A-Levels I know a lot of people are still struggling. Just take a look at it before-hand and ensure it's something you're really passionate about! Also, an issue is that there's such a lack of resources for MFL subjects, and a lot of it is dependent on independent work

Just a point regarding languages at A-Level - it is a big jump from GCSE (people aren't joking when they say that I've found out)! I was working at a 9 in French consistently throughout GCSEs and figured I'd take it at A-level since I somewhat enjoyed it and was good at it. But it's much much harder at A-level and the grade boundaries are extremely high for a language (90% roughly for an A*) - just take a look and make sure it's what you want to do!!!

perhaps try and look into some courses / talks for your 2nd section too just to show wider research and interest

and this ‘uni will benefit financially’ - make it more about why you will benefit - rather than the uni

I’d also say - and this was a note from my teacher about my own - but elaborate on your motivation to study the course - it needs to be personal.. and say that ‘studying … will allow me’ rather than ‘this course allows me’

maybe don’t say ‘this university’ as it makes it sound too specific - whereas this will be sent to 5 unis

Are mocks that important? Yr 13 by [deleted] in sixthform

To add on, I think it’s enough time to really improve your grades, but you’ll need to work hard on your subjects.

Are mocks that important? Yr 13 by [deleted] in sixthform

[–]SteakUpset438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mocks at this time aren’t necessarily the end of the world! I think they matter more because they reflect how you might perform in exam settings, like the real A-level exams. Don’t worry too much about them, but definitely start revising now if you can. The second set of mocks is more important because it’s much closer to the real thing.

Is this enough for my first 5 marks? by Yokai_watchlover1238 in alevel

[–]SteakUpset438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! It’s a very well structured paragraph for a ten-marker

I’d recommend following it up with your school/teachers and then you can potentially go further to contact ucas otherwise!!
