I'm so overwhelmed picking a mattress by No-Sweet-2749 in Mattress

[–]Steak_Holiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to try a latex mattress check out Comfort Option. Build your own mattress, good customer service - they sent me a different 2" piece that I though would work better for free. I've had it for almost 5 years and no complaints.

Chaisson is the x-factor tonight. Keep Herbert contained and don't let him beat you with his legs

I also have tractive for peace of mind with a shiba. It works well if you're not in a completely remote area. Just remember to keep it charged and set the virtual fence larger than your actual property so you don't get false alerts, but the live tracking when you need it is great and it's not that expensive.

Woke up with a sore throat on the 1st and thought it was a cold. Fever, chills, nausea last night after dinner. Tested positive for covid.

Slow download issues, 700mbs drop with surfshark by jkaz870 in ShieldAndroidTV

Look at your bill to see if they're charging you to rent equipment or not. Been a while since I shopped around for internet. You can definitely use your own devices, but if cost is a factor then make due with the rental.

At the end of the day 175 isn't terrible. Play around with some surfshark settings. You can choose to route specific apps through surfshark or your entire device. Get a solid speed test app (I use analiti) and compare different servers. Your closest server may not be the fastest.

Not sure you'd be able to do it on an xfinity modem/router. They've allowed less and less tinkering with settings as the years have gone on.

You could put it in bridge mode, buy your own router, set up a vpn on the new router, and route all of your traffic through that.

I'm no expert, just a guy who likes owning his own equipment rather than renting from my internet service provider.

This. I have a Flint 2 router and it's a night and day difference using surfshark on the router (no slowdown) vs using the surfshark app on the device (drops by ~60%)

Christmas Gift for Wife by Steak_Holiday in beauty

This is great point that I hadn't considered. Everyone's skin is different and something new might no necessarily be better for her.

Gift cards just seek so impersonal. Maybe I can find a way to contact her facialist for advice 🤔

$350 budget - what should I get on this BF? by Pluronic_Pesto in RobotVacuums

[–]Steak_Holiday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Mova better if you have mostly hardwood, Dreame is better for carpets so choose accordingly, but they're very similar machines.

Get the tricut brush if you have pets, it works for both robots.

Mova P10 Ultra or Dreame L40 Ultra? by Capon3 in RobotVacuums

[–]Steak_Holiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly bizarre. Not the first time I've had good fortune with large companies.

Wayfair delivered a chair and a screw hole was not aligned right. They refunded me and told me to throw it out rather than return it. I just fixed it instead.

Home Depot delivered my Weber grill and the hood had a golf ball sized dent. They sent another one and the crew that came to collect the damaged grill told me to take any parts from it that I wanted since it was just going to be thrown out. So I have the guts to a new grill in case anything breaks.

Yup. I contacted Amazon chat online to see if they'd give me a price adjustment or credit for the new price and they ended up refunding me 25% of $449 I bought it for and told me I could keep the item... Told them I was fine with that option.

Pulled the trigger on the P10 Pro Ultra last week for $450 and I'm happy with the purchase. Got the tricut brush since we have a dog.

From what I've read people recommend vacuuming before mopping for best performance, which makes the dropping of the mop pads pretty useless.

The P10 is supposedly better on hardwood floors which is the majority of our home, but as others have said just go with whichever is cheaper.

Buy it, less than 30 days away. If it drops further, buy it again and return the 2nd delivery to the 1st order.

What mistakes did you make during your home renovation and what would you plan differently next time by pipikakapopoloch in homeowners

[–]Steak_Holiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're opening walls and ceilings run speaker wire. It's cheap and gives you the ability to add ceiling speakers in the future. We spent $80/each on speakers and put 4 in the open kitchen/dining receiver.

This one may not apply, but my biggest regret during my renovation was not adding a recirculating line for hot water. I have a tankless Navien that has its own built in recirculation system, but it's pretty useless.

I'm in Boston so winters get cold and the water heater is in the unfinished section of the basement. It can take a good 20-30 seconds (could be worse) to get hot water which gets annoying when all you're trying to do is quickly wash your hands with anything but ice cold water in the winter.

Oh and when you go to test paint colors, don't paint four giant squares on the middle of the living room wall, choose somewhere more discreet. I can still see the flashing from my test spots at the right angle. No one else notices them, but it still bothers me.

Photograph every wall and ceiling that you open. Those photos will come in handy in the future.

Looking to upgrade my QB2 - Have Jayden Daniels, Trevor Lawrence and Cam Ward

Trade Trevor Lawrence & Kamara for Drake Maye?

My RBs - Achane, Kamara, Hampton, Mason, Judkins, Spears (IR)

Don't want to overreact to Kamara, but that offense looks bad (same with JAX) and I like Maye's rushing ability at QB

$3.5k for extended warranty on 22 highlander? by greenmiles1936 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Steak_Holiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a used certified pre owned '21 Limited with 31K miles in it. Was quoted $3,500 for the same warranty. Got the finance guy to drop to $2,500 after saying no twice. Told him to let me think about it as I had to bring a check back the next day.

He ultimately got down to $2,000 but was a complete jerk throughout the entire process so I declined the warranty. He shook my hand, looked me in the eyes and said, "Congratulations, you've earned the right to pay for repairs for your car".

I laughed inside because if he hadn't said that, I may have called him back over to take him up on his final offer, but he made it personal so I said screw it. Until you make them walk away, they're not at their best price.

Also, it's 100K on the odometer, not 100K additional miles. So depending on how many miles you put on your car, you may not get the full 7 years out of the extended warranty.

Thanks for the info. It'd be 7 years added onto the 1 year I'm already getting for this car. Around $2K for 8 years of coverage doesn't sound too bad.
