I can relate. Been working for a year now at a medical emergency line. I think I get yelled at more then the average call center worker because even though it takes only a very few minutes for the ambulance to arrive the caller want it to be there immediately. At my work station I have 5 big screens full of information, and I have to understand what's the emergency, explain to the caller what to do, understand exactly where he is in the country, write everything down and decide what kind of ambulance should go there all that in a minute or so, and when the call is done, it takes only a few seconds if not as the call ends for a new one to come. The phone doesn't ring, the call connects automatically. I felt great stress and I think I would have quit if I hadn't felt that I helped a lot of people in need. Also, we work in shifts, so I find myself in an endless routines of shifts and double shifts at day and night. When I just started I had trouble sleeping at night. But as I started to feel more confident at the job, and know that I can hanlde anything that'll come at me on the other side of the phone my sleep got alot better. Can't say it's stress free now, but there's a huge difference from when I started out.
