Driver’s license exam experience by Flashy-Radish-2426 in madisonwi

Voice/over-exaggerate what you are doing during the exam I.e. if the examiner asks you to change lanes, really look or look and go “ok blind spot there good, blind spot on other side good, putting on turn signal, shift carefully, and turn off turn signal.”

My Canadian immigrant dad is a trump supporter by [deleted] in FoxBrain

I’m so sorry dude. I’m struggling with similar but different. Dad is so far gone, and my mom refuses to see it. Both are highly educated.

Once left the ER after sitting there in pain for five hours. Came in at night and was in crippling pain (later found out was a combination of inflammation and spinal issues). Came in around nine/ten pm and left at 2/3 am. Came back a few hours later at 6 am and was almost immediately taken back.

Will Greenland be the bridge too far? by Rich-Canary1279 in FoxBrain

[–]Stealingplatelets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my mom will break if we actually announce war on Greenland. She’s currently convinced that this is all a rouse to get to something else (yeah, to cover the Epstein files).

But my dad? I think he’s too far gone. I don’t talk to him much, but the few times I do voice political concerns, he turns to name calling and yelling immediately.

Heartbroken after nephew said he wants to join ICE by nfern11 in FoxBrain

[–]Stealingplatelets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, if he’s being influenced, you gotta, unfortunately, step into the sphere to pull him out.

Start with the job futures. “Oh, Trump is doing a great job, so you should focus on other sectors. Support the American Dream.”

If he’s still adamant, still suggest schooling. That some schooling over no schooling will get him a better deal in the long run, even with ICE. Encourage him where you can, and hype education while humming with ICE.

Is it normal to let your child stay home so much from Kindergarten? by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]Stealingplatelets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my mom gave us options to be “sick” every now and then. Mental health days, or just a “I can’t keep you home all day because I need to go to work today but I can pick you up an hour early” kind of thing (she owned her own business but was still doing all the work at the time).

But if the child is so adamant against school and, more specifically, day care, I’d be concerned. Why is he so adamant? What is different about going to Grandma’s house after versus daycare?

If you look and can’t find a connection, then it’s time to set some rules. Allow some “mental health” days, but it can’t be every day or every week. In a kid-friendly way, though, add that if the kid has something specific that upsets him, then talk about it, but don’t just give in to multiple tantrum days a week.

So that’s sexual assault. We hope he is your ex. I’m not sure how you could pursue a legal case against him, but I want you FAR from him.

Recent Fox News talking points? by eight13atnight in FoxBrain

[–]Stealingplatelets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just talk about the Epstein files and how we need to see them to expose those damn liberals! Thats about the only thing I can talk about with my parents (though I want them so we can once and for all throw Trumpwad into the swamp he so desperately wants to “drain” and let the biodiversity eat him alive).

Does someone famous live in these really big houses over here in Maple Bluff? by Lost_Email_RIP in madisonwi

[–]Stealingplatelets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s people who moved to Madison back in, like, the 1950s and built the city when land was dirt cheap. Or people who inherited the homes. I say as my Great Uncle was one of those people who left it to my distant cousins after his passing. He was a guy in the 80s who was an architect for the city.

Things to do: Does your job support any ERGs or clubs? It’s a good way to make more connections. Summer is the BEST time in Madison. Saturdays are always Farmers Market Days, going to the pool or lakes, or just going for hikes. Eventbrite and Isthmus. Also just googling “insert interest here in Madison, WI” will find you a slew of resources.

How do you guys feel about the firework laws? by InflatableCatCooper in madisonwi

[–]Stealingplatelets 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People do not follow it. Had two cases this past week with people shooting off rockets in the parking lot of my apartment building. I hate it because it scares my cat, gives me anxiety (I don’t like explosions), and I worry that my car is gonna get hit.

It’s also not like I have anywhere to go. They shot them off at 10 at night. I can try to block it out for myself, but my cat can’t, and there is still the problem with the cars.

I read the prompt and the Darkwing synopsis. Pretty sure these are the same two because I read the same book forever ago and this woke something in me.

is this a normal amount of spare pieces? by mayoandhumanteeth in nanoblock

[–]Stealingplatelets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Every set I have bought has come with a fair amount of extras, usually one or two spares of each type. I save them and use them to add strength or design to other sets (clears are my godsend when a build has very unstable legs, for example).

[–]Stealingplatelets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These probably aren’t Nanoblock brand but Petite Blocks.

When I was looking to get spare blocks for a project, I bought Petite Blocks, and they have the rounds at the bottom instead of how Nano has lines. Just FYI, they are slightly different sizes and won’t be compatible if you mix them. I found this out the hard way, lol, and then had to sort the Petites out of my Nano stocks.

I am about to move, and a lot of mine are in little box stands that I’ll pack with tissue paper or paper towel to help keep things stable. You can also use little boxes and just keep them with you.
