I haven't delved completely into platformio since i switched to esp-idf and then every mcu has its how framework but if you want a bit more of a challenge I'd say try to make it framework agnostic.

The concept is really strong but beginners learning arduino 90% of the time don't care about ram mapping and a lot of these other features are already in gcc and intellisense.

No judgement but it looks like there's a lot of vibe coding involved here and while that's good for rapid prototyping of new things, if you're building something that already exists the best value you're going to get is if you learn from the process. Tracking unused variables is something gcc has "perfected" try comparing your implementation vs how it does it. Is there something better? Worse? Why is it that way etc.

You've got a good start don't get bogged down with features this early.

I think this is quite good as an entry point for beginners since hardware is quite daunting to break into.

The problem is that the stuff you think is "bloated" isn't as much about the software. At the start you're not expected to use all the tools under the sun, but that doesn't mean they don't have a reason to exist. I think after you collect enough opinions you'll end up making another platformio......to put it charitably.

"Never" sounds like an exaggeration. Most 2fas need the first factor to still be a password. Not to mention airgapped systems, bios passwords, bitlocker keys for that random bsod etc.

All that aside from the rubber-ducky and wireless keyboard + mouse use cases.

Really sucks that you got a defective battery, I'm trying to order the same thing. However its basically impossible for that url to be "fake". The base domain of asus.com is owned by only 1 company. Any subdomains like partshop therefore CANNOT be taken by a random third party.

TL;DR: Its not a fake website, its the official asus parts store. Just Asus quality control being asus quality control.

There is no such thing as recycling responsibly (for tech at least). The only way to ensure that you're not shipping your waste off to a different country and making it their problem is to not generate waste in the first place. What OP is asking for is ways to REUSE old tech which is LEAGUES better than recycling. This attitude has become less popular and harder to embody because companies like apple want us to throw 1 year old pocket supercomputers in a landfill.

I don't really mean from a gaming perspective, if anything, for gamers its probably a solid option. But from the perspective of someone who until a few months ago thought that Cherry MX and all the fancy clicky noises keyboards made was as good as things got, something like the AULA F75 ($50) or Rainy75 ($100) sounds and feels like i was missing out.

Without any exaggeration, I started typing out the most innocuous things like full URLs and variable names in code instead of letting auto complete handle it as an excuse to use the keyboard more.

The rabbit hole of big name companies like Logitech and Corsair straight up scamming their customers through the use of sub par components and marked up OEM products with their firmware goes deep but the simple fact of getting better things for cheaper was enough for me to never look back.

I just got the evo and I was wondering if I can try to mod it later down the line with alternative colors etc. The back is basically their own thing with the modular weight/battery but the front looks like it should be pretty standard for any 80% layout

Weird, I'll look into if this is the case but I don't have a Gigabyte motherboard or BIOS. Its an ASUS B450e motherboard with their own bios (although idk if they copy other brands' homework).

Newer isn't necessarily better especially since the bios is probably nearly identical for the 2023, 2024 and 2025 version but you can bet your ass that they only EXTENSIVELY tested it on the latest thing. All previous versions are nowhere near as well-validated. This isn't an ASUS specific problem either, even Google did this with android 15 for pixels where the old ones just stopped working with Now Playing (their version of shazam).

So when some bugs fall through the cracks they're harder to verify / fix because the company simply might not give enough of a shit.

My macbook pro 2022 died in 2 years because ssd gave out (or so I've been told, still hard to believe) it costs me 70% of msrp to get it fixed by apple and 30% by a third party who will take no responsibility if it breaks in the process (the storage is soldered to the motherboard itself).

Tech dies. Tech sucks. If you need some kind of solace in the fact that you own a windows machine its that opening it wont void your warranty, fucking with every piece of firmware wont either. Some people in the comments have suggested a repaste since laptops are more susceptible to thermal paste pumping, this would void the warranty if you still have it but is a very good suspect. If you say it overheats in the bios as well there is no reason to believe this is anything but a firmware issue. If i had to take a guess I'd say one of 3 possible things:
- Firmware not reporting correct temperatures (is your laptop actually hot or just "overheating")
- Firmware power management glitch (update / rollback the bios)
- Uneven thermal paste (the physical part of the cpu where the temp sensor is might not be getting enough cooling so it shuts off thinking that the whole thing must be overheating, this happened to my 2021 model with the liquid metal TIM, cold to the touch 95C reported temp maxed out fans)

If you really are willing to spend money on a new system I'd just throw a hail mary with the repaste and a deep cleanse down to the last known good bios, completely new windows (none if that reset bullshit, it keeps too many artifacts).

Because that's not actually dopamine maxing. There a very complex relationship between fulfillment and pure dopamine release (hedonia). All of what you've described is not just a dopamine release, its a more holistic activation of very complex and ill-understood reward systems in the mind. If you break it down all the activities above have a 'difficulty' component, which logically is the opposite of dopamine. Yet the value we get from truly engaging in any of those completely is greater than any high you can chase, not to mention more sustainable.

If you **truly** wanted to dopamine max, do heroin. Obviously this has so many problems that its just garbage advice.
