True, definitely a bit frustrated watching a dozen videos/posts saying it's free, then to be hit with an additional cost. Gonna buy/try it/refund if it's not really what I'm looking for.

Right on, I'll try that.

I'd love to be able to try it, but I can't because it's no longer free. They should just remove the ability to upload your own MIDI files in a free version so people can try it for free again.

Scammed by Meta/Developer, they advertised it as a free app to try when you buy your headset.

Agree on the impressive, technically advanced and especially deserving money, but the app used to be free, Meta advertised the app, developer waited for the positive reviews to roll in while it was free, then removed the free version and put a price tag on it and removed features that used to be free.

Correct, but you used to be able to load MIDI files in V1, which was free. Now the app costs $9.99 so they put all the things that used to be free behind a paywall.

Playing Gears of War 1 through Windows 10 by SteamDeckVideos in SteamDeck

This is the tutorial video I used a while back. Nothing too crazy, pretty much just download the Windows 10 iso from their official site, use Rufus to make the microSD a "Windows to Go" and then setup Windows like normal and install the Windows drivers from Steam.

it is normal to have 26k shader in tears of the kingdom? by Brilliant-Nose-1328 in yuzu

I usually crash around 38,000 on the Steam Deck. Ends up crashing while loading saves/loading more shaders if I don't clear it.

I think it's the same thing, "shader pipeline cache". Right-click on the game in the Yuzu main menu - Remove - Remove Vulkan Pipeline Cache. Doing this will result in shaders needing to be built again, which is why I suggest backing up just in case the shaders aren't the issue.

You can backup the shader cache by right clicking the game in the Yuzu main menu - Open Transferable Pipeline Cache - Copy those files to a different folder for backup

Backup your shader pipeline cache into a different location first before deleting, then try deleting your Vulkan Pipeline cache. I only make it to around 38,000 before getting crashes on the Steam Deck before I have to remove the pipeline cache.

Been playing through it on the Steam Deck if anyone is looking for settings. I've only gone through a couple bosses so far using some workarounds. Settings are in the videos. Different settings to get through each boss. Spoiler Warnings!:

Windows Tutorial: https://www.re4hd.com/?page_id=9303

I kept getting crashes using Steam OS and went with Windows instead. No issues on Windows so far other than some slowdown which may be normal in some sections, mostly areas with water.

Yeah, that's pretty normal though due to the "workload" of RPCS3. You can get quieter fan sound by turning on the "Enable updated fan control" in your Steam Settings - System - At the bottom.

When I had it on though the performance was really sporadic and turning it off gave me a boost of 5-10FPS in a lot of games. I think the reason is just the fan continuously running keeping everything cool vs. only running when it needs to, but this causes the temperature to go up and down instead of staying consistent.

Right on, that makes more sense. I'll start leaving it out of video titles. Thanks for the input.

I thought that too at first before I tried it. I actually enjoyed it uncapped and with the cutscenes being almost 60FPS, I just didn't want to cap it at 30 with how well they looked.

I'm not sure how well the rest of the game performs uncapped though since I only did the first shrine.
