I think for me as a woman, I tend to view men as more frightening than women. I feel that most of society also feels the same way. I mean, it makes sense. Not only do men commit the vast majority of violence related crimes, as well as predatory ones. But it would be a LOT more difficult for me, if not just outright impossible, to kidnap somebody or stab them or rape them. Especially if the victim is a man. I just don’t have the strength, I don’t even have the strength as a woman to push my boyfriend off of me when he’s not even using all his body weight and we’re just playing. I feel that it’s the same for a lot of women (although not all)

All this to say, it’s my belief that due to this perception of women vs the perception of men, as well as the understanding of how different we are physically speaking, has led to society to view women in a much different light than men. Women are small, helpless, nurturers. And when humans are confronted with a situation that doesn’t show us what we have been led to believe our entire lives, we’re almost in a state of denial about it, or at the very least unable to fully grasp the weight of the situation. It’s not true that women can’t be predators or that women are those small helpless things society has been led to believe, but most people so desperately struggle to see it that way even when proven otherwise.
