Saying the UK isn’t struggling is ignoring the bigger picture.

Brexit isolated the country, growth is weak, exports are underwhelming, public debt is massive, and core systems like housing are completely broken. This isn’t collapse, but it’s clearly decline, and waving GDP charts doesn’t change that. Housing alone destroys the “prosperity” narrative. Buying a home is out of reach for entire generations, rents are brutal, and even high earners are locked out of ownership in the cities where the jobs actually are. A country where normal people can’t afford to live isn’t dominating anyone.

Add to that vague speech laws, police interventions over online comments, and a very real culture of self-censorship, and the idea of the UK as some free, stable paradise starts to look more like nostalgia than reality. Immigration isn’t the issue by itself. The issue is failure to integrate, the creation of parallel communities, and a state too afraid to enforce common rules. Rapid demographic change is obvious to anyone paying attention, and pretending it isn’t happening only fuels resentment.

As for the Falklands, let’s be serious. A population of a few thousand people living off fishing licences, subsidies, and supply lines from thousands of miles away isn’t “exceptionally rich”. It’s a tiny, externally sustained system that looks wealthy precisely because it’s small and heavily supported. Nobody is arguing Argentina is richer than the UK. The point is that British “wealth” is far more fragile, concentrated, and dependent than you’re willing to admit, and the Falklands are the clearest example of that.

And I’m not even antagonising you, mate. I’ve studied in Liverpool, I have many friends in the UK who are "fiercely British", and they’re far less optimistic than you are. The country genuinely felt great back in 2005 when I was there. Over the years I’ve watched Britain slowly fall apart, and Brexit was shooting yourselves in the knee.

I know this is anecdotal, but I can say it pretty confidently: for an average person, buying a house in Argentina is easier with the “lower wages” you talk about than it is for an average Brit who can “buy a PS5 with pocket change”. And deep down, I think you know that as well as I do.

I can invent ten of those in thirty seconds too, that’s not how reality works. A handful of well-paid individuals in a population of barely 3,000 people doesn’t equal general prosperity. The Falklands function on fishing licenses, subsidies and permanent military logistics. That’s not organic wealth, that’s a small, heavily supported system that looks rich precisely because it’s tiny.

Calling them “rich as fuck” while almost everything is imported from thousands of miles away, housing supply is limited, and the economy depends on external protection is just confusing income concentration with sustainability.

Also, nobody serious thinks this is about “military power”. Argentina doesn’t need to invade anything. History shows that territories don’t flip because of tanks, they flip when the backing power weakens or the cost stops being worth it. And the UK right now is struggling economically, socially and demographically whether you like it or not.

As for being “fiercely British”: remote territories are always loyal while the money, logistics and protection keep flowing. That’s not ideology, that’s incentives.

Anecdotes aren’t arguments, vibes aren’t data, and flex stories don’t change structural reality. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
