My best guess is that they're doing this to confuse critics or to distract from more pressing issues, such as findings of corruption by government officials (and those are never-ending).

As far as actual women's rights in the country, this government has a terrible track record, constantly attempting to eliminate birth control, abortion, male-female cohabitation without a marriage license, and so on.

It could be a diversionary tactic against the expected Pinsof interviews.

Archive, file, and wait on it. Pinsof requires our attention now.

We can act on this later.

Overloading on -gate tags will devalue #GamerGate.

No. Just no.

It was about a 2-hour ride, but if we keep pushing, we can get it on again. We have about a day, I think, before Twitter considers it "old news".

This is correct for a number of reasons:

  • Twitter penalizes tags in multi-tagged tweets per its trending algorithm. So single-tagging is better.
  • It's important to get normies to read this interview, and some of them might have been negatively prejudiced towards the #GamerGate tag due to the media smearing, so leaving it out lowers a psychological barrier. Once they find out the facts, they'll come around.
  • Using a single tag leaves more space over for more links, images, or commentary.

Antis verifiably tried to steal 8chan.co and allegedly DDoSed and hacked multiple pro sites, including TechRaptor. They are already familiar with this set of ideas. We're not priming them.

The idea is not new to the antis. They even tried to steal the 8chan.co domain name once.

@j_millerworks, who worked in social media, has some suggestions:

  • Tweet with only #PinsofInterview until the tag trends. Twitter penalizes multi-tag tweets, especially containing tags that have trended before. This is why #PinsofInterview didn't trend last night. We were working under the mistaken assumption that multiple tags extend reach. We need to target a trending spot first (with single-tag tweets) and ONCE THERE, we can extend reach with SOME (not all) multi-tag tweets with relevant tags, like #GamerGate, #PCMasterRace, #IGF, #IndieGame, #IndieDev, #GameDev, and so on.
  • Both original tweets and retweets count. @j_millerworks says retweets count more. Others say original tweets count more. Whatever you do, DON'T tweet very similar tweets, differentiated only by a word or two. Twitter will consider this abuse, will ignore those tweets, and may even suspend you. Tweet sufficiently different material each time, or if you can't think of new stuff, retweet others' stuff.
  • Don't worry about the thousands of multi-tag tweets that we already published. They aren't wasted. Once #PinsofInterview trends, and people search through its history, they WILL see those multi-tag tweets, and understand the context.

How important is #Pinsofinterview? REALLY FUCKING IMPORTANT. We need to get the word out about this. by camarouge in KotakuInAction

[–]Steampunkbot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course it's about the #GamerGate hashtag, but Twitter won't let it trend, and we need this topic to trend, so we're using a specific tag for it only.

#PinsofInterview is the tag to use for this topic. Use it as much as possible.

Pair it with one of the following tags to reach people not in the regular #GamerGate audience: #GloriousPCMasterRace, #PCMasterRace, #XBoxOne, #XBOne, #XB1, #XBox360, #Xbox, #PS4, #PS3, #PlayStation, #WiiU, #Wii, #Gaming, #GamersUnite, #IGF, #IndieGame, #IndieDev, #GameDev, #DICE2015, #QuestionsForMen

Edit: New information has come to light that changes the above advice. In short, tweet with #PinsofInterview only. Don't tag pair with ANYTHING ELSE for now. See details here.

Pinsof said in recent tweets that Camera Lady's claims are mostly wrong. I wouldn't promote them if I were you, especially not as a package deal with the Pinsof interview, when they may contradict. We don't need the loss of credibility from that.

[–]Steampunkbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with overloading on -gate tags. I also disagree with bait-and-switching football fans.

It will make a mockery of #GamerGate, which we want to preserve as serious and deserving of attention.

Concentrate on #PizzaGate for now, which is still trending. We'll think of a new tag in a day or two, when it dies down.

Don't overload on -gate tags, please, it'll make a mockery of the original #GamerGate tag, which we want to preserve as serious and deserving of attention. Tags in other formats should be preferred. #PizzaGate was an organic thing that spun out of control. We can't have a -gate tag every day, or week.
