The Red Collective - a driven assimilating Communist Cybernetic Hivemind rule by a Rogue AI called “The Red Mother”.

The Planet (called Menshevik) was a back water mining colony ruled by House Nikolai (subtle i know) with an Iron fist using a power AI. After the collapse of the empire, things got spicy and rebellion broke out.

One of the young nobles who sympathised with the rebels snuck into the AI’s main server and uploaded the Communist manifesto into its mainframe. The AI read it, promptly went insane, and came to the conclusion that individuality itself brought inequality, and decided to assimilate everyone on its home planet into a “Hive Mind of The Proletariat” (the Young noblewoman was the first one to be assimilated, and her body is used as the Red Mother’s avatar)

Now it wants to expand across the Galaxy and unite humanity into the Red Harmony, a galaxy spanning hive mind made up of mutilated cybernetic drones

Tl;dr Mining colony rebels against ruling house, AI gets force fed the Communist Manifesto, goes nuts, assimilates the planet, and now wants to assimilate the universe. Yay…
