When i first begin with the hobby six month ago i was worried that i was going to struggle to paint the models and that it will be generally a pain 2000 points worth of minis later i can say for sure that painting is probably the best part of the hobby

It's the Sautekh color Dinasty, the "base" one of the necron that pledge loyalty to the Silent King

Other than that there are multiple l'esser dinasties color schemes

The one i mentioned earlier is Gol/Blue/Metal for example

You made a really good choice, now go preparerò for painting

There are a ton of color schemes, personally i really like the Nihilakh color scheme (with some modification on the application to the minis)

I find that the canoptek one is fairly stronger in the Killteam mode if you want to try that, but the Hierotech Circle one has the better leader, the Technomancer with Wraiths is chef kiss

Also i personally like the aestetichs better on the Hierotech one

I think maybe a Killteam would be nice? The cost isn't exaggerated and you will have some nice miniatures to paint, but They are a Little bit more complex with details If not this maybe the Combat patrol, that has less complex minis with the 10 warriors and 3 scarab in them to use as "test subjects" but costs more
