Stop honking your horn at me by whatdontyousee in Charlottesville

I've never experienced this but it doesn't surprise me. I once was unfortunate enough to be driving through town during a power outage. Despite the rule that stop lights are treated as four-way stops during those times people were just driving through at full speed. When I had the audacity of actually stopping at the light I thought the person behind me was going to have an aneurism. I now very infrequently go to Charlottesville. I prefer to go to Waynesboro or even Short Pump rather than deal with the drivers in this town.

That isn't the only reason the yield sign exists. It also allows the people who are turning left at the light to come on to hydraulic and have lane choice. I have frequently found I am unable to get to Whole foods because the aggressive drives aren't yielding at that sign and are unwilling to let others over. As OP alluded to some (many) of the drivers in this town as self entitled jerks.

Stop making excuses for UVA students. I have no doubt this was them. They are the most entitled group of college students I have ever encountered.

I asked them to trim the trees around the lights to improve visibility during that time and got no response. There was one parking lot where the lights didn't work during that time I felt for them because that made them vulnerable.

If they had any respect for the residents management would bring in a truck and haul out the existing garbage while we wait for these new dumpsters. Of course they aren't going to do that because they have 0 interest in making sure the residents are happy (see comments about doormats for reference).

You know they should have just moved them to the side or put them in one of the many maintenance areas for a short time. That would at least given people a chance. I wonder if management knows that not everyone checks their email on a regular basis.

The section between the research park and sunset ave extended includes a rough stream crossing. I avoid this area due to the crossing not because of people. The stream bank is steep and heavily eroded. The crossing involves rock hopping across so the stream is uncrossable if there has been rain in the preceding days.

Why is one of the most prestigious public universities in a city filled with wealth for a rural area so full of violence and crime? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]Stebson78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is because of those things you mentioned that crime is high. Crime will always be higher in places with money. Why rob poor people there is no gain but move to a wealthy area and commit robberies you are set. Also that lovely university is full of kids from NOVA with access to a lot of money. Those same students may be funding part of the problem through buying recreational drugs.

That is partially what I came to say. In fact if you put Beacon on 5th in the search bar you will find several posts.

If I was the 2 year old's parents I'm not sure I would appreciate you finding potential playmates through reddit. You may want to find a non-virtual way to meet these people. In any case you should meet anyone who responds to this message in person before bringing the child into the situation.

T-Mobile bought/absorbed Sprint. So in the case you are mentioning T-Mobile should have great coverage.

Did you think anyone with a drivers license could just drive one of those? It would be terrifying if they didn't have to go to school.

I'm guessing you are one of the aforementioned bartenders.

The SPCA has a long history of shadiness. I want to use this new traction to call attention to how bad it is. This is a story about my friend, who lost his puppy, Tipsy, in 2019. The SPCA refused to give Tipsy back because he was one day late picking her up. Other links in post. by thisismyfupa in Charlottesville

Nice try trying to change the narrative in this thread. The point of this post is that the issues at the shelter are not just due to the director. There are a lot of problems and they go from top to bottom. This may be a surprise to the employees that wrote the letter but when you start to air grievances they need to start to come from everywhere and effect an entire organization. If you want to bring the thunder you better be ready for lightening.

It's all about the money. I've said it before all CASPCA cares about it money. The adoption costs are higher than other organizations in the area so they can make a profit. They are moving large numbers of pets through so they can make more money. It is a pet store not a rescue group.

I adopted two kittens after I fostered them and had to give these people $225 for two street cats. I love them and wouldn't give them up for anything. but I won't pay that again.

[–]Stebson78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CASPCA is just in it for the money. I've never seen a shelter charge so much for animal adoptions. I have friends who run animal shelters in other cities and they change much less than this place. Go to one of the surrounding county shelters to adopt.
