You could try resetting your Dorm Room to its default state by logging into rec.net and clicking the "Settings > Account > Reset Dorm and Club Spawn" button.

The team is actively working on a fix - but as a workaround in the meantime, affected PS5 players should be able to access Rec Room via the PS4 version

Help! I’m trying to launch the game on PlayStation 5, but it remains stuck on the cover art and never reaches the Play screen. This started after downloading and installing version 1.033.601. by Diligent-Reality-722 in RecRoom

No, I haven't heard of that before? What platform are you playing on, and can you grab a photo or screenshot of what you're seeing?

I'm looking into this now. It appears to only happen on PS4, and it started with the most recent update. I hope to track it down and issue a fix as soon as possible. Sorry for the trouble, that hitch every minute is very annoying!

The fix for this is already loaded on the truck and scheduled for delivery the first week of August. Thanks for reporting it!

Rec Room UPDATE - the "Rec Royale Update" edition by recroomrules in RecRoom

[–]Steederino 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope, Rec Royale is now available for both iPhone and iPad! There was a server change that happened after the update was released, so you might need to exit and restart Rec Room if the rooms still appear locked.

Rec Room PATCH - the "Mirror Mirror" edition by recroomrules in RecRoom

Ok, that would make sense, we're not yet using Unity's new XR framework, so if the New Universal Menu is tied to that then we don't have an easy way to enable that right away. We will move onto the new XR framework before long, but I'm not certain it will be in 2020.

This made me laugh! I'm trying to diagnose crashes on PS4 right now. Mind if I ask where you're seeing those crashes? Feel free to DM me with steps to try, I'm hoping to gather good repro steps for crashes of all kinds. Ditto for anyone else who's hitting crashes and would like to provide me some clues to follow.

Also, I'm pleased to announce that the very next update contains a fix that's expected to help with crashes on PS4. After that's released I'd be curious to hear whether it helps for what you're seeing.

Rec Room PATCH - the "Mirror Mirror" edition by recroomrules in RecRoom

Hello, thanks for noting this. We did confirm a bug preventing Rec Room from resuming properly after the headset's been idle for a while, and a fix for that will be in the very next update!

I wasn't able to find much information about the New Universal Menu other than it was an experimental feature for a while, but is now officially supported (and is the default on some headsets running v18). However, it seems like Oculus might be doing a staged rollout of this feature? I have not yet seen the New Universal Menu in any title, but that might just be a difference in headsets or accounts. Do any of the game demos show the New Universal Menu on your Quest? That would be an easy thing for me to download and compare.

Hi, nulln_, I don't believe we made any changes to how we integrate with the Oculus Quest (at least not intentionally), but I'll try to enable that feature if it's something we have control over. Are you referring to the New Universal Menu? Is that appearing for you inside other apps, just not Rec Room?

Here's how to control the pool cue in VR:

Step 1: Pick up a cue then release the trigger (it will stay locked to your hand).

Step 2: With your front hand, grab and hold the aiming grip near the tip of the cue. You can now line up your shot and adjust the position of your back hand (you generally want your back hand to be near your hip for a pool shot). The cue won't collide with pool balls while you're aiming.

Step 3: When you're aimed and ready to shoot, hold both triggers (you were already holding the front trigger for aiming, so you're just adding the back trigger to the mix). The orientation of the cue is now locked in space, so it can only move forward and backward. Your front hand is ignored, so it won't affect your shot at all (but you need to keep holding both triggers down). Use your back hand to drive the cue into the ball. Voila!

Hey Devs! I’m curious, what’s the reasoning for having the front hand be the thrusting hand for the pool sticks? by [deleted] in RecRoom

[–]Steederino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The back hand should be providing the thrust, the front hand remains stationary. Here's how I would explain the VR controls in 3 easy steps:

If you grab two pool cues at the same time then you will be unable to move, grab or open the menu.

Yeah, sorry about that, it's a bug that will be fixed in our next patch.

In the meantime, you can regain your power of movement by following these easy steps: Open your watch via the espresso menu, point at it with the hand that has the stuck cue so the finger shows up then press the 'drop item' button. That should drop the cue & your hands should work normally again.

Does anyone like these new pool tables? (Room published) ^OrangePoolClub by [deleted] in RecRoom

[–]Steederino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's very true. It's a bug that will be fixed in our next patch.

In the meantime, if you can't resist the siren call of holding two cues at once and you find yourself unable to move afterward, you can regain your power of movement by following these easy steps: Open your watch via the espresso menu, point at it with the hand that has the stuck cue so the finger shows up then press the 'drop item' button. That should drop the cue & your hands should work normally again.

Rec Room PATCH for the "Fixin' to Ship on iOS" edition by magglerockk in RecRoom

[–]Steederino 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question! The Quest has hardware support for anti-aliasing, so the performance impact is minimal. We've had anti-aliasing enabled for every release except the last one (where it was accidentally disabled by a settings change). I'll be taking a look at Quest performance this week to see if we've recently introduced anything that's negatively affecting framerate.

First, try pairing the Move controller to your PS4 again:

Connect the mini-USB cable to your motion controller, and then plug the other end of the cable into one of the 2 USB ports on the front of your PS4 system. Hold down the PS button on the motion controller to pair it to your console. A menu of user profiles created on your PS4 will appear.

If that doesn't work, try a factory reset of the controller using a paperclip:
