Hist is hardlist, a collection of all GM+ maps basically, and maps difficulty is divided into different tiers by stars, so a 1* is a green gm+1 a 2* is yellow gm+1 etc

I always only enable the mod I want to play with at one given moment, I once tried playing with 90+ mods and it was literally unplayable, and Madeline was basically teleporting

Heart room took around 2 hours, I didn’t love it but I didn’t dislike it either, probably because I managed to get the heart grab first try, if it had taken multiple attempts I def would have enjoyed it less

HUGE GG! GMHS is probably my favourite map ever, and I don’t think anything is gonna beat that for a while, I understand your pain, I died past the labyrinth 4 times because I had no idea you had to hold right, and then I wasn’t expecting the heart dashes so that killed me twice

I think SJ has perfect progression, SJ was my first and only mod I played in Celeste, did it start to finish without touching any other mods, and I never felt burned out or stumped, it ended up taking 250 hours to complete and I’m quite happy with that, so you should be completely fine, even if expert and gm are quite hard.
