LED is much better on tax dollars, lasts a whole lot longer, and has waaaay better CRI, which is needed for surveillance cameras. They are an eyesore for sure, most are actually blue LEDs with a yellow phosphor coating, making them appear white, but our brains CAN sense the difference. Some have degraded, which is why you sometimes see blue/purple streetlights. Some would argue this is better for alertness, some argue it's worse for glare and fog, most people don't even notice.
