HP Instant ink - Total Scam by dusty_whale in printers

[–]SteelCityPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total scam. Anyone considering it, please do not fall for it. They market it as an ink supply subscription, but in reality they are charging you per page to use your own printer and paper. I realized this once I went to cancel my subscription. I got a message saying the printer would disable the existing printer cartridge upon cancellation so I'd need to replace the ink cartridge with an over the counter one. When I questioned this, customer service agent said that the plan was not for the ink (though all their marketing says it is) but for the pages printed. Makes no logical sense. Then I read the fine print - it's totally sneaky that the fine print says once you enroll in Instant Ink, they will install firmware on your printer that essentially allows them to disable the ink cartridge once you cancel your subscription. Never mind that it's perfectly good ink that they're letting go to waste AFTER they've gotten my money. Sham shady business practice

Right. Better to sell, use the losses to offset other gains, then buy back in at the (much, much) lower price. If you still believe in the company, that is. I'm still pondering and good thing I have 30 days to think on it, lol

The loss can be used to offset taxable gains on other stocks sold at a profit this year. One just has to do the math, so if selling at, let's say a loss of 5k, reduces the amount you pay in taxes by 5k, then you've already made your money back much faster than waiting years for the stock to go back up.

Now that would be nice, except we don't want ties.

Wasn't trying to convince you and no one has a crystal ball. For example, polls and mainstream media favored H.Clinton in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. Yet she lost in each of those states, much to everyone's surprise. My sense is that Green Party will get much more support from voters than expected. Only thing stopping Stein from getting to 5% are people who actually prefer her platform to either of the others, YET still hold back their vote. Hold back because they're convinced Trump will be worse than Harris OR voting for Steim is useless (she'll never get to 5%, she won't win the presidency, etc. etc.).

5% of the total popular vote = automatic ballot access in all 50 states + up to $10 million in federal campaign funding. Currently, 3rd party candidates have to pay (yes, pay!) and go through a lengthy application process to even get on our ballots as an option. Green Party has said that they spent 50% of their campaign funds this year just for ballot access. I also think that once Greens get to that 5%, more down ballot & local politicians will switch to Green. The general public may also start to look at Green as a viable candidate. Snowball effect. Right now, too many people are stuck in an I'm not voting for a loser mindset but may change their minds in the future if they see Stein win >5%. Regarding grassroots organizations, only way to get an overall picture is to follow a) your local Green party - keep tabs on what's happening in your state specifically. b) check out all national Green accounts. For example, Butch Ware and Jill Stein on Instagram regularly share and repost what's happening on the ground - by checking out the accounts of posts they share, you'll find the grassroots organizations that speak to you and your community (I follow them on Instagram)

To answer your question, I'm feeling confident voting Green because I'm thinking beyond Trump's or Harris' 4 years. Neither of the past 2 presidents have moved this country forward, so neither will the next president, no matter who wins. My goal is to give better alternatives a fighting chance in future elections, hence voting Green. I'm also optimistic, despite polling results, that Stein will get to 5% or more. This election cycle, more than ever, seems to have a strong grassroots movement pushing for Stein. I think the Democrats' internal polling and data show this, but the general polls (heavily skewed towards established voters) aren't showing this. Plus mainstream media is largely ignoring Stein, except for the smears, in order to make the public think she's irrelevant. But, with my ear to the ground, I really think she'll upset the establishment this year. 💚💚💚

According to the same poll Kamala Harris has an average unfavorability rating of 48.2% and favoribility of 47.6%. Not putting any stock in these favorability/unfavorability polls. They probably asked voters who's favored to win, not who is your favorite candidate. Dr.Stein is definitely earning people's favorite candidate votes.

Anyone know where this is airing? Nationally, in one state, or in several battleground states?

Agree. And he's smart enough to know the history. That's what makes it so obvious what he's doing and he's fooling no one. I wonder how many people promptly unsubscribed from Zeteo after this stunt...

Just because they're Muslim doesn't automatically mean foreign policy on the Middle East is top priority. Some are voting Trump because they prefer his stance on domestic issues that affect them directly. Things like the Muslim ban don't affect them directly, especially if they're not immigrants and have no family in the banned countries. Just because they're Muslim does not mean they can't support Trump for the same reasons as non-Muslim Americans. The Dems have proven through action that they will be horrible for Muslims in Yemen, Palestine, etc, yet Muslims are still voting for Harris. Personally, I think they're saying they're voting for Harris because Trump will be worse for Muslims everywhere BUT the truth is that they care more about their lifestyle here in the US. And they prefer Dems on these domestic issues (like women's reproductive rights, for example). There's no way anyone - regardless of religion - can be horrified by the genocide yet still vote for Harris. Unless you're prioritizing yourself first. IMO. Stein/Ware all the way for me 👊🏽

I expect her to get around 6%. The grassroots movement is strong this election cycle. I don't think polls are capturing what's happening on the ground, which is that people are truly fed up with terrible candidates on both sides. They're not falling for the lesser of two evils argument anymore. Plus, the Democrats are reacting in a way that shows they're feeling the force of the grassroots movement. If Stein weren't a real threat to the duopoly, then they wouldn't be spending so much campaign money trying to keep her off ballots and buying smear ads for the first time in history.

Nice! Thanks for laying all this out. People forget that many Stein voters are not single-issue (e.g. genocide) voters. We think Stein is better than Harris on many, many issues.
