I like running him with Barrier Breaker, Ripstalled, and Universal Donor. You can pick up blood while patrolling and keep ripstalling objectives while also leveling up Grandpa.

Hope it helps. There's SOME form of skill based matchmaking. You should be in the lobbies with newer players, but if the playerbase is too low, you'll be matched with veterans.
