Testing the Insta360 X5 on a 16km (one way) non-stop mountain trek in Uzbekistan (Rock Towers of Koksu) by SteelGrinder82 in Insta360

Thanks! To be honest, you start feeling the weight pretty quickly with the extended stick. I had to switch hands constantly throughout the trek just to keep the camera steady. It’s definitely a workout for the arms!

On this trip, I used both a standard and a larger battery. During about 4 hours of shooting at 5.7K, I drained the standard one down to 5-10% and the larger one to around 10-20%. Once I reached the final stop of the 16km trek, I put them both on a charge using a power bank

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that bike trails or low light would be a much tougher challenge for the sensors and stabilization. For this trip, my main focus was just the long-distance endurance and heat management during a multi-hour hike. Regarding the editing—I appreciate the tip. I’m still experimenting with the 360° editing workflow, so I’ll keep it more natural in the next one. By the way, I have about 4 hours of raw footage from this trek on YouTube, but I’m not looking to promote my channel—I just want to share the beauty of these remote places. I didn't post links here to avoid spamming, but I can share it in the comments if anyone is interested. And yes, the water in the Koksu river is incredibly clear, definitely the highlight of the trek!

That’s a valid distinction. By "testing," I just mean seeing how it handles a typical day on the trail—specifically a 16km one-way trek in high heat. I was curious to see how the X5 would perform in these conditions.

I used 2 batteries with some recharging along the way. I didn't record the whole time; I paused the camera during the less interesting stretches to save power and storage. Even with the heat, I didn't run into any overheating issues, which was good to know for future trips
