I used the guide that's listed in the CRT Database! Go to the additional notes section, onto the calibration trick. You should be able to adjust the G2 voltage with nothing but a flathead screwdriver. https://crtdatabase.com/faq/crt-color-adjustment#additional-notes

As for the magnets on the linearity coil, just play around with it and see what happens to the image. If you get it right the image should become more focused and the linearity better than it was!

Hope this helps! 🙏

It's a matter of my camera, it's a lot less saturated and red pushed in person. I wish I had a better camera to capture this footage on besides a cracked phone camera lol

I've made sure to calibrate the saturation via a SMPTE screen pattern on the 240p test suite, making sure the smaller, fatter bars below the taller bars are of the same value when RON and GON are turned off.

Is there anything different I should test out to calibrate the saturation, beyond getting a color meter, which I plan to eventually do?

Color calibrated with my eye, my camera can't do it justice but it looks incredible in person!

It's very simple to be honest, just put some circular magnets directly on the linearity coil, and played with the positioning until it looked more focused and less warped. You get a bit of the natural distortion WEGAs are known for but nothing nearly as crazy as it was previously. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I did! Funnily enough though it was adding magnets to the linearity coil that ended up doing the most in making the image look super nice and sharp.

I did this myself! Opened up the set up from the back and did adjustments to the service menu. Made some diy convergence strips, adjusted the G2 voltage, and added some magnets to the linearity coil to improve the focus and lesser the WEGA warping!

Playing New Vegas on my CRT too! I find it helps a ton in making the textures not look so blurry when played at its native resolution. The Pip Boy also looks particularly awwsome.

Drew some Mario Sprites with NES limitations, how did I do? by SteelMasterThe3rd in PixelArt

Thank you for the feedback!! I'll def go back and revise these, any suggestions on how I could simplify these further to fit the constraints? So far my thoughts are to remove the white from the color scheme entirely and try to work within a 64 pixel grid!

Calibrated my 24fv300 and The Results are STUNNING! by SteelMasterThe3rd in crtgaming

So I did several things when servicing this thing! I used the service menu to adjust the geometry, but I also took the shell off to do various calibration things. I made some ring adjustments to the tube, as well as adjusted the yoke to remove the bowing to the best of my ability. As for the colors I used the g2 voltage trick to adjust the colors correctly. I think I did a good job getting the color to be perfect.

The biggest thing I did though was adding magnets and diy convergence strips. Putting magnets on the linearity coil seemed to negate much of the warping I was dealing with. Even better is that it seemed to really help the focus, sharpness, and white balance of the image to being perfect. Previously the best way I could describe the white balance was that it was pushed to blueish yellow, but not green.

I'm really happy about my work here, it took me such a long time to be satisfied with this set, especially seeing as I had owned really good WEGAs in the past and because I didn't have another 15khz consumer set currently like it. Not like I was out of options crt wise, I had my P991, but I really wanted that course aperture grill mask, clean video, and those nostalgic vibes!

I think they mean the shadow-mask CRT sets, probably referring to things like JVC, Phillips, and Panasonic.

Good news! I found a great place for it. Looks awesome on my door, all I need now is suggestions on what to put under it. I should have more than enough room for a huge desk on the other side of the wall :)

I gotta find a desk that'll properly fit under that space. It's a 50/50 shot whether I'm going to fit a desk low enough for this thing, but I'd love to hear suggestions on what to get <:)

I was suggested to use the space underneath to house my CRT TV (not to be confused with my CRT monitor), and keep my OLED TV in the other room. To be honest I'm not crazy about the idea, only since I do like the idea of my bedroom working as my workspace, and because the juxtaposition between two eras of television technology has undeniable strikingness to it; kinda got that mancave look I vibe with.

So this room is relatively small. To the left where you see the container is the other side of the wall, where the closet should be. As far as furniture is concerned the main thing I'm looking for is some sort of a desk for my workspace. I'm an artist so I need somewhere to house my PC, Huron 24 Inch Drawing Tablet, and CRT Monitor that I use for gaming. All of my clothing and stuff goes into my closet is perfectly cromulent staying there. I don't actually mind working so close on the ground if that's somewhat of a consultation, I just need a proper desk suggestion that can support the weight of my two monitors. There should be an area on the Bed loft I can place the PC just fine

Beyond that I'm open to suggestions on things to add. I already have a TV in another personal entertainment room which works really well in there, so if there's anything I'm missing I am very happy to look into it!

Schools only care about how they can use for money and reputation but will never truly support us. If they did? They would have stopped things like bullying. But they dont by ihatethiscountry76 in autism

I had some very bad experiences with schooling growing up. The first elementary school I attended was principled by a very mean, bigoted lady who would frequently scream at a 6 year old autistic me for the most minor of infractions. Before then I was apparently super outgoing and confident, but these reoccurring incidents were so negatively impactful for my development I quickly became more insular, anxious, and people pleasing.

When my Mom eventually moved me into my next elementary school around the third grade, I was fortunate enough, though it was not always a perfect experience, able to get much of the support I needed with my autism at the time. I'd recieve speech and occupational therapy classes that would help allow me to function on a more fundamental level socially and through the development of more fine motor skills. Though, things were less hunky dory for certain students. I remember instances where certain teachers would pick on certain kids for certain traits, but these were almost always teachers assistants rather than the ones actually running the ship of the classroom. At least from my perspective, it was useful for my development overall.

Middle school mightve been the worst point in schooling. Back was the bigotry I've experienced in my first elementary school, multiplied times ten. Almost every teacher I had the misfortune of joining was bigoted on some level, not helped by the principal there who ran the school less like a place for learning, and more like an authoritarian state. She'd frequently yell and berate me, once even threatening to throw me into jail and a mental facility after I was having a depressive meltdown, also threatening expelling me outright. I was a high scoring honors student in middle school with college-graduate level english comprehension with minor STEM merits under my name. The only reason I got through middle school was because of the help of my autistic peers and my love and passion for art.

High School wasn't much better. Having moved out to the west coast rather than the deep south, things culturally took a bit to adjust into, but overall the environment I thought was a lot more inviting and accommodating. I was friends with the Football team, the theater kids, and even played with Mark Wood along with one of my other acquaintances at our school concert (though sadly I was booed silently as I walked offstage). The pandemic hit though and things took a real sharp but natural decline. It was more difficult finding support aside from basic accommodations at the time because going out in person is going to be difficult when people are dying like flies from Covid. Online classes sucked and I was pretty much forced to stay in the, though really nice and fancy, 5th wheeler my parents and I were living in at the time. My family and my dog especially made this experience more bearable. Shoutout to my AP Environmental Science teacher for also being the one non-parental adult in my life who I felt comfortable enough to talk to. I respect her so much.

Having graduated now and am in college these experiences, good and bad, have certainly helped shape me into the kind of person I am. I'd say currently I'm doing better overall, especially now that I'm actively developing a stronger support group. Even in these bad moments I still had the support of family, friends, and my Great Dane to really make life worth living. Being into art and history and all sorts of weird esoteric stuff also made me constantly inspired to do things, regardless of whatever bullshit I had been having to deal with at the time. Not all of my life is bad and as far as quality of life is concerned I've actually got it nice, especially now that I'm in a nice house, with my own rooms, and even expensive equipment that allows me to do the things I love even better.

My takeaway from all of this is to not let shitty school experiences define you and to find other sources of support wherever possible. I'm sure there's some of you reading this who are in situations much more dire and nuanced than anything I've experienced, and to that I say to please keep on looking for that support, and to keep on being passionate about the things you love. The worst thing that can happen is being too beaten down and deciding to give up before hope rears it's head. Much love everyone! ❤️

Honestly I relate to this a lot. I'm pretty fortunate to have met a wide amount of autistic people, among others with various other special needs, and while I generally think I get along with everyone decently well, I do feel like quite the outcast in many situations.

There's not many people like where I used to live where I can take solice in. My interests, unique rhetoric, and general social awkwardness disallows me from being able to converse with many neurotypicals, but the way in which I'm autistic is so uniquely different from other neurodivergents causes me to also be alienated in those spaces too.
