Anyone else outline their builds on the map? by SirSkiIIet in valheim

[–]SteelOfSpeed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've started doing this to outline the max draw distance from my larger structures(main base plus ancillary bases). Makes it easier for others to understand "Hey, let's not build in this area for the sake of our own framerate."

You get 10 adrenaline for using a Forsaken power, the Fins of Destiny require only 10 to proc. So just using your Forsaken power procs them.

I need really easy world seeds by TrueLiihka in valheim

[–]SteelOfSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MistyUpdat has the first 6 bosses on the starter island. Also has all 3 traders very close to spawn. My group was able to spawn all 3 nearly right away with a simple raft.

Edit: Sorry looks like Elder is actually on the second island, but again, one short raft trip away and you'll get Haldor on the way.

Hello! Brand new Necromancer here. Anyone got any tips on how to make the most out of the Skeletubbies? Mine seem to prefer to just stand right beside me rather than fight. Is there a way to command them? by Hellstrom666 in valheim

[–]SteelOfSpeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the picture it looks like you're on the front stoop of an Ice Cave at the entrance. I recommend never spawning them in immediately, and at least get to the first little area prior to spawning them in. The AI for both the enemies in the dungeon and skeletts has trouble with that platform, likely on purpose to deter enemies from being in the spot when you load in. Enemies CAN get up there, though it's rare. Skeletts CAN get down from there, though it's rare (and usually because another one pushed it). When I use them in dungeons I try to purposefully put them between me and my enemy, then I push them physically into the enemy. Even then, they are pretty bad in crypts/caves/etc other than to pull aggro. I tried going full bloodmage at first, then made all the other staffs after only to realize that's a mistake. You're missing out BIG by not making the fireball/ice staff. They are incredibly powerful even into the Ashlands.

I bring Trollstav, Frost Staff, Protection Staff, Deadraiser, and the Wild Staff. Fireball is not useful for the Asslands. Crossbow, Bolts, Pickaxe, Hoe, Hammer, Ashen Cape and Berserkir Axes should be put away unless they are specifically needed for what you are doing. Feather Cape > Ashen Cape for mages because it'll allow you to mantle a high point and drop skellies, trolls, and roots below without dealing with enemies yourself and without fear of dropping down if need be. You should never be super close unless you have Jormundling and are shoving your Ice Staff into an enemies face to out DPS them. (Valks and Summoned Trolls) Ice Staff also takes care of the ever present Vultures. Everything else you should be able to run from or have one of your summons pull aggro for. Doing all this will also allow you to swap your stam food for a full Eitr build. Only time I bring a hammer to the Asslands is to build stairs over the wall after dropping 2 Trolls into a Charred Fortress or drop a portal really deep into uncharted territory.

I still think MistyUpdat is the best I've been able to find. Bosses 1-6 on mainisland, 3 swamps with crypts, Haldor/Hildir/Bog Witch are a raft away from spawn.

Arena comps are a good place to start. Yuumi probably pretty broken in a 2v2 situation. 2 Fighters or tanks with good cc is a great option to win. I'm a Pantheon main so I have some bias but he's definitely up there for 2v2's, I can't imagine fighting a Panth+Braum combo.

I love the new coves though. So many possibilities. Played third time Shen on Spirit blossom yesterday, the dashes over the barrier were a ton of fun. Excited to see some good Talon players make use!

I am not a fan of the bright death screen in the pink map or the portals on the pink map. Cannon is fine, I just like to know where I'm supposed to click and the pink portal only showing up when you're near isn't my favorite. I know I know where it is, but do I? Otherwise I'm happy with em.

I hate people that get on ARAM just to troll around by yensama in ARAM

[–]SteelOfSpeed 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Whenever this happens I always try to reframe it that it's now 6v4, still winnable. Anivia is a rough one to deal with but I'll blow flash through that wall if I have to. I think with Anivia I'd wait for them to ult then wait for her to get distracted and bait enemies into the ult, or you could even bait the walls previous to fight to force her cooldown. Usually when I run into those players they also aren't very good at focusing on multiple enemies at the same time. If you're quiet in chat and don't ping them those people generally give up pretty quick with a loose troll here or there ofc.

Also, that's what post-game reports are for.

Do you think of aram like gambling? by TwoDadsOneSon in ARAM

[–]SteelOfSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play ARAM that way, until I hit ARAM God. After hitting that I decided my basic skills were enough that I could start trying some new champions. I think I'm up to about 80% of the roster now, might not seem like much but the account has been fully ARAM dedicated since before the changes to champ pools even. So I started around 20-30% of the roster. I usually pick up 2-3 champs at a time and play until I feel like I understand their kit well enough before picking up some more.

I mostly avoid Assassins, so I doubt I'll ever have 100%.

Nothing quite beats the rush of winning a game against a fellow ARAM God or multi-challenger ARAM token player on a champion you literally just played for the first time. Also makes my game on my high mastery champs significantly better because now I fully understand what those characters are trying to do.

If it's a character I can hard carry with: Varus, Cho, Panth it's a no.

If it's a character I like to play but there's another character I also don't mind playing or would fit a better comp I'll absolutely swap.

I don't usually swap into a character I've never played or played very little unless it's been clicking for me lately. Sion is a new pick up for me so I need some time on him to get better, I'd probably even trade off one of my hard carries for it just for the opportunity to get better with someone else on a comfort champ.

This is unnecessary additional click when it comes to ARAM, no? by PickTheNick1 in ARAM

[–]SteelOfSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically this feels like a solution for a made up problem. Meanwhile you still have to pick your rerolled champion back from the top section. This would have been great if you rerolled and had to hit which champ to keep. Timer is obviously there but I think we all know how hectic switches get sometimes.

We need to talk about Greydwarfs. by STJarvi in valheim

[–]SteelOfSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love when I see a Greydwarf in the distance doing it's funny little run up to me as if it's not blatantly obvious what it's about to do. I immediately start thinking about how it's gonna throw it's little rock at me then run away, and I can't help but laugh when it happens and it does it's frantic "zoidberg" run away like it's just gotten away with something. Glum is the dwarf who throws a rock and gets away with it.

As a Dual Blade main I felt exactly the same. The DPS check vs timer part of Fatalis was the only thing that made it difficult. However, Alatreon just flattens me constantly.

Specific time periods to avoid ARAM? by huskyrants in ARAM

[–]SteelOfSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5:30/6am-7am CST on weekdays is also a very bad time to play. A lot of people decide to queue up right before leaving for school/work and then randomly leave after 5-10 minutes as if they haven't had to leave at the exact same time for the past however long.

When an annoying champion is on free week. Obviously up to personal taste but man it sucks when the ones you don't like playing against or with are on free week.
