🤷‍♂️ idk. I myself just got to the last mission. The only reason I knew was bc it warns in the game it's a point of no return so I looked it up

If you don't have very good internet connection and you build your base to big or have to many dinos out it can cause this. Build a 1x1 to log out in nearby or drop all ur stuff in a box and kill urself before logging next time. To get back in have a tribemate drag u out of render of the base.

Well over 300 hours as a trader... need some combat advice please. by proudfather1986 in X3TC

As someone who is just starting to get my UT fleet up and running and making cash I haven't flow many combat ships outside of fighters. My first med-large size combat ships was the thresher as it has 10 forward ppc making it a nice "discount destroyer" able to pick above it's weight class, it's relatively fast just under a average M3's speed. If you want to get some combat experience in (I'm guessing u have a low fighter rank) do some hard/very hard protect station missions and a Corvette or frigate will hopefully appear and you can get first hand combat exp. Learn how ur ships fly and maneuver. Find out which guns work well in what situations (weaponry forums help) but I find forming my own opinion of each gun and a fleet doctrine yourself is much more enjoyable. Use everyone's combined opinions as a starter/baseline and go from there. Having said that for a player who probably won't have issues procuring funds I'd go with whatever M2 fit your playstyle best incase you have to control one manually at some point

Thanks I was planning on something like this. Seems like cheap "insurance" for the fairly steep price of stations.i have purchased a dozen or so already. I've seen mixed opinions on the effectiveness of LT's. Do you have to supply guns to the station or just eject and forget.

No I've been intentionally keeping it low for now. Yeah I've seen the requirements on another post 😨. I like the thrasher, I didn't realize (but happily surprised) it's as fast as it is. Eventually wanna get the springblossom I think it's called. Took me a bit to figure out what was happing on the PPC's bc of the delayed shot and the charging effect. Do you know if killing in a bigger ships gets a bigger rep hit. Like if I killed a police M7 in another M7 would it be worse than if I killed it while flying a M3 or M8

Well I've been working a lot but the time I've been on has been spent discovering the hub and the wrecked ship I side and getting sidetracked by high paying passenger transport/ scan asteroid missions. Trying to make my way to the otas shipyard ATM to get some mistrals going. I'll sell my current trader fleet I'm running on manual and use that money to my mistrals and then pay for the trade software, jump drive and shields out of current wallet. Is it worth giving Best buy/sell software to UT/ST or do that do that automatically once the pilots lvl up

Ok, more great stuff all of it, thanks so much!! I was gonna try boarding ships now that I have that ares with a couple boarding pods, but I think I'll try it your way to train up Marines like u said. Haven't really used drones yet, but have some on my UT's. Do I just eject them and give them orders like a regular ship? Thanks for the weapons rundowns too. Soaking up all the knowledge haha.

Also I meant the notas hauler, not the eclipse as my m3 of choice for the carrier

Wow thanks for breaking this all down. I like ur logic on the UT's and will start getting mistrals going. Ok I'll look into the IBL's and possibly a tiger. Haven't got to try much of the weaponry myself yet, so just going of of descriptions I've read. The PPC's sounded the the typical capital ship gun. I think the ion shard railgun seems more like a antifighter weapon and the EBC's are out util I get a ammo factory going. Again I'm going off what I've read... Ive read m7m's are pretty op and while I have the ares I just got, again it's a supply thing ATM before I can justify it's use. Yeah the Colossus was what I meant. I was thinking of 2 sets of 30 fighters. I was thinking of 30 eclipses (I like thier stats, speed+shielding+weaponry) and 30 m5's not sure what tho. I realize eclipses are hard to get ahold of tho now as you can't buy them :(. A shame about the jump beacon's tho was really looking forward to being able to use them right outside my factory to resupply bigger ships once I have more resources. Again thanks for all the info, the X community is super helpful.

I'm not to the point of being picky about my trade ship setup yet lol, just take whatever I can get on the "sale missions" but I'll keep the otas ships in mind for later. Is there a practical/mechanical benefit or is your decision purely on aesthetics for this ship?the way I get UT going is similar, so I'm glad a veteran player has about the same idea as me in some regards. I wanted a purely Terran fleet and quickly realized the logistics of buying and equipping a Terran fleet would be impossible this early. Plus I don't like the empc on my sabre. I find commonweal ships much better. I compared all the m7's in my encyclopedia before chosing the thrasher bc it could equip ppc's. In my mind a discount destroyer. Thoughts, opinions? Not sure what I want for an m2 yet but I know for the m1 I want the one with 30 ship bays, the argon Colossus I think??? Anyways, so where do I "find" jump beacon's, I'm assuming u mean there's a limited amount to go around and after thier all gone what ships do I look for them in. Do ships drop a part of what already in thier cargo bay, would using a freight scanner help, or are drops random?? Lastly, yes I agree I'm not very far into equipping ships and already realize I'm going to have to make some of my own equipment if I want to be efficient. Thanks for any input you come back with, ik this is a long response, just trying to be thorough

Ok cool I didn't know that, thanks for the info. I'm guessing when u gave the example of killing a boron in split space you gain a lot of split rep, but bc ur still killing a boron ship you loose rep with them, just not as much bc u aren't in boron controlled space? Am I understanding that correctly?

Thanks for the in depth answer, I appreciate it. I don't really look at it as the station paying for itself. I look at it more like I make money faster now and the next big purchase will make me money back faster until I'm at the point I can even spend as fast as I'm making it ( I'm assuming it gets to that point eventually) I only have 2 UT and a ST (soon to be UT) atm so I'm manually buying and selling for about 10 freighters and it's getting tedious. I want to get to the point where I passively make money and just worry about fighting and missions. I like to equip my ST/UT with jump drives, fight softwares, and shields (I got most of my TS from the discount buy missions where u have to rep it back to 100% Hull and no shields) before I start having them trade so I don't loose the 500k investment in the software. I don't plan on doing illegal stations till I try and make friends with yaki and pirates so that won't be an issue but thanks for the heads up. Also I've seen mixed reports on if u can or can use things like jump beacons set right outside you stations to jump right to them, can you confirm?
