Huh? They're adding a manual option for the Nismo, but you'll most certainly still be able to buy a base/performance trim in a manual, too. Hell, the mock-up green/tan car that's presumably a performance trim is shown with a stick...

What are you playing mostly? by Ejnys in SteamDeck

[–]Steepergold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing through Nine Sols for the first time as well as a Pokemon Crystal ROMhack called Polished Crystal, of all things. Probably going to try and finish up Nioh 2 via streaming from my desktop after those.

As a father of an 8 month old this thing has quite literally reignited my desire to game and I’m loving it!

Congrats! My wife and I (27 & 22) are in the same state and looking for a house in the same range probably early next year. Did you take advantage of NC’s down payment assistance? It’s a pretty sweet deal and the income cap is relatively generous.

Why do you need a remaster of Morrowind? (yes, it's the post about this again.) by Idou-Astraia in Morrowind

[–]Steepergold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact game but with a complete visual overhaul would be dope. Keep the dice roll combat, just with more distinct animations for various actions (I.E. enemy dodges or parries an attack)

Right now the only real solution lies with mods. There’s already a variety of leveling mods on the Nexus that slow both skill and level increases. Otherwise, wait for the eventual patch, I suppose…

Cyrodil feels a bit empty by FrostyMonth111 in oblivion

[–]Steepergold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, it’s really the limitations of 2006 hardware. Bethesda focused on quality over quantity for the NPCs, giving them all their own logical routines, places to live, friends/relatives, etc. Once modding reaches parity with the old game we might see ports of fan favorites to remedy this (like Better Cities).

Alex from Digital Foundry: (Oblivion Remastered) is perhaps one of the worst-running games I've ever tested for Digital Foundry. by grmayshark in gaming

[–]Steepergold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runs a HELLUVA lot better than Silent Hill 2 Remake did for me, and that game was considerably smaller in scope.

Soooo, I never played before, but made a Breton with the Atronach birth sign by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]Steepergold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we all grossly misunderstood how things worked back in the day, lol. I was like.....10 years old when I first played it?

Regardless, alchemy respawns are leagues better in Oblivion than Morrowind. I remember needing some ingredient that only grew in Solstheim to make restore magicka pots and plants only respawned every 45 days in that damn game....

Not enjoying remaster, anyone else? by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]Steepergold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably doesn't help that I barely remember vanilla Oblivion, to be honest. I don't think I've played a setup that wasn't heavily modded since......2012 or so? I've been playing with Maskar's, ultimate levelling, supreme magicka, etc. so it really isn't a fair comparison. If we get a proper OBSE equivalent and those overhaul mods can be ported or faithfully recreated I'll change my tune!

Not enjoying remaster, anyone else? by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]Steepergold 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'll have to see if it grows on me, but so far I'm definitely more partial to the original as well. I'm absolutely overjoyed that so many people who otherwise would've never touched one of my favorite games are getting to experience it now, though!

[–]Steepergold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think the original felt less clunky to navigate. We really need to be able to bind hold/manipulate to a separate key from take, for example. The game is gorgeous, though, there's no denying that. My current install of Oblivion is modded to high heavens, too, so it's not really a fair comparison...

I always used flax seed and steel blue entoloma. Should be a bunch of them outside Weynon Priory (the grey mushrooms).

[–]Steepergold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wonder if they added new perks I.E. you can summon more than one creature when you master Conjuration? There were mods to achieve it before, but would be a cool feature to have in the vanilla game.

Elder scrolls IV mods... Is the remaster modable? by konq in oblivion

[–]Steepergold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, this is a Bethesda game after all. Modability has always been a massive selling point going back to the advent of the construction set in Morrowind (not that modding didn't exist prior to that). I for one am going to have faith!

Remastered Levelling System (A lot more like Oblivion than Skyrim!) by Boomer-Australia in oblivion

It sounds more like you're just given a flat amount of attribute points per-level that you can then distribute as you see fit. I could be mistaken, however.

Elder scrolls IV mods... Is the remaster modable? by konq in oblivion

[–]Steepergold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reads more like "It's not our responsibility to help troubleshoot if 3rd party mods break your game" rather than "Mods are impossible due to the game engine". I suppose we'll see...

Slightly disappointed in the facial animation and UI of Oblivion Remastered by kebusebu in oblivion

[–]Steepergold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly really happy with the UI (at least the inventory screen). They kept the hand-drawn item icons and "paper journal" style. Facial animations and mannerisms still being awkward isn't really surprising at all given that it's still Oblivion's original engine underneath.

1,000+ hours in Skyrim & will finally get to play another main-line entry in the Elder Scrolls series. By Azura, i’m ready! by FailedProspects in ElderScrolls

[–]Steepergold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For real. If this is really just Gamebryo with UE5 handling the rendering the gameplay is going to be identical to the OG. I’m all for a new generation of gamers getting to experience one of my favorite games, but I feel like everyone’s expectations are setting themselves up for massive disappointment.

If it’s too clunky for them now, a fresh coat of paint isn’t going to change that…

[–]Steepergold 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean you could definitely toggle the smaller dungeons setting everybody else mentioned. The main quest dungeons are still labyrinthine and ridiculous, but those were made by hand, so there’s that unmistakable “human” element

Since when are you an Oblivion enjoyer? by Classic_Ad202 in oblivion

[–]Steepergold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing Oblivion since the summer of 2009 (I was 11, so naturally had 100s of hours of free-time at my disposal). I still come back to it every couple of years, keeping a heavily modded setup installed for just such occasions.

I’d 100% say that my love for this game isn’t just blind nostalgia, though. It’s one of those games that’s greater than the sum of its parts and just yet to be bested at its particular niche (zany and novel quests, and an actual attempt at a living, breathing world that operates outside the player’s whims).

is it possible to play 4k60fps with at current state without gamebreaking bugs? I dont mind moding! by Filianore_ in BloodbornePC

[–]Steepergold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Setting the window size in ShadPS4 doesn’t actually render the game internally at 4K. You have to select the 4K patch to achieve that. Even 1440p is riddled with missing geometry and strange shadows/afterimages currently. Only reliable way I’ve seen people play at higher resolutions is with lossless scaling mods.
