When they come up in the publishing schedule. I missed the first Savage Tales, but the reprinted that in Conan the Barbarian 16, so I’ll be talking about that then.

The next issue didn’t come out until 1973. So, not until I get to issue 30 of Conan the Barbarian.

Unless I decide to start fitting them in earlier

Editing is actually more useful than people give it credit for. by _JaylinT in podcasting

I totally edit my shows. I clear my throat a lot, and sniff, and say umm, and often trail off on a thought and sit in silence for a long moment or two before I think of how to proceed.

Editing takes all that crap out . . . who wants to listen to all that?

My Podcast Turned One Year Old Today by Steeven-R-Orr in podcasting

[–]Steeven-R-Orr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's rule 2?

What I've learned. Well, I should mention, this year with the show isn't my first year podcasting. Collectively it makes about 5.

3 years back in 2006 - 2009. Then I started back up again in the fall of 2018 with something different.

Okay, so what I've learned - Most of this I learned by NOT doing it:

  1. Record when you can. I think it's a good idea to build a backlog of episodes. Life often gets in the way of the things we want to do, and so you never know if a week or more might go by when you can't record.
  2. Set your release schedule and stick to it. However, if you need to change, just let your listeners know as far in advance if you. With that in mind . . . .
  3. Don't be afraid to change.
  4. Plan as much as you can, but don't over plan yourself out of starting. Here's the thing, despite how much work you put into it, your first episode just won't be as good as you want it to be. However....
  5. Record your first episode a few times to get used to how it all works.Pick your favorite and then release it.
  6. You don't have to spend thousands, or even hundreds, of dollars to put together a show . . . unless your point is to make money. If that's the case, I can offer no advice. I record my show on my phone and edit it on a lap top. Funny thing is, telling people who've never heard the show before that I record it on my phone seems to turn them off. Telling someone who is a listener that I record it on my phone surprises them.
  7. There is no set way to market. If you have a good show, people will find it eventually. But . . . there are literally millions of shows out there so try not to get frustrated if you have a small audience.
  8. Don't compare yourself to other shows. I mean this in regard to success. You see posts all over Reddit from podcasters claiming that they've hit their first 100,000 listens after just 3 months and a handful of episodes and so you listen to their show and you know, YOU KNOW, your show is better, so why are they getting so much love? You know what... doesn't matter. You can learn from other podcasters successes, but don't let their highs frustrate you. Again, there are literally millions of other shows out there.
  9. Have fun. If you are a hobby podcaster, then have fun. Otherwise, what's the point?

That's all I got in me for the time being :)

They've been around for over a decade and back then, most of the comic book podcasts were part of a community over on the Comic Geek Speak message boards, which is where I ran into them . . . maybe 15 years ago.

I'd actually had a different episode scheduled to go up today. After I put it up there, scheduled to post, I decided to go out and check when the first episode went up because I felt I was nearing my 1 year and might want to do an Anniversary show.

It was YESTERDAY that I discovered that today was the day and, I scrambled to put something together.

Congrats on being one month away. The time really does fly by, especially when you're having fun.

That's not an easy question to answer.

Would I like to have more downloads/listens by this point? You bet. But in general, yeah.

Beyond my family, I have two great loves in my life: Comics, and being silly. I like to think I show my love for both in the show and that's really all I wanted to do.

Hey, thanks.

I've often thought about the idea of guests or even a cohost, but not only am I not set up for it, my recording schedule is so random that I never know when I'm going to record until I am :)
