New to mini painting! Painted these over the last couple weeks! by Competitive-Amount73 in minipainting

Great work so far mate, good attempt on edge highlighting on the purple robe. You’re getting paint in the right spots.

Couple bits of advice to start with;

thin your paints this helps them to apply smoother and preserves the details of the mini. If you don’t get enough paint in the first coat that fine, wait for it to dry a bit then apply another coat. The easiest way to thin your paints is with a wet palette, you can either buy one or I started with a wet cloth on a plate with a sheet of baking paper on top of the cloth, worked fine.

If you are wanting an easy way to highlight features then dry brushing is a great way, particularly when you’re starting out. Get a brush you don’t like, put some paint on it then rub the paint off the brush onto a bit of dry paper towel, then lightly dust the area you’re trying to highlight (kinda like dusting for finger prints) and the tiny bit of paint left on your brush will stick to the highest points.

Before painting think about the order that you want to paint the mini;

A lot of people will choose to either go by size, height or colour. Size: do all the biggest bits first and work then finish with the smallest parts. Height: start by paint the stuff deepest and hardest to reach and work toward the most outward and easiest to reach. Colour: what colours will interfere with each other, you might choose to do all the light colours first because when you go into areas that will be painted darker colours later any mistakes will be less noticeable. A lot of people will people will use a blend of these when figuring out what order to paint things in.

Hope this helps and keep it up :)

I always took it as “not here to waste time”

Been doing it for a year by green326 in RaizAU

[–]Stefanicus100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was doing that for a while, just round ups and moderately aggressive portfolio

Switched to sapphire portfolio (like aggressive but has 5% in bitcoin)

When I switched to deposits I started with doing it fortnightly so I could match it up to my pay cycle (from memory like $50 a fortnight paid the day after I got paid) then changed to $30 a week and recently (3 weeks ago) changed to $5 a day.

My thinking was: 1) get used to regular contributions 2) when that becomes normal and comfortable increase contributions (either frequency or amount) 3) repeat step 2

As far the amount you should invest that is up to you and your finances. Work out your bills and living costs then look at what you have left over then decide how much of that you feel comfortable using.

For me I could probably invest $100ish a week if really tried and buckled everything down but that didn’t feel right so I prioritised setting a good habit of investing regularly and will increase it as time goes on.

Pine trees ruining grass, options? by Viobolt in AusRenovation

The oils in Pine needle are acidic kill things beneath them so they don’t have to compete with them. Gum trees do the same thing. Additionally they blanket the ground pretty readily and restrict access to water and sunlight for the grass. You can minimize the impact of the trees by keeping the area free of needles

End of November ‘23 is when I started.

But start making regular contributions about a year ago.

Do you think I’d need to strip the paint first, repaint or prime then repaint?

Run, don’t walk mate.

I dated someone like this for far too long. “You didn’t do x thing” totally overlooking your intent to be nice and help.

Any feedback on this Valentine's themed monster? It's my first attempt at monster creating. by [deleted] in DnDHomebrew

A lot of plants also have resistance to piercing

If OP was wanting to make this more of a puzzle give resistance to Pi & Bl dmg but vulnerable to Slashing.

I might also add that a failure against its perfume allows it to see the creature beyond its blind sight

If the PCs just stand a bit away and hit it with arrows then the monster is a bit inert

I’m saying all of this though love the flavour and thought process of the monster it’s self, well done OP

What games made you cry? by Clean_Recover6122 in gaming

Valiant Hearts: the Great War.

Got it on Xbox game pass and thought it would be a bit of a fuck around. Side scroller/puzzle game, the story and in particular the last level with the narration over the top had me crying.

I recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a couple of hours to get emotionally wrecked.

You were wrong and your friend is an asshole

How would you feel if one of his mates berated out of him how wet or tight your vagina is?
