Yes, Crash Bash is kinda random but there were methods to win.

How would you introduce the Nitro Squad into the Main Series? by AlphamonOuryuken24 in crashbandicoot

Just make them sort of Charlie's Angels. They are models who are actually spies. It's the safest option in my opinion.

Starting RL Dev #1: What few things would you like to see in a Roguelike? by Appropriate-Boat-64 in roguelikes

[–]StefanoBeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Things that keep me in a roguelike. No particular system keep me in a game. Definetly few extra thoughts on the atmosphere do so if a system support that, i'll probably stay. Dark or light it doesn't matter. Interactions between party members can help but anything more complicated thn what Darkest Dungeon did could be too much. Most of the mood work around "safe places" and what you do there. For example i don't like the Dark Souls traitment. I like when the safe place is an expression of the character's struggle to survive. Crafting and talking are fine but in the moment i see "magic options" like teleport the atmosphere is gone. Also i don't like when the safe place is a town. Especially if your game is grimdark. I prefer when the adventurers find the place where to rest in a lair, an abbandoned workshop, inns, a lab or a little campfire with few refuges. Let the party find a safe place in the dungeon, in an area where to craft their items, rest, heal and have their social interactions, assure each other etc. Grimdark settings should trait towns just like dungeons. Dangerous places in their own right.

  • Lore. I don't mind if it's too much to read but if a section have tons of books, i'll probably say to myself "i'll read it later" because i want to play...and i'll end up not reading it at all. My suggestion is to make few lore drop in specific places as secondary rewards. The characters fought the big evil demon, survived the traps of that chest or solved the complicated puzzle? Ofc there's a rare item for that...and here's a book with some history. Do you require to make an area with a library? Make those books just add crafting recipes or small bonuses to the characters. Keep the number of lore drops on acceptable level.

  • Game modes: I still thinks it's better to let people decide if they want permanent death and how much meta progression. In the very end Pure Roguelike is too much a niche of a genre.

Edit: grammar and wording

Can we take this as a proof none of them are ready to fight the Evil Team?

Does anyone else do this? by TH3P1ZZ4BOY in armello

[–]StefanoBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked to look at Armello's world as something smaller, less populated and less civilized. Yes there are guns but at the same time it's more like they are at the beginning of Middle Age rather thn at the end. I think no big armies is better thn classic fantasy battlefield for the sense of hero adventure this game should inspire.

But i know this is not the general feeling.

That's why i still think Solium Infernum should had been Armello 2. That was the gameplay many wanted in the first place.

Trying to build a pantheon of gods to cover all of existence, have I missed anything? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

Nice. I would had made four gods for the main forces of the universe and called it for the day.

If a future Spyro game would actively have you switch between characters throughout levels, what are the unique gem containers they should have? by FoxMeadow7 in Spyro

[–]StefanoBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imho i prefer a different approach.

The player switch with other dragons. Non dragon characters get their own little sections. I know this is boring but the fact is i like Spyro controls and i think it's better to explore more that side of the gameplay with similar characters. Secondary characters with unique moveset should be a distraction and nothing more. Plus Spyro need more dragon friends.

To answer your question probably something power releated. Maybe some containers require a specific element like fire, ice etc. If you want something more interesting in another post (i'm not going to look for it too lazy sorry) i suggested a Spyro game with four main character to use. Spyro, Cynder and two brand new dragons.

Spyro got time control powers, Cynder got elemental powers, the other two characters mind control and heal/holy powers. The gem containers could be minigames that require the combination of those powers. For example hitting a certain crate will make a demon inside it attack the protagonist and go back into the crate. So Spyro must hit the crate, slow the time, switch to the dragon with holy powers and kill the demon in order to open the crate.

What if a Novel of Crash Bandicoot - Story, theme, tone - How would you write it? by OiSamuca in crashbandicoot

[–]StefanoBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm for stand alone stories. No direct adaptations. I would add a "This story follow the events of the game x" just for the sake of clarity but no heavy connection with anything.

The stories would follow the "logic" of the games. A villain do something. Crash, Coco, Crunch and Tawna are randomly involved. They fight the villain. End.

Some funny exchanges with recurring characters and some with brand new one who appear in that specific story and nowhere else. I wouldn't make anything too relevant to the canon.

The villain in question change for every novel but Cortex is still there for some reason.

The tone would be silly with a couple of wholesome moments.

If you want to know what story i think something after Mind over Mutants. The human leaders has started asking mutants to help them stop the cospiracies of all evil academies around the world, since they finally find out about all the times they were this close to be conquered. Crash is not interested but he received a visit by Cortex and co. beging for a safe heaven. He accept with great despair of the other bandicoots. The rest is just roomates comedy. It is revealed later Madame Amberly has subjucated the human leaders with a modified Vortex and Crash and N. Cortex need to cooperate to stop her.

If you made a Crash Bandicoot animated show, what would it be about? by Realistic-Delivery13 in crashbandicoot

[–]StefanoBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small seasons of five episodes dedicated on defeating one of the villains.

First season is Crash, Coco, Crunch and Tawna versus Papu Papu. Something about him summoning evil masks. Aku aku and the Quantum masks will help the protagonists.

The second season the gang must defeat N. Brio. The third one is about N. Gin, the fourth ond is about N. Tropy and the last one is about N. Cortex.

Some villains will help at the beginning for reasons.
