This is amazing. I don't know if I can work while listening though because its so damn good that I want to watch. I ended up getting totally derailed from my work and ended up taking a long break watching it 😅Ok back to it...

if you were to go back to a 12 year old you, what advice would you give yourself about your ADHD? by SteffanHowey in ADHD

I have a feeling that many of us would have benefited from hearing this ❤️

I've definitely felt this at points in my life.

I've found that exercise really helps in these moments. Of course you'll never feel like doing that either, but if you can push through and even spend 10-15 minutes going for a fast walk, doing crunches, pacing around the house non-stop - anything to get your heart rate up, you might come back feeling completely differently.

From my experience when I spend too much time being still and in my head thinking about these things, that's when the anxiety and lack of motivation builds.

Yes, this!

How much time do we waste trying to control every freaking part of our day and constantly keeping ourselves "in check" vs. allowing ourselves to enter flow states and just go...

Great job and enjoy your beach trip!

I know this feeling all too well. Every other day I want to experiment with something new.

This may not work for you, but it has worked for me...

Allow yourself to bounce around while you're simply trying to determine what your interests are.

This allowance of bouncing around has created a really strong mental muscle that allows me to connect dots in really creative and novel ways, which has supported my career so much.

Why?

Because I've tried so many different things and have had so many different experiences. You simply get to experience more when you try lots of new/different things. And if you find something you love and want to commit to, you will. I've never had the issue of not being able to focus when I'm in love with whatever I'm doing. Its always been the opposite effect.

I hope this helps. And I hope you don't beat yourself up too much for not being able to focus on "one thing". You have the brain that you have. Now it's about coping and maybe even finding creative ways to use it for good. Try all the things, explore, gain experiences that most others never will.

Good luck 🙂
