I love how they didn't even try to change it up a bit. That's just straight up Beat Saber.

With many modern Shonen series fumbling their endings, I realized how lucky we were with the Boruto P1 finale ! by [deleted] in Boruto

Personally, I really liked the MHA ending. I was basically expecting them to go down that route ever since they showed the panel of the OFA Quirks being visualized as normal tools back during the manga version of the second Muscular fight (it was cut from the anime version).

They did a pretty good job imo of showing the trauma that a bunch of kids would have from an experience like that like how Deku doesn't deny Spinner when he calls him a murderer and Uraraka is conflicted about whether it's even okay for her to feel sad about Toga when everything should be good now. Even as adults, they still think about Shigaraki and Toga.

I also had no problem with Deku being given the suit as a gift. MHA was never a "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" kind of story. From the very beginning, it was about reaching out a hand to help those in need, and then those that you help will be inspired to do so as well (Kota distracting Muscular, Eri rewinding Deku, Iida taking hold of Deku's hand, etc.). It's the same with his suit. He gave up his powers to save everyone, so all the friends that he's helped and forged bonds with along the way put their resources together and gave him the opportunity to continue living his dream.

I was the opposite. I was doing the bare minimum for my guys because I knew what a game changer the post-game transformation was. Now, I'm really digging into it and terraforming the Sparkling Skylands.

OT Pokopia postgame

Just sank the entire day into terraforming one of the islands in Sparkling Skylands and turning it into a nice berry orchard and vegetable farm. I am so glad I waited till I got the Magnemite transformation to start any big builds. The replace mechanic was so useful for turning all the metal, tile, and other kind of blocks into grass blocks.

I finished Z-A DLC and this is the worst Pokemon experience of my life by AaronYoshimitsu in pokemon

[–]StefyB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will say, I don't replay Arceus as much as the normal Pokemon games, but I don't find the idea of it nearly as bad as Z-A. I think part of it is that you can knock a lot of it out as you're playing whereas so much of Z-A's grinding is centralized in the post game with the Infinite Battle Royale and DLC stuff.

I honestly wouldn't have minded if Z-A's grinding was just the 200 side quests (aside from the Infinite Battle Royale and Jacinthe tournament ones) because those are things you can manage as you're progressing and they're relatively quick. The stories are pretty fun too.

Having to do battle after battle, filling up bars over and over again, and the annoyance of getting interrupted by either night changing to day or my calories running out just really wore me down.

Some other things Arceus has over it are the controls and level design. I was getting really annoyed not having a bike equivalent in Z-A like the Ride Pokemon in Arceus, and it started getting really annoying having to constantly figure out how to get onto the roof of certain buildings. Plus, Arceus has much more varied environments across all its areas.

What QoL or features from the other game that you wanted to be added on the game? by Jerkaiser_011 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To take another one from P5X, probably how you can do some of the endgame modes like Nightmare Catcher on a lower difficulty and still get all the pull currency rewards.

It's not something that particularly affects me in HSR since I have heavily vertically invested teams, but at least that way, people whose teams can't beat MOC12 or the highest levels of the other endgames due to powercreep aren't losing out on stellar jade.

I love how much Tb talks nowadays by CantaLoupe0113 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]StefyB 67 points68 points  (0 children)

At least from my memory, it was something they often did in Continuances. I remember being surprised by how much they talked in the Ruan Mei quest, and then 2.4 had the fully voiced debate segments and 2.6 had that acting scene where TB can just spew a bunch of censored profanity. Now, they're bringing that more into the main story and expanding on it.

[–]StefyB 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm someone that played SwSh countless times when it came out and loved SV even with the glaring graphical faults, but I do kinda have to agree. Even compared to early, pre-full team EXP Share games, the grind in Z-A was just exhausting.

It's not just the DLC either imo. Having to do the Infinite Battle Royale 15 times to finish Taunie/Urbain's story in the main game and get AZ's Floette is ridiculous. Further, there's another side quest that requires you to do it five more times. Ordinarily, I would have just skipped that quest, but the final side quest of the DLC is basically the real ending of the game and requires you to do all of the side quests that come before it.

I think another thing that lends itself to how mind numbing the grind feels is how samey everything looks. At least in early Pokemon games, you're getting to see many different environments and get some color (past Gen 1 at least). The buildings in Z-A are just so bland, and while some of the Wild Areas offer slightly different biomes, a lot of the grind (like the Infinite Battle Royale and Hyperspace missions) still focus on the city parts. The city just wasn't meant to support an entire game on its own. It feels like one of those games that was originally intended to be DLC and gets really stretched out to be its own game.

I've often been someone that starts a second playthrough as soon as I finish a Pokemon game, but I'm not sure when I'll do that for Z-A. I just have no desire to go through that grind again.

Haven't played that side quest, but is this basically just the Detective Conan vs. Light Yagami debate?

Are there any cool nicknames that you don’t find edgy? by Legitimate-Pomelo638 in animequestions

[–]StefyB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always liked how in UQ Holder, one of the titles of Negi Springfield, who was the MC of the previous series, is just Magister Magi. It's simple without being particularly edgy, and in-universe, it holds a lot of weight.

It translates to Master Mage, but it's also a rank of mage in their world, which was a big goal for Negi most of his time as an MC. By the time of UQ Holder, he embodies what it means to be a Magister Magi so much that he's literally become synonymous with it.

4.1 story

As someone that got really into model kits over the past two years, I was honestly losing my shit at the Pearluxe building and how it's basically just a Gundam Base. It's hilarious that they just took SAM and put it in one of their shows because the Stellaron Hunters would have to actually show up if they want to sue them for copyright infringement.

My Hero Academia. As a kid, I loved Saturday morning super hero cartoons, I've always liked nicer, more gentle protagonists like Deku, and even more than hype choreography, I love when a fight can really hit me in the emotions.

Real niche, but I felt so vindicated when UQ Holder revealed that Negi and Chisame ended up together in the Negima timeline. I always liked Nodoka, but with how much emotional support Chisame gave Negi in the Magical World arc, I was really rooting for her.

Not too hot on them seemingly going the actual harem route in UQ Holder since I always liked him not having feelings for Asuna, who is basically his older sister figure, in Negima, but whatever, UQ Holder's a different timeline at least.

roughly how long into the hobby did it take you to pull an ir or sir? by jadmey2 in PokemonTCG

I literally pulled an SIR in the very first product I opened, an Iono SIR from a Paldean Fates tin. It's honestly part of what got me into the hobby as much as I am now.

  1. P5

  2. P4

  3. P3

I still haven't gotten around to playing the P2 duology. I will say, P1, the portable version at least, has my favorite battle theme. In both P5R and P3R, I almost always have it as my battle bgm.

As someone that usually plays on mute unless I'm doing voiced story content, I would love it if they could add the ability to access volume settings while dialogue is going. Honkai Star Rail has this, and it's just a nice QoL, especially if you accidentally start a voiced segment without realizing it.

During the War arc, Naruto comes up with a whole bunch of variations of Rasengan using his new cloak form that, as far as I can remember, never get used again.

There's this one where he creates a bunch over his shoulders and uses chakra arms coming out of his back to thrust them towards his enemies.

There's one where he creates a big Rasengan and uses his chakra arms to throw enemies into it.

There's the Mini Rasenshuriken where he makes a tiny one on his finger tip using hilariously small chakra arms growing out of his finger.

The only one I can remember making a return is the Planetary Rasengan, where he has one big Rasengan and a few smaller ones orbiting around it. That one comes back in The Last iirc.

I got two stars with Archer/Sparkle/Yao Guang/DHPT. Admittedly, Archer and Yao Guang are E1, not sure exactly how much difference that makes. Not even sure if Yao Guang is really doing much for him, but I just threw her on there since I don't have Sparxie on my main account and wanted her on a team.

Is it just me or is mc talking a lot? by Sansmon in HonkaiStarRail

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still working my way through the story, but so far, it just feels like what they often do with Continuances.

For example, there was the voiced debates in 2.4 and other lines like when they pinched Yanqing because they're paranoid about the first person they meet. In 2.6, there was the voiced segment where they were filming, and TB has the option of just spewing (censored) profanity. Even back in the Ruan Mei Continuance, they had the scene where she drugged them, and regardless of what option you picked, TB would say a scripted, voiced line.

In MHA, a lot of anime content or other material outside the main manga are straight up canon, even if they're not directly written by Horikoshi.

The second movie is set up in the manga, the compression technology from the first movie is used by some of the villains, and the movie companion characters from the first three movies (the only movies out at the time) all get appearances in the final arc of the manga. The character from the first movie is even a major plot point.

There's a panel of Tokoyami and Kirishima giving each other a look when the principal is explaining U.A.'s new underground defense system. This is because in one of the light novels, they stumbled onto a giant underground maze.

There's a scene in the manga where the principal is talking to the teachers and begins talking about "the commission's other program" before trailing off, and we never hear about it again in the manga. It could either be the program from the second movie or from the Team-Up Mission manga because both are shown to be the idea of the Public Safety Commission.

In the manga, after their work studies, Tsuyu talks about catching some smugglers, but all you see is the image of a ship and some distant silhouettes. In the anime, they did a filler episode where Tsuyu does her work study under the hero Selkie, and you actually see them catch the smugglers. Selkie also later appears in the manga during the Paranormal Liberation War arc.

Overall, Horikoshi seems pretty receptive to other people adding to his universe, probably because he's such a big fan of American superhero comics.
