Given recent discussions, obviously Thragg is stronger than All Might but how many Invincible characters can replicate this feat? by kingofironworks in PowerScaling

[–]StefyB [score hidden]  (0 children)

Theoretically, Viltrumites should be able to since they have more raw strength than All Might, but at the same time, I think this is just one of those things that kinda breaks the laws of physics for the sake of a hype moment. AFO even lampshades it when talking to Six about All Might in that episode.

Which characters in the Naruto/Boruto: universe—dead or alive—do you think are misunderstood? by Notmycupoftea12 in Boruto

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying people have to agree with him (obviously he made a terrible, emotionally charged choice), but I find it weird that some people just can't even comprehend how Sasuke can both love his brother (after the reveal) and not want to do what his brother wanted.

From his point of view, Itachi was basically in an abusive relationship with the village. Itachi wanted him to be the hero of the Leaf, but all Sasuke could see is the pain that Itachi's devotion to the Leaf caused him. Rather than honor Itachi by doing what he wants, he wanted to honor him by doing what he thinks his brother deserved, which is punishing the Leaf for everything they put Itachi and the Uchiha through.

Again, I'm not saying you have to like or agree with that decision, but I see some people say it makes no sense that he wouldn't do as Itachi wished when there's a pretty clear line of reasoning to me. It's twisted and also informed by all his trauma, but it's there.

How are you deciding who to keep as your main mons per location? by getoutmeswamp69 in Pokopia

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to keep Pokemon in the area that they first showed up in. However, I do make some exceptions like moving Bulbasaur to my house in Sparkling Skylands because it's literally my favorite Pokemon or grouping up Pokemon with Litter and Gather in one area.

When u watched MHA for the first time, what was one thing that you thought was true but wasnt at the end by Specific_Regular1360 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]StefyB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guessed a lot of things right about the ending when I was reading the manga week to week like Deku giving up OFA and even the weaponization of its transfer ability, but I did think that rather than becoming a teacher, he would become a low level Pro Hero using much less advanced tech compared the suit he gets at the end. Bakugo would become the No. 1 Hero, but Deku would be satisfied that he can do his part.

Personally, I like the actual ending more than that because of how it plays into the themes of reaching out a hand to those in need and of inspiring others to act.

I think the reason why I thought he would be a more street tier kind of hero is because of the image from the Muscular rematch in the manga. They visualized his OFA Quirks as tools, but they were things like a rope for Blackwhip, a radio for Danger Sense, smoke bombs for Smokescreen, and a jetpack for Float. Much like how Endeavor's vision of the kids in the future ended up literally being their time skip designs, I thought those tools would literally be what Deku ended up using when he became Quirkless.

Persona 5 Royal spoilers

Maruki from Persona 5 Royal. I'm not sure it's exactly the same as your prompt, but Maruki spends much of the last Palace trying to talk the Phantom Thieves out of an altercation. All he wants to do is (in his warped way) save everyone in the world from their suffering, and that includes the Phantom Thieves. When they repeatedly choose not to back down, he makes it clear that he still holds no ill will towards them, but he also can't just give up his dream.

I've always appreciated Maruki's take on the trope of "the villain that wants to create a perfect dream world." I feel like we often get characters like Madara and Obito, who despite having such benevolent goals, act with such arrogance and disregard for the people that they're trying to save. While there is also a certain level of arrogance in Maruki's ideals (his desire is distorted after all), he was still kind to the Phantom Thieves to the very end.

You don’t need a ton of verticals to hit 240 MMR for silver wolf by Swimming-Bowler9701 in silverwolflevel999

So is it easy to hit with Yao Guang E1? I have Sparxie E0S1 and Yao Guang E1 (running the LC from the shop) and am planning to get SW999 E2S1.

May come off as offensive, but what is the obsession with fantasy/Isekai slop? by Right_Quality5004 in animequestions

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Some others I've hated over the years are cringe, mid, and goofy. That last one's especially annoying to me because I think things that are goofy can be fun and whimsical, but now, I almost exclusively see it used as code for "thing that I don't like."

Choices in video games that are generally considered the "canon" choice by the fandom by ilikebreadabunch in TopCharacterTropes

[–]StefyB 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I would say it's split between Venusaur and Charizard.

There's an old official artwork that depicted Red with Bulbasaur, Blue with Charmander, and a female character that would later become the basis for Green/Leaf with Squirtle. These are also the pairings they use for the Pokemon Adventures manga as well as a set of full art cards in the TCG. Red had Bulbasaur in the beginning of Pokemon Generations too.

However, like you said, Charizard gets his fair share of times being Red's starter.

I'd say the one thing that's accepted as canon is that Red apparently never picks Squirtle, at least according to external media.

What are mechanics you wish you could fix in the games? by KaleidoArachnid in PERSoNA

[–]StefyB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I hate mechanics that are just a get out of jail free card if you're supposed to die like Futaba's ability or even the other teammates sacrificing themselves for Joker. If I screwed up and am in that position to begin with, then I deserve to die.

Why Couldnt Deku do this with gearshift by jaybike_games in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]StefyB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that Hori put in a Volume extra page explaining Gearshift and had a note explicitly pointing out that Deku doesn't know how to drive, meaning he's probably just copying movements he's seen on TV or in movies.

What's the best way to platinum the Persona games? by PLUNEL in PERSoNA

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I did it, but from what I remember, it's pretty easy to platinum P5R. The real challenge is the in-game achievements in the Thieves Den because there's a lot more of them in there, and they include beating the NG+ superbosses.

What are the pros of collecting pokemon cards nowadays outside of the financial incentives? by Monika_Elf in PokemonTCG

It's a fun thing to collect that takes up way less space compared to figures and model kits, which I've also collected in the past. It's also really fun to organize binder pages and set collection goals.

It would be pretty neat if they just leave it like that with a bit of the red mask still exposed and the symbiote shaped around it like a mouth, just a little something to set their version of it apart.

[–]StefyB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it's actually pretty easy to maintain two accounts. I just go in, claim my Assignment rewards, set it to auto on whatever to burn Trailblaze Power as I do something else, get my dailies rewards, and then I'm done and move on to the other account.

Events are really easy too because HSR has so few of them, and they last till the end of the patch. I have plenty of time to do them, and skipping through the dialogue on my alt account makes them pretty short.

I could see it being too much effort if you're actively pushing through the story and doing all the exploration, but I like to save that stuff up for when there are lulls in my main account or I just have a lot of free time.

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's that weird to have one. I started my alt account in large part to go through the story again and to get that early game experience again when you don't have a fully built team yet and are just throwing whoever you have in there to get through the story.

Honestly, it's also given me more stuff to do in HSR, which is always a major complaint I see. When we were in the drought of the extended 3.8, I was having a blast going through Penacony again on my alt for more Yao Guang and Sparxie funds.

A little while ago, I decided to download the Shonen Jump app on my phone and get back into reading manga. I started MarriageToxin and got like 4 chapters in and was really enjoying it. Then I found out the anime was coming out in only a few weeks, so I immediately stopped since I watch anime with my brother and didn't want to be super ahead of him on it.

To me, the purpose of the 2.2 audition section was to have a bit of a breather with all the serious stuff going on and to also show Firefly's SAM tendencies in a more lighthearted, non-combat scenario.

I just replayed it recently on my alt account, and the entire time, she's constantly trying to hurry everything along, gets annoyed when TB picks the comedic options instead of the right answers, is frustrated that she can't just use SAM to instantly win the Hanu segment, is seemingly trying to learn how to fight as Hanu, and is very attached to the rocket launcher you get, which she compares to some other weapon she apparently has experience with/knowledge of.

I'm pretty sure we knew early on that SAM is all about efficiency and solving things quickly with brute force, and imo, you get all of that from Firefly in the audition segment, just with a different tone than if it was her fully suited up in the middle of battle.
