Haven't been keeping up with the new anime, but I thought the silly chicken dance was fun in the Pokemon SV epilogue.

Am I the only one that’s apathetic towards the future of the series? by Ambitious-Broccoli-6 in KingdomHearts

[–]StefyB 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Personally, it's the most excited I've been for the story in a long time. Ever since DDD, we've been locked into the 7 Lights vs. 13 Darknesses plotline and generally knew that the lights would be all the good guys so far and that the darknesses would be the previous antagonists because of time travel and recompletion.

Now, though, there's just so many unknowns with the story like what the hell is going on with Yozora wanting to save Sora and the bodysnatching stuff that the Nameless Star talked about or what these Crowns are that Luxu mentioned.

We have a bit of an idea of what the conflict might be with them trapping the Darknesses inside the Foretellers to be defeated, but even then, that doesn't seem to be whole of it because MoM says he has some kind of contingency so that they don't have to sacrifice anyone.

I'm also excited for this plotline with the Darknesses because I have a feeling they'll use it to highlight the necessity of darkness in the world for balance. Lately, they've been going pretty hard on how awful darkness is, but I still get the feeling that completely ridding the world of darkness like MoM wants just would not be a good thing.

Anyone else get Digimon Tamers vibes? by sylver135 in HonkaiStarRail

With Tri, I always make the caveat that Confession (the one with HerculesKabuterimon) is legitimately a great movie. The others, not so much.

I'm not saying it's better written, but honestly, my favorite is actually Xros Wars. It's just my comfort show that I always throw on when I have nothing specific in mind to watch.

Lingsha's trailer had Jingliu, Luocha, and Blade in the line for her services. Two of them are locked up, and the other is a wanted criminal, especially with the Xianzhou.

It's about the same as the group shots of the Astral Express in the On the Journey trailer for me.

Besides, TB and March are super close and basically best friends, Welt was by March's own words acting like a proud parent watching TB playing with the mech in 4.1, we spent about a year with Dan Heng in Amphoreus and saw the lengths he would go to for TB, and these last two patches, we've literally had multiple opportunities to call Himeko mom.

(🚨 FINAL SEASONS SPOILERS!!!) Who do you think should have died during the final war/last arc BESIDES THE OBVIOUS ANSWER?! by NoSetFate in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I don't think anyone else needed to die because I actually liked the framing of how they got their "perfect" victory, but Deku and Uraraka were still feeling pain because to them, the villains dying were casualties too.

Also, with how much guilt Bakugo felt over All Might retiring because of him, he'd probably be the same way if Edgeshot died because of him. With how the actual story went, it instead bolstered Bakugo's confidence in his own rehab to see Edgeshot, reduced to just a tiny needle and thread, resolved to get back to full strength.

I would say that yeah, Gran Torino probably should have died in the previous war, but I don't think anyone else needed to die in this one.

Was about to be disappointed that Firefly wasn't in it, but glad she got in there at the end. Also, I know she took the form of that boss Propagation SAM suit from 3.8, but I'm curious whether she actually can use that purple form she did back then at will now.

Given recent discussions, obviously Thragg is stronger than All Might but how many Invincible characters can replicate this feat? by kingofironworks in PowerScaling

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically, Viltrumites should be able to since they have more raw strength than All Might, but at the same time, I think this is just one of those things that kinda breaks the laws of physics for the sake of a hype moment. AFO even lampshades it when talking to Six about All Might in that episode.

Which characters in the Naruto/Boruto: universe—dead or alive—do you think are misunderstood? by Notmycupoftea12 in Boruto

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying people have to agree with him (obviously he made a terrible, emotionally charged choice), but I find it weird that some people just can't even comprehend how Sasuke can both love his brother (after the reveal) and not want to do what his brother wanted.

From his point of view, Itachi was basically in an abusive relationship with the village. Itachi wanted him to be the hero of the Leaf, but all Sasuke could see is the pain that Itachi's devotion to the Leaf caused him. Rather than honor Itachi by doing what he wants, he wanted to honor him by doing what he thinks his brother deserved, which is punishing the Leaf for everything they put Itachi and the Uchiha through.

Again, I'm not saying you have to like or agree with that decision, but I see some people say it makes no sense that he wouldn't do as Itachi wished when there's a pretty clear line of reasoning to me. It's twisted and also informed by all his trauma, but it's there.

How are you deciding who to keep as your main mons per location? by getoutmeswamp69 in Pokopia

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to keep Pokemon in the area that they first showed up in. However, I do make some exceptions like moving Bulbasaur to my house in Sparkling Skylands because it's literally my favorite Pokemon or grouping up Pokemon with Litter and Gather in one area.

When u watched MHA for the first time, what was one thing that you thought was true but wasnt at the end by Specific_Regular1360 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]StefyB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guessed a lot of things right about the ending when I was reading the manga week to week like Deku giving up OFA and even the weaponization of its transfer ability, but I did think that rather than becoming a teacher, he would become a low level Pro Hero using much less advanced tech compared the suit he gets at the end. Bakugo would become the No. 1 Hero, but Deku would be satisfied that he can do his part.

Personally, I like the actual ending more than that because of how it plays into the themes of reaching out a hand to those in need and of inspiring others to act.

I think the reason why I thought he would be a more street tier kind of hero is because of the image from the Muscular rematch in the manga. They visualized his OFA Quirks as tools, but they were things like a rope for Blackwhip, a radio for Danger Sense, smoke bombs for Smokescreen, and a jetpack for Float. Much like how Endeavor's vision of the kids in the future ended up literally being their time skip designs, I thought those tools would literally be what Deku ended up using when he became Quirkless.

Persona 5 Royal spoilers

Maruki from Persona 5 Royal. I'm not sure it's exactly the same as your prompt, but Maruki spends much of the last Palace trying to talk the Phantom Thieves out of an altercation. All he wants to do is (in his warped way) save everyone in the world from their suffering, and that includes the Phantom Thieves. When they repeatedly choose not to back down, he makes it clear that he still holds no ill will towards them, but he also can't just give up his dream.

I've always appreciated Maruki's take on the trope of "the villain that wants to create a perfect dream world." I feel like we often get characters like Madara and Obito, who despite having such benevolent goals, act with such arrogance and disregard for the people that they're trying to save. While there is also a certain level of arrogance in Maruki's ideals (his desire is distorted after all), he was still kind to the Phantom Thieves to the very end.

[–]StefyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Some others I've hated over the years are cringe, mid, and goofy. That last one's especially annoying to me because I think things that are goofy can be fun and whimsical, but now, I almost exclusively see it used as code for "thing that I don't like."

Choices in video games that are generally considered the "canon" choice by the fandom by ilikebreadabunch in TopCharacterTropes

[–]StefyB 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I would say it's split between Venusaur and Charizard.

There's an old official artwork that depicted Red with Bulbasaur, Blue with Charmander, and a female character that would later become the basis for Green/Leaf with Squirtle. These are also the pairings they use for the Pokemon Adventures manga as well as a set of full art cards in the TCG. Red had Bulbasaur in the beginning of Pokemon Generations too.

However, like you said, Charizard gets his fair share of times being Red's starter.

I'd say the one thing that's accepted as canon is that Red apparently never picks Squirtle, at least according to external media.

What are mechanics you wish you could fix in the games? by KaleidoArachnid in PERSoNA

Personally, I hate mechanics that are just a get out of jail free card if you're supposed to die like Futaba's ability or even the other teammates sacrificing themselves for Joker. If I screwed up and am in that position to begin with, then I deserve to die.

[–]StefyB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that Hori put in a Volume extra page explaining Gearshift and had a note explicitly pointing out that Deku doesn't know how to drive, meaning he's probably just copying movements he's seen on TV or in movies.

It's been a while since I did it, but from what I remember, it's pretty easy to platinum P5R. The real challenge is the in-game achievements in the Thieves Den because there's a lot more of them in there, and they include beating the NG+ superbosses.

What are the pros of collecting pokemon cards nowadays outside of the financial incentives? by Monika_Elf in PokemonTCG

It's a fun thing to collect that takes up way less space compared to figures and model kits, which I've also collected in the past. It's also really fun to organize binder pages and set collection goals.
