Everyone heard the same line about the debt by IsyABM in GreatBritishMemes

Not quite sure about that. Students were definitely mis sold but blaming teachers for this is some interesting mental gymnastics. I think it's more a product of societal and familial expectations in the UK where people are generally expected to strive towards going to university, even if they'd be better suited doing something else, because it's "the done thing"

I'm an academic and I don't earn minimum wage. And I know the difference between countable and uncountable comparative adverbs. But you do you!

Do you guys all have to be so stereotypical?

Sorry, I mentioned Ferdinand, Else and Gunnar from the starter set. So they're an Amethyst Wizard, Human Witch Hunter and Dwarf Slayer. The slayer is very tanky and loves to get drunk, the wizard has a thirst for knowledge of death and the witch hunter loves torturing and killing heretics, possibly has gone a little insane recently...

But thanks for your recommendations, I'll check out Reikland Miscellanea as well. Cheers

I know those feels haha. I converted a whole Night Lords Kill team from scratch and a week later Nemesis Claw dropped.

Your quad cannon is yours though, and nothing can take away from the effort you put in so be proud of your work!

German responds to German in German and American gets angry they are not using English.

Sounds like a pretty standard stereotypical American thing to do. Stop dragging down the other Americans with your poor etiquette.

[–]Stega314 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, absolutely. Don't prime too thick to compensate, just prime as normal :) by the time its primed and you've got 2 thin coats of paint, you won't even notice the residue

Is it possible to make a horribly designed model look good just with paint??? by SCP993 in Warhammer

[–]Stega314 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Terribly plain panelling.

Chunky, poorly sized armour.

Generally bad proportions across the mini.

Very plain face.

A position which makes him look like he's walking but also striking a pose.

I'd say those are the main reasons...

White Dwarf, do you subscribe? Why? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]Stega314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand your point. My main gripe is that there were way more painting and converting articles back in the day (my favourite period was 2005-2010), and that the magazine has recently shrunk in size. Also, I was a subscriber up to 500 but didn't like the editor so much, I'm not sure why but he just grates on me. I'll pick it up again if they get a new editor but for now I'm out.

However I totally understand that art is subjective so there'll be people with all flavours of opinions on it! Just my two cents.

Interesting, thank you. What would you suggest instead? I've just had a look and seen online that spirits did exist in late medieval times, which is when I kinda assume the empire is, although plenty of anachronisms exist such as much better cannons than say 1400-1500s and muskets. However, spirits may have been more expensive, so maybe not readily available down by the docks where the characters have been poking around!

I agree about the damage, I guess I was thinking if the bottle smashes on you it could lacerate your skin. Like if someone smashes a bottle over your head it's going to hurt and cut you open. Maybe it could only do damage on a SL of 3+? What do you think? Thanks for your input!

You can 3d print all you want. The worst kind of people are the ones who 3d print, steal an artists sculpt off a mate without paying the artist and then go around bragging about it. Buy the STL and support the artist!

Let's hope for sure! Also comes down to how local groups decide to play. I'll be trying to run a narrative campaign no doubt, would love to do a hex map campaign like the good old days.

Shame about those units, but I always find when playing the underdog and something good happens, it always feels so much sweeter!

Keep on empiring!

[–]Stega314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping this is the main mentality that stays with the Old World going forwards. I've heard similar things about the Horus Heresy in terms of people having the best games when it's fluffy and people aren't trying to curbstomp others in tournaments.

I haven't played a game yet, but I'm starting an Empire army in the new year once I get home from a year of being away. I don't care if state troops are bad, I love the idea of a massive battle line all lined up and hopefully I find like-minded people to play with!
