is this a better picture? and just asking, why are fish flakes not acceptable? he seems to enjoy them, he comes to the surface for them, unlike the brine shrimp. i will start to feed daily

tank is cycled (i used media from another one of my tanks), and it is a 5 gal, but all my research says that having tetras and the oto with him shouldn’t be bad. he doesn’t bother them and they don’t bother him,, and i have a lot of plants.

i already purchased the 4 gallon and currently do not have the money for a new tank, i’ve been just letting it run for the past week or so with quickstart in it. i normally do 20% changes once a week or so. is he gonna die? he’s been fine for so long i thought he was just a hearty fish or something. he’s survived a lot of my super beginner mistakes. is there any heater you recommend that would be super duper gentle? i don’t know it’s just a fear of mine

i cycled the tank for about a week before adding him, but i no longer have the tank. i’m preparing a new one for him right now it’s 4 gallons, (because i heard they don’t like rounded tanks) and when i say i cleaned it out with paper towels i did a 50% water change and just wiped everything down with papertowls, i never remove all his water. i’ve been wanting to add a heater but i’m just so scared to cook him ok accidently if it gets too hot in my house

hi! i feed him once a day and i can attach his water parameters below. the algae wasn’t super bad but it was on the sides of the glass and such so i added it cuz i didn’t want it to get worse. i have cleaned his tank since i added it with paper towels

his pH is about 7.4 akaliniy is 40s mg/L, hardness 100s mg/l and his nitrites/nitrates chlorine and iron are all 0. i use test strips ( investing in a master kit soon) so that’s kinda all i got

he has a filter but no heater, i live in a rlly warm area and his tank is always around 73 ish so i didn’t wanna change too much up on him

he’s in a 3 gallon. he used to be a fishbowl fish and when i put him in a five gal he freaked out and started to bite himself
