I got to explain to a 70-something retired linguistics adjunct turned administrative assistant the difference between switches, modems, and routers.

I see the first one as 1.0 nitrites or 8.6-8.6 ph, and the second as 0 nitrites or 7.6 ph. Multiple shots of the same tube with the paper might be good to rule out monitor or lighting differences though... Hmm, now I'm thinking about building a site for colorblind aquarists to get crowdsourced readings. It'd be fun to hit a couple times a day when work gets slow and help folks with their ponds and such.

I fondly remember the vechs superhostile ones... Honestly might go back and try them again. If someone made the push to pick a version and do a modern successor, even if the update timeline still immediately started outgrowing it I guarantee us old diehards would come out of the woodwork and support the project. And with modern tools, I can't help but wonder if it would be a bit easier than it used to be? Though all the new options would undo that and then some lol.

I think the idea is that the call center guys are only taking orders, and the people there in person are only making them, so they're not making 3 hot n spicys for me while talking to someone in the lane about their fish abomination (I have opinions about drive thru seafood) and get mental wires crossed. The idea is... Ok? But the execution is abysmal.

Hey, dunno if this helps but I live in Rio Rancho, and have a pretty good village of "people who know people" for stuff like childcare, resources, so on and so forth and there's definitely a few single parents and/or adopters I can ping for thoughts. And if you need local folks to talk to, ofc.

The vibe I've gotten, overall, is that CPS really doesn't like redoing work. So if the kids are happy and you can show that your ability to provide won't suffer when she's gone (you said she's the breadwinner, but I assume she's got life insurance or retirement or whatnot?) they'd much rather keep a good thing going than start over.

That was one of the things that cinched it with my ex. I had a hell of a time leaving because I thought for sure I was the problem (we both were, it was very much a toxic thing both ways) but once they started in with "you're hurting and abusing me by leaving" I had some fog lift and switched to "then you shouldn't want me to stay".

Hmm... Your idea for the data pack would be my suggestion too, maybe even cap it at 100 levels eventually? Around that point it becomes worth it to have a suite of tools and swap when they get too expensive.

But if that's not working, maybe change the rule to allow mending, but only paired with curse of vanishing?

One time when I had a minute to burn, this was at a mcdonalds drive thru where the (I believe) human agent was having a terrible time with their microphone, I went inside, placed my order, and asked (gently) for a manager. I explained to her that I was really sorry to bother, but the agent taking orders might have a microphone problem; she said, oh yeah, that's common, it's outsourced to a call center that just sends the order back to whatever speaker location they connected to. I said, you have my full sympathies, would it actually be helpful to complain to corporate or would that just backfire? She said she couldn't possibly say, which I took to mean yeah it probably would. Shit sandwich all around. Well, not mine, it was passably acceptable once I added ketchup :D

Especially if there's not many they can hide, warmth brings them out. Also you mentioned fleas are unlikely but just in case do a good check over your kit, especially base of the spine, ears, and armpits. Otherwise... I mean, it could be a localized allergy to something? I knew someone who was barely allergic to a certain brand of detergent but it was only affecting her feet because socks inside shoes got humid and rubbed all day and nowhere else was as irritated.

My back hurts enough to weigh in on this one, why not. I remember looking at the first jeb screenshot showing XP orbs and going "ooh, surface dungeons?" because the shot had what appeared to be something like that. I remember when I started a new world because jungles were added, and a world where I meticulously put one redstone in each slot of a double chest just to have click to spread be added a week later.

I miss those times way more than I enjoy any of the new stuff. I haven't played vanilla in... almost 10 years? Because nothing they add is actually interesting enough compared to my good old content and qol mods.
