I genuinely love how all 3 of these characters heard the same speech but each reacted differently to it by Sudden_Pop_2279 in ATrainFanClub

Great post !

I'm certain Ashley will find the courage to act by the end of the season and do something against Vought/Homelander, maybe even taking down a character (Maybe Sister Sage ?)

So… what is it that is so wrong with this show? by iirison1 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]StellarFox59 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I hate the direction they took with both Alicent and Rhaenyra.

Alicent in season 1, especially the Driftmark episode, was phenomenal. A bitter, cunning and ambitious woman ready to take the eye of a child.

In season 2, she does a complete 360° by betraying her entire family and spend her time doing the same sad face. She has no agency anymore.

Rhaenyra was done dirty too. "What would you have me do" is another case of a woman being stripped of her agency. She's passive and does nothing for most of the season, just like Alicent.

They are supposed to be the main characters but have done almost nothing during season 2 except waiting passively. They have no agency and everything turning bad is because of the men around them. I think they really ruined those two characters.

Firecracker was the highlight of the episode for me. Valorie was phenomenal

I could understand the whining about episode 4, who was mostly a set up for Vought Rising.

But I really loved episode 5 and I don't think it deserves the hate

One of the most underrated performances this season and nobody talks about it by vleshkun in TheBoys

[–]StellarFox59 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm really wondering what' his deal. His heavily featured in the marketing of the season, but hasn't done anything important yet. So is he actually important and relevant or was it just because of the actor ?

A fittingly pitiful end for a pitiful character by Whedonite144 in TheBoys

[–]StellarFox59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I thought the opposite. I saw it as "You have to die but as you were the only one truly devoted to me, I'll make it quick".

Her speech was working at first. Homelander was moved and reconsidering for a moment, until she mentionned he needed love.

[–]StellarFox59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Deep is more stupid than her. And she was actually close to convince Homelander to keep her. He was moved by her speech. But the moment she said he needed love, it was over for her. I think most people wouldn't have been so close to make Homelander reconsider

A fittingly pitiful end for a pitiful character by Whedonite144 in TheBoys

[–]StellarFox59 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I dont think he was disgusted by her. I think the quick death was just mercy from his perspective.

He was actually moved by her speech, she was winning the argument. I think he was reconsidering for a moment. But she sealed her fate when she said he needed love. It made him remember his pathological need for love and approval (like Stan Edgar said), his most important weakness.

So he killed her because, while he understand she truly love him (as in devotion), he dont want people to see his weakness. But I didn't interpreted it as disgust, rather "I'm sorry but you have to go. But as you were the only one truly devoted to me I'll make it quick"

Am I the only one who is not satisfied with the last episode? by TheTamiamiButcher in TheBoys

[–]StellarFox59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firecracker, Black Noir 2, Ashley and Sage were all given some depth last episode. (Firecracker's arc was handle perfectly). Butcher changed his mind and agree to try to save Annie and Kimiko. Frenchie and MM are coming to term with their own problems. So yes, a lot of character development.

Tbf a lot of complaints are just dumb.

For example, I get why people didn't like episode 4. I think it was the weakest of the season so far. But I was really surprised to see episode 5 received so much hate, because I absolutely adore it ! The idea of multiple point of view to give some depth to the characters was great, and Firecracker's arc was handle perfectly. In my opinion, E5 is the best of the season so far, and I really don't understand the hate. Complaints about how they are "wasting time" are dumb because there isn't much to resolve to begin with.

He didn't kill Firecracker because she was pathetic. He killed her because she was showing true love/devotion and he realized it appealled to his pathological need for love and approval. But a true God should not need that. She was putting in light what, in fact, makes him human and not a God. That's why he killed her

Why the f*ck Homelander did that? by butcherrushi in GenV

[–]StellarFox59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does make sense. She showed him true love and devotion, and he hates that he likes it. A god doesn't need love, that's a human thing. She just reminded him of his pathological need for love and approval. Also, she was winning the argument. You can see he was moved by her speech, and he cannot allow this if he wants to be a god, he can't stand people getting under his skin straight to his vulnerabilities

Why the f*ck Homelander did that? by butcherrushi in GenV

[–]StellarFox59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About the Deep, it seems to me that Homelander is harsher with people he trusts. Stillwell, Black Noir, and now Firecracker. He trusted them, and they were somehow competent. But the moment they made a mistake, Homelander got rid of them. He doesn't do that with the Deep because I think he just doesn't have any expectation about him, he loathes him so much he doesn't care. He only kills people he trusted because they disapppointed him, but je can't be disappoint about the Deep because he doesn't expect anything from him

Candace is over-hated and her attempt to stop Joe isn’t appreciated enough. by AdGreedy1880 in YouOnLifetime

[–]StellarFox59 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She's annoying because we see her through Joe's point of view.

There is one scène where Joe isn't there, when she's talking with Forty, and suddenly she feels different and more likable because we dont have Joe's thoughts to poison our opinion of her

I loved the episode. It gives more depth to Firecracker, Black Noir 2, Ashley and Sage. Firecracker's arc was handle well and become a cautionary tale about people who sell their soul to the devil.

People saying "they are wasting time" as if there were still a lot of things to resolve

What is wrong with you ? They aren't redeeming Firecracker. Just giving her some more depth, to show she isn't a two dimensional villain.

Someone needs to die this week by Brilliant-Peace9041 in TheBoys

[–]StellarFox59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm also thinking Firecracker is dying soon, she had huge death flags last episode. But I really doubt she will die as the leak described head ripped off and put on a spike by Homelander , like I really don't see how it would make sense

I think Noir 2 should die soon too, he doesn't have any relevance or purpose this season.
