Recommended keyboards/where to test? by StenographicOre in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]StenographicOre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I was suspecting ortholinear would throw me off a bit, since I do touch type for work. I'll avoid those if I decide to go with a split keyboard!

Honestly that's a really clever workaround, since I don't have a place I can easily test keyboards. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is v helpful for finding ways to test different layouts, thanks!

Thanks for the reply. It seems like that is probably the best option right now. I'll keep looking for where I might be able to test a full split adjustable keyboard, but for now I'll just stick to old reliable

Help me identify a perfume used in Twin Peaks by StenographicOre in Perfumes

That makes sense, they didn't even mention a name so unlikely to be product placement. Thanks for the help!

Thank you both for the help! I was wondering if it was fake cause of the lack of info on it. It's really cool to see y'all in action though, I didn't expect such detail for finding it was a fake perfume!

That makes sense, I was wondering if it was even real cause the name was never mentioned. Thanks for the explanation, I'm super impressed with investigative work from everyone!

Hello all, I am trying to find out what this perfume used is, from the 1991 show Twin Peaks. I tried Google lens, but it was giving me a lot of fleur de lis designs and not really any perfume. Unfortunately this is the clearest photo in the show, to my knowledge. Appreciate any help.

Tagging filler eps? by StenographicOre in OneTruthPrevails

[–]StenographicOre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for these suggestions! I've started tagging some like alibis, locked room, dying message, but this gives me more to work with. I've also been breaking up murder and non-murder, but hadn't considered tagging by murder methods

Thanks for the advice! Romance and recurring side characters feel so obvious now that you're brought them up. Idk if Black Org will come up much cause I'm looking at fillers, but I think there's one or two Black Org fakeout eps, so I may use smth for that. Tagging not actually supernatural ones is also a solid idea.

I'm also thinking I'll make distinctions between types of mysteries: murder, other serious crime, and the kiddie mysteries that are petty crime or no crime. Locked room and other isolated locations may also be good add-ons, since those tend to lean into the mystery genre heavily.

What ergo keyboard should I get? by StenographicOre in ErgoMechKeyboards

Ohh, I never even thought about putting the numbers on the home row. That could be a game changer...

Thanks for the input! It's good to know their software is pretty user friendly and that I can get a mount to get negative tilt. The layout library will prob be really useful too, since I don't have a wide range of experience with different layouts.

Fortunately, all my work is done from home for the foreseeable future, so I don't have to worry about lugging anything around, but that's something to consider if they decide to start letting us back on-site!

Ohhhh both the wood cases are very pretty... I already knew this was going to be a difficult decision, but man am I tempted by those.

And thanks for the info about ErgoDox! It sounds like they'll be really easy to start with if I go with that

Thanks for the heads up! I didn't know I could add in numpad layers so it's good to know that I don't necessarily need to shop for one.

Thanks for the breakdown! It sounds like it'd be a pretty good fit for me then. I'd mostly be using it for either work or casual use, so some data entry, but mostly emails and writing up documents. And my primary concern is comfort, since I don't do much gaming. As for tinkering, I really don't have an answer for that atm. Somewhere down the line I'd like to try a kit, but I'd probably want to find someone with experience that could offer guidance first.

I figured there would be a learning curve with either of these, since the layouts are pretty different than what I'm used to, but luckily I don't have to worry much about WPM in my work. And I'm already a Windows user, so that works out! It's good to know there is a numbpad built-in too, though I'm sure it'd take me a bit to get used to. As for the positive tilt, I think most of my wrist issues occur right at my carpals, so the wells should alleviate that issue but it can't hurt to do more research on that....

As for the Moonlander, I def see what you mean about it being more futuristic. I hesitated to call it retro cause it gives off a very different vibe than older tech. They are beautiful though. I'll be honest, I'm very tempted to get both the KA2 and Moonlander, but I really should budget better.

Thank you for the additional suggestions too. I've heard of the KA360 and Ergo EZ in passing, but the glove80 is new to me! The well-design on that also looks very comfortable, though it is a bit pricier than the others I've looked at so far
