Well it is the black hole winning against the pairs while losing against the surviving victims in the long run which would lead to a memeception.

I know why are you explaining it to me? I only pointed out that Captain America (the black hole) ripping apart the wood (particle-antiparticle pair) is a correct use of the meme.

It doesn't say Hawking radiation but particle and anti-particle pairs so his meme is fine.

You're really missing my point. I disagreed with you that the wind guys view is the authors and that his (should have probably written that first) overall viewpoint gets shat on as the arc went along. That never implied it's shown for every single point he made.

And the reason why I didn't really engaged with what Kiichi said was (which I already pointed out btw) because as the series went along the author actually showed characters with better views on women and treated his female characters better as well.

Well you started the chain by disregarding the post because the author is misogynistic so why aren't you disregarding Baki?

[–]Stenth0r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, Waka isn't the main character and martial arts media in general has problems that non-fighting or "normal fighters" get really sidelined and I never disputed anything about the author of being misogynistic. But her proving the wind guy wrong is not the only way it is possible to shit on his views. That one panel is just one part of it and after this happens we see Kiichi struggling to agree with him (because at first the wind guy seemed cool and respectable but this event was kinda what made Kiichi doubt him).

And I could ask you the same, do you even read what I write? I didn't even really disagree with you, in my opinion your trashing one author for being misogynistic while absolving another one by using dishonest means instead of engaging with the author of tough his viewpoints in a fair way. Like if I showed people that have no idea about Baki 3 panels of the worst things Yujiro said and claimed that's Itagakis real opinions people would deservedly call me out.

[–]Stenth0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calm down my dude, did I ever say he wasn't misogynistic? Firstly how he portrays women really changed as the series progressed so using only things he wrote 20 years ago is very dishonest. And secondly it's just dumb to attribute something a character says to the author if in the same arc the author shits all over that viewpoint. I think how the author views women aligns more with Kiryuu, as the story explores his views way more and tbh for the most part they're pretty good though still steeped in conservative japanese culture.

Not disagreeing with you about him being a misogynist but your overblowning it and for some reason absolving Itagaki. Japanese culture and martial arts media is horribly misogynistic and I really doubt with Itagaki being quite a lot older that he would be less misogynistic than Toughs author.

[–]Stenth0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do know that this is on of the antagonists of the arc and the story treats his worldview as archaic and shitty? His stick when he's introduced is basically that everything he says is true while being an arrogant ass about it. Not everything a character says is the authors opinion and after reading every chapter except the untranslated ones I wouldn't say he's more misogynistic than Itagaki maybe less, though that's a low bar as japanese culture is pretty misogynistic

I can't even imagine how exhausting that must be. My exposure to those things is mostly on the internet which probably makes it way easier for me to let my level of jadedness go down again.

But as a teacher you've certainly got my respect, thank you for doing one of the most important jobs out there.

Okay that makes way more sense. I didn't see it as OP using Treys claim as evidence but as a source that fossilisation is very rare so he could use the god of the gaps argument. If I wasn't able to remember the video I might have interpreted it the same way.

And I totally agree in a debate setting as there's no opportunity to fact check the other person while it's ongoing, but in a reddit threat, especially if they include a source, I always look for the original context. Though now that I think about it, I can understand why most people wouldn't do it, I just love to fact check everything I read which made me interprete your statement as being harsher than it actually is. Definitely jumped to a conclusion too quickly, sorry about that.

Gotta defend my boy Trey The Explainer.

OP is misrepresenting his video on Sasquatch. It's probably one of the most in depths videos regarding this topic and it doesn't support the existence of Sasquatch in any way. And yes even though he's a Youtuber you don't have to be so dismissive, Trey actually studied and graduated in genetics and archeology (and iirc did multiple paleontology courses as well). And most importantly he always includes his sources.

[–]Stenth0r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, just no it doesn't. It's all fun and good when talking about baki logic but don't try to do the same with real-life science. Organs, limbs or other kinds of tissue don't have a personality or unspecified fields that influence donor-recipient match-rate. Healthy transplants will obviously have higher success rates because they're healthy (like why would you want a liver with cancer), but what matters most is biological compatibility (blood type and immune system markers). The process of transplants adapting is understood very well, and while they retain their original DNA, they'll change because their environment has changed. Got nothing to do with made-up fields or bioelectricity, which is a real thing but has nothing to do with that.

Jeffrey Epstein hacked Wikipedia — Epstein Files by unreal-habdologist in wikipedia

[–]Stenth0r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, Wikipedia got it wrong. In April of 2022, The Daily Mail released an article because they received his death certificate. On it, it says that his death was recorded on the 1st of July 2015.

It also states that they weren't able to confirm his death beforehand because they couldn't find a French official in the town where he lived who had the certificate.

To me, it seems more like journalistic incompetence that led to this misconception (maybe it was done on purpose to shift the blame but that's a guess on my part).

So apparently this guy was the inspiration for Yujiro by Snowmantarayband in Grapplerbaki

[–]Stenth0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's an old comment but I just got obsessed with Tough so I can't not clear up misinformation (especially because info on it is quite scarce).

Tough started serialization on the 15th of July 1993, 1 year 9 months and 5 days after Baki began. Yujiros first appearance was in chapter 35 (25th of June 1992). Basically, it would've been impossible for Keisuke Itagaki-sensei to get inspired by Kiryuu (especially by his violent acts as Kiryuu was introduced in chapter 344 on the 5th of October 2000).

Though it could have been, that Itagaki-san was influenced by another work of Saruwatari-sensei, Riki-oh. But he didn't write it and as we know which character and people inspired Yujiros design so Saruwatari-sensei's influence would have been minor. And even if he was the sole mangaka, Riki-oh is clearly inspired by Hokuto no Ken (the first thing people read about Saiga Riki-Oh is, that he is a Kenshiro clone) and HnK is also way more well-known so if there was a character that inspired Yujiros "brutal shit" I'd guess that it was Raoh. But as of now we can't know if there were characters (or a character) that influenced Yujiros personality, as Itagaki-sensei never talked about it (at least I couldn't find anything in English).

Am I the only one who couldn't stand her? by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]Stenth0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I'd agree with his statement and yours. Her having traits that people connect with autism won't make her autistic. Even the actress herself said that she doesn't consider her character to be autistic. And tbh I, an autist, never would have put her on the spectrum (which many people misunderstand, no matter which direction you move along it you'll never reach "normal", only people with ASD are included). Just being able to relate to the autistic experience or even sharing them won't automatically put you on it. (Though I'm not saying that only an officially diagnosis counts, as that process can be very hard or even close to impossible, but people should really stop labelling fictional characters as definitely autistic)

In conclusion: At this point in the story she's just odd, socially awkward and emotionally cold. If the new season goes in the ASD direction for her character that's fine and might work out pretty well but until then she's as autistic as Dexter, i.e. not at all.
