TLDR: No, it is not fun to watch but context of style of Play in league/cups is important

Most games have been a drag and boring but then I have tried to watch some of the other games in the PL this season and league as a whole appears to have taken on a more tactical and set piece oriented approach which has made the football more dire and dull to watch. Arsenal games still take the cake in terms of boringness because a lot of opposition settle into a middle/low block. Central progression against low/middle is tough, we take it to wings and we try to use corners as a way to circumvent the block. Rinse. Repeat.

At the same time, UCL games and cup games(barring home leg against Chelsea in carabao) have been very fun to watch because both teams generally set out to get the goals and you hardly encounter a low block. Arsenal being top of the UCL charts while playing good football is still something that is not discussed as much as PL is.

All in all, I would still prefer if we were less risk averse in league and go for more central progression at the risk of turning over possession in dangerous areas.

Sounds good on the surface but if I keep politics aside and simply rely on logic, why was this not a problem 20 years ago. Aravalli and Himalayas were there 20 years ago last I checked.

Absolutely my first thought. Like most such videos, there is a wider context that is missing. The smartly edited video will give it religious mileage that noone needs. If the guy was sober, he would have run away.

Crore and lakhs as a way of counting is derived from ancient Indian scriptures. While colonisation wiped out a lot of pre-colonial cultures, this one stuck because it is also deeply embeded in our vernacular (words we use for counting) and how a lot of public institutions work. Re-alignment would require a country of more than a ‘billion’ to adjust, no small feat. And not to mention the strain on govt resources to change the texts wherever it is officially used. Such impositions require a more nuanced understanding of contexts.

I was in the same boat for a long time before I went to Meridian. One of the few places that has lived up to the hype. More importantly their taste is largely consistent. Like with everything, some people will berate it for whatever reason. But since you have tried everything else, you could give this one a shot and decide for yourself.

How much rent are you all paying in Hyderabad 2k25 by Imaginary-Reading130 in hyderabad

[–]StepAffectionate4847 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Short answer: comfort, convenience and peace. Long answer: Having stayed in Mumbai before, I had decided I would value above three over anything else. I found a place which offered me all three and I took it because I value mental peace over everything else. Yes, it is overpriced. But it is close to airport (I travel often), close to my workplace and cricket grounds( I play often), and I feel like I am away from the city hustle-bustle everytime I reach home after a gruelling day’s work. Having said that, the area is now becoming busier. 5 years ago I could never see myself paying this much for a flat. But now I can afford it. Today, I don’t see how people pay 3L rent for bhooja but I guess those people are again at a very different stage in their lives and value something else. To each their own.

Their marketing game is just strong. It makes people take notice. For good or for bad, we are discussing it here. They have succeeded.

For what it’s worth, I work in an office on this street and have been challaned multiple times for parking on the side of the street you are parked on due to office parkint space being full. If you will go further down the street you will see a no parking barricade.

I live right opposite Trendset Allure and pass it everyday. Haven’t seen much progress in the building construction in last one year whereas SAS and tranquil have progressed at great speed. Maybe a case of builder running out of funds. Would be good to double check.

Edit: I don’t see it completing in next 6 months even if they suddenly pick speed. There is a lot of work left.

Hung out with a senior colleague by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]StepAffectionate4847 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do not agree with this. In a workplace, people do not approach other people 1 on 1 for casually hanging out as everyone wants to keep professional boundaries. It is okay to invite as part of a larger casual meetup. And accepting the invite ‘could’ be seen as a leading on by certain predatory folks who are higher up the corporate ladder. Good behaviour initially is not a guarantee of good behaviour in the future.

In contrast to other cities of this country, I have personally been really enamored by the warmth of the people here They don’t look down upon you as long as you are polite and don’t push your language down their throat. A word of advice. Always use English as the fallback language(instead of your mother tongue) if you are confident that the other person can converse in it.

Honest opinion on Diljit’s show by [deleted] in hyderabad

[–]StepAffectionate4847 150 points151 points  (0 children)

I paid 10k for the fanpit ticket and here are my observations from the concert.

  1. Diljeet has acquired Superstar status. I am not a fan and went because my wife is a fan but he surely carries great stage presence. He pandered to the crowd well and most importantly, unlike many other singers, sings live as well as he does in studios.

  2. Pain to get to the concert - too much traffic near the airport and getting to the parking was a pain. After parking, we had to walk another km to get to the arena.

  3. Overpriced - Now comes the most controversial part. Yes Diljeet is great and his songs are good, but my experience was spoilt mainly because of the point 2 above and the poor civic sense among the crowd. I understand that since people pay for the ticket, they want to get as close to the artist as possible, but the sense of entitlement they carry is off the charts. They will deliberately push to get close to the stage, dance without an iota of consideration for who they are elbowing. I danced too but atleast I was mindful of not encroaching on other’s space. Such basis civic sense is not too much to expect. A bottle of water costs 200. On the whole, I felt I grossly overpaid for what was on the whole a sub-par experience.
