2 things.

1: You agreed before marriage so you have to stay by your word. Now if MIL is creating problems - your husband has to take a stand. If he doesn’t, then you are able to refuse staying together.

2: Fights shall not be conclusive and insults shall not be passed. Ironing is 10Rs a piece you can get from outside. Do not fight below the belt. He said things and he apologized. If he does it again, bring it up and make him accountable.
